My client and I stopped in for a quick lunch. They had smoked brisket on special and we bit. No regrets… tender and smoky meat, and sides of cheesy hash potatoes and corn. The portions were small, but perfect for lunch to be honest.

This is the 2nd time I’ve tried to post this review. Because of the fact that this was one of the worst dining experiences ever, I feel compelled to make sure the review is posted. The steak(Porterhouse) was a poor cut of meat and was raw on one end and medium well on the other. I have never seen a steak cooked in such a manner. It was to have been medium rare. It waa also filled with gristle and fat… all in all a terrible steak. The relish tray contained clearly old vegetables, the potato was mushy, and the«salad» was nothing more than chopped iceberg lettuce. The waitress was the only good point of the evening. We will not return.

I was concerned, at first, about the lack of windows. However, once inside, I’m glad there weren’t any. The atmosphere of this restaurant is highly relaxing and subdued. The low lighting and low noise made my experience not only enjoyable, but also memorable. The soups are homemade(as is pretty much everything), and was a great appetizer. I ordered the filet mignon, cooked to medium. It was cooked perfectly, and the taste and tenderness was better than I’ve had in a really long time. The staff was extraordinarily friendly, kept my drink refilled, and added to the enjoyment. The dessert was great, as well. I don’t know when I’ll be back in this part of the country, but I hope it’s sooner than later. I can’t wait to eat here again.

Not sure if I will ever have the occasion to return to Hastings any time soon, but if I do, Bernardo’s is def on the list of «must eats.» Gravelly parking lot and non-descript building opens up to a wood-paneled, 70’s feeling steak house. The service was excellent and the prime-rib pretty much melted in my mouth. Cost was on the higher side, but compared to other places, quite the deal.

I have been here a bunch of times when back visiting family. My Grandad would always take us out to dinner here when we came out from California. It has some great food, and good corn fed Nebraska beef. The salads are cold and fresh, and the steaks are served as ordered. Unfortunately my Grandparents have passed on, so I don’t know when I will get back next, but if I am in the area, I will stop by and have another steak in honor of my Grandad.

Recently I had dinner there and found everything to be what I had hoped it would be. I had the salad with blue cheese dressing that was cold and crisp, the steak was cooked to perfection, and I chose a baked sweet potato that rounded out the meal. Hot bread was served with dinner .The service was great and I look forward to returning in the near future to repeat the whole meal
