We are long time Dino’s customer and were so upset when we found out he retired. However this place is outstanding. A good old fashioned breakfast place with reasonable prices.

Disappointed in my recent visit after many years. My memory of Bonatts was that it was an «amazing» place for breakfast and that the food was great and large portions for a great value. However, recently I have noticed that the quality of service has seriously declined. Here is a brief summary of my last visit. Which might be my «last» visit. We were seated very quickly despite a line waiting outside(great start). But that was about where the positives end. Group of 4 of us young professionals grabbing lunch/breakfast around 11AM on a Saturday. It did not seem overly busy inside. We could not wait to have a famous«melt-a-way» while we waited for our breakfast. So we ordered our meals and for a melt-a-way to come out first to snack on. About 30 minutes went by until my friend got up to go ask the waitress to please bring out the snack before our food came out. At this point she said«ohhhh I’m sorry I forgot to tell you guys that we are all out of melt-a-ways»…Ok. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because you literally have a bakery connected that makes these, correct? Oh well. Service continued to be sub-par and very disappointing. My fiancé also ordered oatmeal which came out cold and had to be returned for a new bowl. Not what it used to be or what you likely remember it to be. I hope they step up their game.

very nice breakfast… had meltaway french toast. very soft and fresh… just wish it had cinnamon or fruit on it …not alot of flavor. my husband had eggs, ham, and homefries… he enjoyed it… I wish I had tried cannoli french toast… maybe next time… really good variety of choices for breakfast

This place use to be good, in fact I would send all my friends their for meltaways. Now the meltaways are simply nasty and tell them to stay away.

We love it here breakfast or lunch! It’s always great! My son loves the eggs, turkey bacon, and pancakes. On Sunday’s they only serve breakfast… I forgot this once when we went, but it turned out fine.

The danishes look great but the customer service is awful. I had brought my in laws from NH to the bakery for a quick breakfast, being our first time here and now knowing what some of the pastries were we ordered a few things then kept looking to see what else we wanted. We were yelled at several times by the young girl«anything else? Anything else? I need to know what size box to pack everything it in.» Then I was glared at and told by what looked like her mother the reason again why they were rude. there wasn’t even a line or ANYONE Behind us. I will not be back. If you’re in the mood to get yelled at while ordering your breakfast, this is the place to go!

First time eating bfast here. I’ve had the meltaway before and was looking forward to having one again but they were sold out. It was almost noon so I could understand, however, this summer they decided to only serve from the breakfast menu — no lunch menu, so you’d think they’d keep making the meltaways?! The classic eggs benedict was good just not mouth watering oh my gosh goodness you sometimes find with hollandaise. The potatoes are very tasty, reminded me of my grandmas but the portion size would be way too small for most men. I think I had 8 or 10 pieces of cut up potato. Service was friendly.

Food was okay except I got two hairs in my corn beef hash, I suggested to the waitress that they make a fresh batch. the free meltaway donut pastry was good, but the the coffee was burnt. The waitress was nice enough to take the corn beef off our ticket. The bakery on the other side of the restaurant looked enticing, but after finding hairs in my hash, I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon.

What, no free melts ways!!! Forget it! When I went it was hot and they wouldn’t let us open the window. Sweating. That was a few years ago. Won’t go back. Hope the owner is friendlier than she was that day!

My parents raved about their meltaway french toast, so my family and I decided to try this place. It wasn’t bad… it was just ok. The waitress never came back so we had to find someone to get a second cup of coffee(supposedly bottomless), there was barely any hollandaise on the eggs and I was charged for extra which was super watered down. I again had to get up to water refills. There are no substitutions or changes… its a little ridiculous! The food was good and the portions were decent for the price. The meltaway french toast was as good as my parents said however what is truly lacking is the awful service.

I like this place quite a bit for breakfast. I haven’t had lunch there yet, but I figure they’re real solid as well. The restaurant is quaint and clean. I’d say they are definitely a few notches above the average diner. The quality of the food is clearly superior to a «greasy spoon«breakfast joint. The service has been polite and extremely prompt. Recently it only took four minutes for my melt away French toast to appear before me. Fast and delicious! I noticed they had 11 employees working(cooks included). 11? That’s an obvious dedication to service and it shows. They also had breakfast specials, not a given at a breakfast place. Simple, solid, professional and prompt. Great job Bonats! I’ll be back soon.

This place has changed — menu has changed — sitting here and just asked the waitress to add onions to an omelet — no substitutions!!! — how is adding onion to an omelet a substitution? We won’t be back… I get more options at Duncan Donuts.

Bonatts is no longer open until 2:30. They close at 1:00 every day. Their breakfasts are fabulous!

We eat here almost every time we are on Cape. Very good breakfast with a wide selection. You don’t get the free melt away all the time because they run out. At 10:30 this morning they were already sold out. Menu is reasonably prices except I find 3 bucks for coffee too high so I don’t get it. I would recommend this place because the meal size will satisfy you and the price won’t kill you.

Not what it used to be. There was a time when you HAD to eat breakfast here. The staff was wonderful, the irresistible meltaways(which they were famous for) were still warm and presented as a compliment to your breakfast. Now the restaurant smells like a greasy spoon, the service is lackluster at best. The killer is they now charge for the meltaways! That also would not be a bad thing if they were still fluffy and delicious, which they are not. So disappointed!

Bonatt’s has slipped a bit from back in the day when it was the only place I’d get excited about going to breakfast to in this area. The portions are smaller, the quality lower, the service more distant and… not every table gets a meltaway :(. It’s still decent and the prices are reasonable, but I gotta be honest; after bit-talking it to my husband, I was pretty disappointed. I have reason to believe the rest of Bonatt’s fans are, too. We arrived on Saturday morning of Labor Day fully expecting to wait at least 30 minutes for a table, but were seated immediately(and noticed there were plenty of tables to spare). It took the server a good 15 minutes to come over and take our order, which was slightly annoying and perplexing, too. The grub was good — not great, not amazing — I had the cinnamon bun French toast with a side of bacon while the rest of the table had various versions of eggs and meats. I found the bacon greasy and thin while the French toast(although it was very tasty) had a slightly manufactured taste to it which was kind of a turn off(perhaps it was the non-maple, non-real ‘syrup’.). They only have Lipton’s black tea which, for a breakfast place, is really disappointing. Also, I was told the coffee was awful — watered down and nearly flavorless. Sadly, I won’t likely be retuning to Bonatt’s again. The beloved breakfast joint of my youth has gone steeply downhill, and while it’s always fun to go out for a meal, this one was probably better left skipped.

Meltaways are proof of God’s abiding love for his children. The four stars come from the terrifying staff in the diner. I know the tourist grind, I know it is absolute hell. I know people act particularly bad at greasy spoons and downright evil while on vacation. I can’t imagine the shitty tips the octogenarians left, the hurried mothers. Maybe we could work out a compromise, y’all frighten me less and I’ll yell at impolite customers.

In my never-endng quest to find delicious cinnamon buns for my guy, I hit up Bonatt’s Bakery. Yay! A bakery right down the street from me! I went with a wide selection: a cinnamon bun, a cinnamon twist, a pecan roll, and one of the famous meltaways. The girl at the counter was super nice, I was able to pay with my card, and they have free doggie treats at the counter. So far so good. Unfortunately, we found the pastries a little bland and dry. The cinnamon bun was not ooey-gooey like we prefer them(I mean, does anyone NOT like them that way?). Even the meltaway, while our favorite, was not particularly«melty» for a pastry. Overall, we were pretty underwhelmed. But, I did note that they had a nice restaurant in the back, so a few days ago Joe and I went for breakfast. The décor was a little clinical… I mean, definitely«Cape Cod cute» but it made me think of… I dunno… a waiting room or something. The kitchen is open and visible, which I always like. Service was fast and friendly. Of course I got eggs benedict, and I have to say, it was amazeo. The eggs were poached nicely, the spinach was tender, and the hollandaise… well, this was very possibly the best hollandaise I ever had. It was creamy and lemony and perfect. I was literally scraping it up with the tiniest crumbs of my potatoes(also good!) just so I wouldn’t be seen just licking the plate like i wanted. Joe got a spinach and egg crêpe, which was also delicious. This place does a crêpe of the day, which is pretty awesome. So while I’m not sure I’ll be patronizing the Bonatt Bakery, I will definitely return to the restaurant. And hey, those meltaways are pretty popular, so you can enjoy my share!

Usually very good but today egg omelet was cooked in too much oil. May want to ask them to go lite on oil if you order the same. Good combo of flavors though and quick delivery.
