I grew up on the Westbank and have had crawfish from all over New Orleans. This review is just for crawfish and related sides. I’ve been here a couple of times and finally got around to reviewing it. Crawfish was excellent. Spicy and I love it. Pitchers were a steal and sides(potatoes/corn/sausage) were awesome. Coldest beer mugs, chilled pitchers, and replacement beer mugs with each pitcher. My only complaint was the lack of garlic cloves in the 15 lbs of crawfish we got. Service: Great! I loved the casual environment and the quick service. Went there at 6pm on Friday and only had a 15 minute wait.

I ordered the Crawfish tail basket. And my friend ordered the Charbroiled stuffed oysters and a bowl of gumbo. The price is worth the amazing taste. I never had fresh raw oysters and a gentleman let me and my friend try it to taste. We are from out of town some are not so friendly to out of towners but the food is amazing. I can recommend this place to people.

I should have known better than to get a salad… Or I should have known to walk out. So I dropped by here on a trip to the West Bank to visit the swamps and stopped in with my boyfriend after reading some great reviews on Google. Upon arrival, the place was very casual but there was a weird tension between my boyfriend and I and the servers we interacted with. Maybe I’m imagining it, or maybe they could tell we weren’t local, but everyone was pretty standoffish. But the food. I should have known. I ordered the Seafood Salad with shrimp and crab and when it arrived… It was in a plastic container with shredded lettuce, gross old boiled eggs, and ice cold shrimp and pretty decent crab. There were three bland options for dressing and the salad was so god awful I had to order french bread to make a poboy with some leftover calimari. The reason I’m bothering with this review is because my last taste of the shrimp from my salad was the most god awful thing I have ever had the displeasure to taste in my life – this shrimp tasted like freezerburn or gross chemicals rotting in a fridge. It tasted old and absolutely disgusting, I wanted to throw up in the middle of the restaurant. And lo and behold I’d choked down half the salad already so I couldn’t send it back, but it was terrible. The point: DON’T CHARGE $ 14FOR A DISGUSTING, PREMADEPILEOFGARBAGE. The only savior was the calmari and my boyfriend’s massive shrimp basket. But this salad – don’t do it. Just don’t.

The coldest beer mugs of ever been given in my 35 years of life! Those were followed by some great crawfish not to spicy plus none of that extra seasoning BS! It takes a trip to «The Wank» but totally worth it!

Yummy lunch today! Not touristy but warm and delicious. It was quiet since it was a Monday afternoon post rush hour lunch but overall was made comfortable by the waitress. Service was great and food delicious!

The seafood is hit or miss. Sometimes it is seasoned very good. Other times they miss the mark. The servers are nice. I still plan to go back in the future.

Pierino’s has that classic Cajun style seafood, fried, boiled, or broiled. As fresh as you can get it unless you’re down by the docks(Pierino’s has their own seafood market west of here) and they know how to serve it up. Whether you want to sit at the bar and watch them shuck oysters while having a beer or bring a group of friends and let them toss a boil up in front of you this place works. Don’t look for much diet food here. This place is about comfort Cajun seafood and they do it perfectly. They are kinda pricey considering their location with a dozen places nearby that serve very good seafood of their own but they have the complete package. I’d add that their location is good on Westbank Expressway but their atmosphere is not on par with their food but not uncomfortable in any way. If you’re an outta towner then this place is how Cajun is done in the bayou.

Ordered some appetizers to go(calamari and crawfish boudin), not overly impressed. From the reviews, I assumed their seafood would be extremely fresh and well prepared. Unfortunately, their calamari was very rubbery and had a fishy after-taste. Would have been better if it was not overcooked too. Their boudin was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Although it was crawfish, I did not believe much was inside of it. However, from my brief interaction, the staff was nice. Caveat, I guess this place is known for their seafood boils. So maybe they are better at doing that than the appetizers I had…

Perino’s was recommended to us by three different sets of folks who work and live in New Orleans as a place they themselves would go. It required an Über ride from the warehouse district to get there since it is about 7-miles away on the other side of the river. We didn’t know what to expect — but what is there is unique! The staff, Julie in particular, was very friendly and she seemed genuinely excited that 4 people from San Francisco Bay Area had sought out their restaurant. The food was excellent — but Bay Area diners need to bring the right expectations — it’s not California cuisine, it’s not romantic dining, it’s not a quiet place. All four of us who went loved it. Food you cannot get where we live. Really nice staff. Inexpensive for what you’re eating. A unique dining room! Caution — the owner of the place must be a big game hunter and the décor features about 50 stuffed hunting trophies — if that will turn you off, simply don’t go. I will DEFINITELY return here even though it’s off the beaten path!

While in town for my annual vacation to NOLA, wanted to get some fresh seafood away from the more tourist popular places. This place did not disappoint. We decided to get the boiled seafood, I got blue crabs and shrimp, my friend got the dungeness crab and shrimp. We also had gumbo for appetizer. The seafood was very well seasoned with a little kick which I loved! I’m from Florida and love a good crab boil. The gumbo was okay. I am soooo happy we found this place and will definitely be back.

Crawfish are good when they are not reheated! Do not buy boiled shrimp… Even when shrimp are in season they are ridiculously over priced! 15.00 per pound or 42.00 for 3 pounds! We have access to Louisiana shrimp and this is not Tennessee or Kentucky! Will not pay that price!

Super over priced(though you do get a ton of food) and the poboys we had weren’t all that flavorful. We ordered three poboys, a stuffed artichoke, a salad and sodas and it was over $ 100. Would not return.

I came here looking for fresh seafood, and I definitely found it! My only complaint would be that perhaps the chargrilled oysters were a tad bit too cheesy that it completely masked the oyster taste, but otherwise everything was great! Even the corn on the cob, as simple of food as it is, was great because it was slightly seasoned.

We were aiming for another local spot but they were closed on a Monday! Ended up at Perino’s based completely on Unilocal reviews and they were right! Delish! We had the shrimp, corn, potatoes and I even picked a blue crab like my Grandma taught me. I think I used half a roll of paper towels, too. That’s the sign of a good boil place!!!

Ok, I love this place. I am a big fan now. I use to go to Salvo’s, but after coming here I realized Salvo’s crawfish is dirty… Anyway I came here with my bf! we wanted oysters, crawfish, and a poboy! First off they were busy, so we opted for the bar! we had crawfish first and they were $ 5.57 a pound two weeks ago when we went. It was delicious! the oysters were good also! after we ate our oysters, they had opened a new sack and we were watching the shucker shucking HUGEOYSTERS!!! I was definitely jealous! Any way we shared the oyster platter and made it a poboy! it was very good. the fried oysters were huge! and it was a good amount! This will be my to go spot for some crawfish!

Been very disappointed in perinos. They are serving old crawfish for lunch. In the past 2 – 3 weeks my husband and I have tried to get crawfish for lunch and we paid a good bit of money for small, soft, tasted old crawfish. We won’t be coming back any time soon for crawfish. Love the soft-shelled shrimp.

First of all, my whole family is from New Orleans so don’t discount some Alabamian’s opinion of seafood. We went here the day we were leaving from Mardi Gras weekend. We had a variety of things come to our table, so I was able to try a lot of things. We were immediately seated when we came in. The place is big. But most tables were full for lunch. So I’m sure it can get packed at peak times. I split an order of raw oysters. This time of year provide some of the best oysters and these were no different. Good size and flavor. My sister got the crawfish boudin and my wife got the gumbo. Both were pretty good, but not great. The texture of the boudin was lacking. And the gumbo was a little thin for my preference. We didn’t get any boiled seafood. But a majority of the restaurant did. So I would figure they are pretty good. The crawfish looked small. But it is still pretty early in the season. You can bet that I will try it later in the spring when the crawfish are big and delicious. For the entrees, I was able to try the crawfish tails and they were pretty good. I’ve tasted better crab claws. But good none the less. The quantities were HUGE in the seafood baskets. You will not go hungry with any of these it appears. I got the fried shrimp and honestly they are some of the best I have ever had. So they are highly recommended. Prices were good and nothing was bad. If you are in the area and craving some seafood, Perino’s is the spot to go.

WOW. This place is everything I wanted in a NOLA crawfish boil place: 1. The ambiance– casual. The food was served in a large vat, and they give you another vat to put your«ruins» in. It is fun to see one empty as you fill the otther one. There are the old style video games in the back. It is nothing fancy, but you still feel comfortable at this sit-down restaurant. They keep it casual, but it is a clean and friendly atmosphere. The staff was very polite and constantly checked on us. I don’t think my water glass ever got close to empty. Also the locals are here, so you KNOW this place is good! We saw this old couple who have been coming there«as long as they could remember” — they swear by it! 2. The food Crawfish– How do they pack so much flavor?! SO good! The tails just slipped easily out of the crawfish, easy to eat. Shrimp– also good, but not my favorite. For some reason, the crawfish seemed to hold in the flavor. For 3 lbs crawfish is the same price as 1 lb shrimp, so I’d stick to that Fried catfish– crispy outside, juicy inside. Perfect. Fries– perfect counterpart to your seafood. Boiled corn– doesn’t have the spices of the boil, but tastes fresh LOVED it here, would recommend that everyone take the short trek away from the French Quarter to enjoy a local bite here.

Located on the West Bank right past the Harvey Tunnel(depending on which way you approach it) near a night club & a motel. Seems like a family owned restaurant more than a chain restaurant, that’s a plus #supportlocallyowned. Walk in you can sit at the bar or seat yourself & sit in the animal adorned dining area. Loads of gaming animals both large & small lets you know the owner/decorator is a hunter… Ya think? Spooky, yet kinda cool. So on to the food & the service. The menu is sure to please even the pickiest eater; gumbo, fried seafood, boiled seafood, salads, there’s something for everyone. Drinks by way of soda, water, draft & bottled beer, cool beans. Service is good, I found the servers to be attentive & that’s a plus. But I didn’t like paying $ 2.75 to make my platter a po-boy; why charge for bread, lettuce, tomatoes & pickles when you’re already paying for the platter??? Why not just charge for a po-boy??? Anyway, the food was seasoned properly; a quick go to place for my ‘seafood fix’ while on the West Bank.

I came here on a weekday, and I was surprised how busy it was, but we were still able to get a seat easily. The crawfish was $ 4.99 a pound for some small crawfish. It was well seasoned though. Not too spicy, yet right amount of all the seasonings and salt. A bowl of gumbo was a little watery, but it was filled with lots of seafood. I don’t know if I’ll be back, but if I’m nearby, I’ll certainly consider it.

After going to the Perino’s market/sitdown lunch spot, this Perino’s is the better looking sister! We ordered about 3 lb. of boiled crawfish, potatoes, corn, and a dozen crabs. SOOOOOGOOD!!! We ate and ate and ate some more. The service was good and the food was great!
