Worst experience I’ve ever had with a dentist’s office. As a new patient I had filled out their forms and mailed them in about a month or so prior to my appointment(just a routine cleaning) to make sure everything went smoothly. I had to line up a babysitter for my two toddlers in order to go to the appointment. When I went in the tech acted like they had no information on me and started with the health history all over again. If they actually hadn’t received the forms, you would think that they would have had me fill these out in the waiting room instead of the tech going through 2 pages of questions verbally. The first question she asked was if I’m under a doctor’s care. I told her I’m under the care of an oncologist as I have breast cancer, but I am NOT currently on any treatment whatsoever as I have an upcoming surgery. The tech immediately stated that I would need clearance from my oncologist in order to receive a cleaning. I told her I don’t need clearance as I’m not on any treatment(which means absolutely Nothing, no chemo, no medication), and if I needed clearance my oncologist would have told me so. She continued to insist that I need clearance and tried to call his office, which was not open for another hour. Then she tried to get me to come back in 3 hours. I told her I have two toddlers at home with a sitter and could not drag this out for another 3 hours waiting for a clearance that I don’t need in the first place. She continued to go on about how its her license on the line even though I had signed an Informed Consent for Treatment document and sent it in with the rest of the paperwork. She made me feel as though I was a liar about not being on treatment, and a liability to her career because I have cancer. I finally gave up arguing with her and told her point blank that having cancer has already made my life a living hell, but now I can’t even get my teeth cleaned because of it? Then I walked out the door. I understand the tech felt like she needed to keep herself covered but that’s why they have patients fill out consent forms and release their liability if anything goes wrong. This office was beyond unprofessional, obviously disorganized, not to mention clueless and insensitive about their patients. I left there feeling as though I wasn’t just a person needing a routine cleaning, just a big red X with cancer that they wanted nothing to do with.

July 24 went for a cleaning and asked to have a tooth extracted rather than filled. Dr. Joy-Ann Deane told hygienist to take an x-ray prior to extraction and she would decide if she would be able to pull it or not. After reviewing the x-ray she decided she could extract the tooth. After an immense amount of time with her singing and pulling and tugging and contorting my face, and having her assistant support my jaw, she decides she needs another x-ray to see to see why the tooth would not come out after I was crying and told her I could not take much more. The second x-ray which showed the entire tooth showed a hook on the tooth making it impossible for her to get out. At this time she says I need an oral surgeon. WHAT? That should have been done the minute she saw the first x-ray because it was not correct in that it was not showing the entire tooth. What kind of quack are you that you don’t notice the whole tooth is not on the x-ray? After I say you can’t leave me this on a Friday afternoon with the tooth partly out, she gives the receptionist two numbers of oral surgeons that take my insurance. The first one says they have an October appointment for my emergency, and the second does not answer. I leave left to my own devices. I failed to mention earlier the hygienist that gave me the novacaine hit the nerve and I almost went through the roof. I would say, RUNAWAY. Very incapable, unprofessional, and do not have oral surgery emergency contacts in place if needed. June 6,2016(11 months later) Today I receive a bill for $ 196.00 with no information except 56.00 is 30 days past due and 140.00 over 90 days. All the time they never billed my dental insurance. What a joke. Even the billers don’t know what to do.
