The customer service is «eh» but those empanadas are the bomb. They’re actually my favorite because every time I’ve had them they’ve been awesome. Consistency is key ;) I’ve also tried several of their dishes and they’ve all been good too.

although my experience was mixed before, good food, bad service, I recommended this place to members of my family; same results for them too. I did mention this to the manager, but seems like they do not care to lose customers.

La Fonda is a wonderful discovery of ours in the South End of Hartford. The staff is extremely friendly and there hasn’t been one thing on the menu that we haven’t liked. The standouts are the conzeula montenera, the guacamole with plantain chips and the skirt steak. The price was very reasonable and the sangria is EPIC. It’s worth going there for that alone! Highly recommended!

Got the Bandeja Montanera(carne asada, sausage, rice and beans with an egg on top). It was very good. The dinning area was ok, the service was great. The parking is at a minimum. Overall a good place for Colombian food. I would definitely return.

The temperature in here is over 80 all summer as they dont use AC. The staff ignores everyone and the food is sub par. I will not be back as there are much better Latin food choices in this area and much better service.

Great food, family friendly atmosphere. Will return as many times as possible. One suggestion — add better lighter beer selection(Medalla, Pabst’s Blue Ribbon).

Love the food here. The staff was friendly, even though we spoke different languages, they made us feel welcome.

We stopped in here last night because we were starving and saw it. The food was good– I had chicken and my husband had pork and beef. The atmosphere was fine, not too loud, and the staff was competent, although slow. It seemed expensive to me though! Entrees are between 12 and 23 dollars(they do include side dishes like rice and beans). The restaurant has a «hole in the wall» sort of vibe, and is next to a tattoo parlor and a porn cinema, so we were expecting a cheap meal. The prices were not excessive, just not what we had in mind from the atmosphere. Prices for alcohol seemed reasonable, so maybe view this place as a bar rather than a restaurant.

This place was great. Im from south florida where there is a lot of colombian places around but here in ct i havent been able to find a lot. La Fonda was delicious, the bandeja paisa and empanadas were very good and the service and atmosphere were wonderful. I would definitely recommend it.

The envirnment is not great and if you don’t know where it is you will pass it completely. The outside is a mess but the food is good. I believe it is fresh(it tasted fresh) and the flavors are on point.

One of my favorite restaurants. LOVE the ajiaco — chicken soup served on Saturday’s. Very friendly people and yummy food :)

Good meal, nice people and service very reasonable. If youre looking for high end, this isn’t it. But family style hearty food it is We had gone to the theater and our friends like to experiment so we went here. Nice empanadas, well made salads and steaks and very nice people.

Food: Beef empanada was good but nothing to write home about. My husband got the sweet arepa which was delicious. I got the churrasco criollo which was steak with potatoes and blood sausage covered in a Columbian sauce. It was good, despite not being very healthy(the sauce had both cream and cheese). My husband ordered the peasant plate– chicarron, sausage, and steak. The chicarron was almost inedible(tough) and didn’t have a lot of flavor. On the other hand the sausage had good flavor but was dry. The steak was okay. The beans and rice on both plates were good. Service: not so good. I asked for both a beef and chicken empanada to taste both and only got one. They asked how i wanted my steak cooked… I said medium rare, it came out well done. My husband ordered a second beer which never showed up. We won’t be going out of our way to come back again.

Excellent first experience with Colombian food! Our waitress was very pleasant(it does help if you know a bit of spanish coming here, but if you don’t — don’t let it deter you, there are english speaking staff memebers). We had the empanadas as an appetizer which were served nice and hot, filled with chicken and beef. We also had an arepa, which I would highly recommend giving a try – it was the best part of our meal. My entrée – the typical La Fonda plate, was filling, but a bit too dry. My hub had the churrasco, which was a huge portion, and the chimichurri sauce gave it an excellent flavor. Would definitely recommend this place and we hope to be back!
