If I could rate this less than one star, I would say ¼ and that’s being generous. I had some recession on my lower central incisors. I needed a graft, which is when a piece of gum tissue is removed from the roof of the mouth. Dr. Vic a below-par job. The recession was still there. Fast forward. I saw my general dentist, Scott Ruffner, who is a very good dentist. I had an implant done on one of my upper incisors. I needed to have the permanent crown made and at the same time, replace the crown on the tooth beside it(it had a root canal and a permanent crown.) It’s not easy to match the shade on a crown and a natural tooth. He referred me to the James brothers, Jesse and Frank.(This is what my Dad calls them.) I scheduled an appointment for yesterday. They got me in, Dr. Vic was in the room about one minute and said I need to schedule for xrays and an exam, which I thought we were doing yesterday. I was handed a treatment plan; $ 300 for that appointment. I slid the paper back across the table, politely declined, and left. He gets the majority of his patients from referral. I refer patients to go somewhere else. Now, I have to start over with another dentist. I encourage people to go somewhere else. This office doesn’t put patients first.

I love Shenandoah Valley Implant Institute! I had an implant done back in 2010⁄2011. At the time I was a senior in high school who was more than excited to get my implant due to some self-esteem issues not having the tooth was causing me. The first time I got the implant it was not successful and before they could attach the crown it actually fell out during an appointment(this was not their fault in anyway just had to do with my jaw not healing properly), naturally I was upset when it fell out in their office and they comforted me as well as they could. We then rescheduled another implant for a few months later(after my jaw had fully healed), and this time the surgery was successful and I have had zero complications since. Both procedures were relatively painless and they did not charge me for having to redo the implant which was considerate. Also after being upset my first implant fell out in their office they kindly sent me a Panera Bread $ 30 gift card to use as a «I’m sorry»(even though it wasn’t their fault). I thought this was an extremely nice gesture and something most dentist/oral offices would not have done. Now that I have yearly checkups in their office they’re always sure to kindly schedule me around my hectic and ever changing college-student schedule. I’ve had to cancel/reschedule my appts NUMEROUS time and never once has anyone been rude or acted frustrated with me, in fact they usually call me whenever they have openings that fit my schedule. Truly this office and the staff is beyond nice and caring as well as professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

On a positive note my surgery was successful and seems to be holding well. On a constructive note and a word of caution to all new patients — Vic Saunders did not wear a mask and spit in my mouth during the procedure while he was talking and laughing at jokes made between him and the assistant. I asked him about this after and he refused to wear one saying it messed with his glasses. I will not be going back. I think patients should know this prior to visiting that this periodontist refuses to wear a mask.
