Sentara RMH South Main Health Center

Have used these guys for over fifteen years, and have had the opportunity to see most of the doctors during that time. All are exceptionally friendly and attentive to whatever problems I’m facing. Unlike some places, these guys take the time to listen to patient and offer helpful service. In the case of one doctor (Lepley) I had to have a wound stitched up, and the result was a work of art that healed in a just a couple days. Total fan of these guys.
But there’s a reason I’m holding off in giving five stars, and its name is Sentara.
I guess anytime a major corporation takes over a well run organization, rarely do things change for the better, and boy was that true for this place! For starters they removed the X-​Ray and MRI service and moved it to a different location on the other side of town. Maybe they thought people with broken bones enjoy the hassle of driving to a different location to have something tested their doctor recommended. Somehow I doubt the patient was a huge concern.
Which leads to my other gripe. Yesterday I went in for a visit and when I got to the waiting area I found the magazine/​newspaper section was gone. No reading material was available at all. Period. I asked one of the nurses about it and she said Sentara came in last month, did a survey, and removed the publications. Sentara didn’t have the courtesy to explain why they were removing something so fundamental as reading material, but my guess is they thought by getting rid of everything they’d not risk offending the 1 or 2% of people who might have a problem with certain publications, never mind that the remaining 98% of customers will be ticked off.
Typical big-​corporation mindset. Ridiculous.
