I visit coops wherever I go and this one is a winner! It has a great selection including local produce and eggs. The staff were friendly and helpful. The store is clean, well organized and welcoming. Shop here if you visit Harrisonburg.

Unlike a previous reviewer, I found the store staff very friendly and helpful. The prices were a little higher, (same exact egg nog was $ 4.99, wheras I had paid $ 3.99 at Whole Foods two nights earlier in a bigger city), but not outrageous. And the previous reviewer and I are not coop members, so I think that probably factors into pricing as well. It is a nice selection for a small town location.

I seriously question anyone that posts the cost of anything here as reasonable. This is sadly the first review I’ll leave on Unilocal that’s not positive. The staff are always in a cluster at the registers talking and I’ve Never had any of them greet me and most of the time You have to go out of your way to make conversation with one of them to get any communication– EVEN when your AT the register. The guys there are a lot friendlier and actually say hi. No one has ever been out right rude but between the super expensive prices (I’m from SF so it’s surprising the prices here match where I’m from) and the lack of customer service this place is a Huge let down.

The people that work here are knowable and friendly. The store itself has a great selection of organic and local foods. Friendly City has become apart of our weekly shopping routine. They now carry some awesome local beer and wine! Also the large selection of organic chocolate in town (and even soy free chips for baking). Believe me it is pricey but worth it.

Great place for organic and healthy foods. You can find specialty foods here and special brands that you won’t find in any other average grocery store. They only problem is they are pretty pricey.

Hooray for finding a co-​op on vacation! My partner and I were staying at a nearby resort and found much relief here. It is pretty small but has a great selection of anything you might need. It was well laid out and the staff was super friendly.
The veggies and pre-​made foods were fresh and very tasty. And as Cindy mentioned, great Kombucha prices! I would highly recommend shopping here! Just take your time the first time you are finding the place it is a bit hidden.

Great Health Food store — Clean — well stocked, great staff, very low prices. I stopped by on vacation because we were feeling ill. We shopped for vitamins, I bought Kombucha — 2 for $ 5.00 !! (you know I bought a case) some healthy comfort food, GREAT looking fresh fruit and Veggies too. And a set of bamboo reusable personal cutlery and chopsticks in a pouch. Easy parking in a huge parking lot.
The only issue I had was this :
Its hard to find — the sign is facing a side street — so the building looks unmarked — but its right next to Kline’s soft serve ice cream parlour
