I am Chinese and I’ve been back to this place about 4 – 5 times now. I never like any of the«Habachi» place because I’ve had very good ones in Vancouver Canada and I just think Habachi is overall overpriced. Anyway, this Shogun is one of the regular places we go on our«guys night out». Plenty of people have ordered Habachi and they liked it. The reason I am typing this review is that I ordered Thai Seafood Casserole tonight($ 18.95). It is VERY good. It has a bit of sweet curry sauce and the amount of seafood they put in that casserole is amazing. A lot of shrimp, scallops and one decent size lobster tail and plenty of mixed vegetables and white rice and ginger salad. For $ 18.95, it is EXCELLENT. Most seafood places would charge you over $ 20+ for the amount of seafood you get. I also tried Spicy Tuna rolls(again, I almost never order Sushi because I find them overpriced). I was surprised by the spicy tuna roll. It’s actually quite good. I’ve ordered: Thai Mango style with chicken(I didn’t like it that much. Didn’t think mango flavor blended in with the sauce well) Thai Basil style with chicken(better. Good spicy kick) Malaysia Sambal with chicken(I like this one, quite spicy) For an Asian restaurant in Harrisburg, the decoration is impressive. Staff also knows English pretty well! I highly recommend this place if you want a decent Asian restaurant that doesn’t look 100 years old.

Checked in on 12/29/2015. Even on a weekday, nearly all tables were full. The server came and asked if we wanted to sit in the Hibachi section or regular section. We selected Hibachi. The food rating — 5 star, servers were attentive, cook was entertaining. The restaurant has nice décor. I would not call it upscale though, but pleasing. The only reason I took out 1 star is — after finishing the meal, we kept waiting for our server to come, so I could ask for the check. The server of other tables, kept going there for checks or boxes. I called him couple of times, but I don’t think he heard. I will go again for the food — want to try the non Hibachi menu next time.

This is our all time favorite dinner spot, as of now. Also my first pick for moms night out. BEST crab rangoons ever. I only wish the order was larger. ;) Yummy pretty sushi and the only hibachi that my husband will eat. :)

If sushi wanted to open a nightclub, it would be this place. The interior was dimly lit with flashing lights and slightly louder than I would have preferred to hear while eating in a restaurant house music. Our server was nice and attentive, and our food came out fairly quickly. The crab rangoon was very tasty. The miso soup was lukewarm and kind of bland. The«buy one sushi roll, get another for $ 2» is a nice deal. My husband and I both agreed that the sushi was ok. It wasn’t the best sushi we’ve ever had, it wasn’t the worst.

Gem of a place! I’m a huge sushi fan and just recently moved to Harrisburg from NYC. I’ve been on the sushi hunt for a while with no luck! I figured it was just too small of a market for decent sushi. Even though the quality of the fish was good — but only good — it was well made with generous portions and excellent rice. The atmosphere is awesome and it’s empty in the afternoon. That’s perfect for us because we can have a quiet«date night» in an environment that feels like a late evening dinner in the middle of the day without the noise. So it’s great conversation and good drinks and food! Speaking of drinks, it’s not their specialty but they had some good and creative options. Servers are knowledgable, helpful, and polite. My S.O. had a traditional cooked dish with brown sauce and it was excellent. We can’t wait to go back and try the hibachi with friends.

Great food. Complimentary appetizer when we were seated was delicious. We ordered from all over the menu and everything from the sushi rolls to the pad Thai to the fried rice was perfect. Sam was our server and she was attentive and friendly. Will surely be back.

Went here for lunch one day. Good Asian menu full of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai options. Decent prices. I did not do the hibachi so unsure how that is. Nicely decorated. Fast service.

Went here for the first time and it was amazing! Staff was so friendly and our hibachi chef was very engaging and funny. I’ve never been to a hibachi place that serves fried rice AND noodles so it was unexpected and really nice. Their seafood sauce was fantastic as well. Definitely a place to go to again!

Was surprised by the quality of sushi– by that I mean they don’t cheat you out of a roll by filling it with cream cheese. I wish they had a bigger selections; however for 2 bucks for a second roll, their prices are SUPERB for PA. Also the smoked salmon was the perfect ratio of rice and fish! Not too thick or salty. Definitely my haunt for sushi until I find another place to compare that is… As far as recommendations, I’d stick to the rolls, the hibachi is eh. And I’ve had their main dishes which just feels like I’m paying for overhyped asian/chinese/asian food, which I can make myself So go for dem rolls! Try them all for fun because why not?!

Shogun is my favorite sushi place in the Harrisburg area. The interior is bold, but I love it. It’s like what I imagine a futuristic underground club would look like. The staff is consistently lovely and attentive, I’ve never had a bad waiter here. The sushi is great, the rolls are a little more expensive than other places, but the«buy one get one for $ 2» deal makes up for it. They have a wide variety of rolls; more than some of the smaller restaurants. Ive found that sushi is a great place to go to get good vegan/vegetarian food because there are veggie rolls, salads, and appetizers that can totally replicate the fish-sushi experience. The soups are really good, too! I’ve never had hibachi here, so I can’t speak to its virtues. Overall, always a good time, but we end up spending more money than we expect… Probably because it’s so hard to choose what to get!

I’ve been back a few times since my initial review and I wanted to up my rating. The food is delicious. Sushi is fresh and the coconut curry chicken is fantastic!

We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful! We definitely will stop in the next time we are in the area. The Angry Dragon Roll was epic!!! The children had BBQ Salmon and Teriaki Salmon, Yaki Udon and California Rolls. They enjoyed their food immensely.

I have eaten here a number of times over the past two years and had I written my review the first two times, I could have given it 4 stars. After all, it is a very nicely decorated place with a relaxing environment. The visit just previous to this one I was less than impressed. And now, I’m not going to recommend this for the sushi ATALL! Here is why: When they first opened they were a BYOB which is great at a sushi place. You can bring your own bottle of wine or Saki and your money is spent on the sushi. The first few times, the sushi was great. Good quality, good variety, great presentation. Then they got there liquor license and it seemed they started focusing more on having fancy mixed cocktails and expensive bottles of wine than the sushi. We used to come here for the Shogun Signature Roll special where you ordered a special roll for $ 13-$ 16 and got the second roll for $ 1. We each got 2 rolls which allowed us to sample 4 different kinds and for about $ 15 each we not only had dinner, but lunch the next day. They have raised that to $ 2 for the second roll, which would be a bargain IF it was quality sushi. Last night I was there with a large group of friends for sushi(remember, this review is about their sushi, not the hibachi or other menu items)… We all ordered a variety of special rolls so that each of us could sample several. What stood out to me was every roll was missing sashimi. It didn’t matter what the description on the menu said, every roll contained the same(minced or pureed) mystery fish purée mixture. It had no flavor and did not seem fresh(it wasn’t spicy tuna with the sauce). For me, sushi rolls are about the FRESH ingredients, the sashimi on top or inside, the rice, the roe and the veggies. I’ve attached pictures of the following so you can see the mystery purée and there was no fish on the«outside» as described. I would wonder how they make a Rainbow Roll. Spicy Girl Roll 13.95 Inside: spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber Outside: spicy salmon, jalapeño & wasabi mayo Three Musketeer Roll 13.95 Spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail, avocado, crunchy in soy nori, served with spicy mayo and hot chili sauce As for the service, the wait staff are attentive when you first come in and order but then tend to leave you alone… which makes it hard to get a drink refill. There are better options in this area so I won’t likely return here for sushi. Maybe the hibachi?

Love the sushi here. I always get the buy one get one for a dollar deal. No I don’t share, yes I’m greedy that way. My fave is the spicy girl roll. The décor is awesome, I could totally see this being a nice hip date spot or somewhere you get dressed up to go to for dinner with the girls. But ah this is Harrisburg, so casual dress is a must in order to fit in. This place could contend with RA Sushi if it were in a different city. The hibachi grill side of the restaurant offers the typical hibachi experience, food is great of course. Give it a try.

10 of us went in sober and bored, 8 of us left saki bombed. EVERYONE had a great time. Hibachi is so fun. Especially when you get a good chef. Ours was a 2 year veteran who was sociable and funny. We caught food in our mouths and our breasts… well that was just me… but a riot none-the-less. There was also the great Saki competition that involved 3 people and the rest counting the seconds the chef was squirting Saki in our mouths. Winner: 20 seconds! (IE: Don’t buy the large saki with hibachi, as they will dump that amount in your mouth for free!) This place USED to be a really shitty china buffet that was pretty, pretty gross. Well the renovations here are amazing: Great lighting, cool looking bar. The hibachi is also separated from the regular dining because, well, they are a ruckus. (I wouldn’t want to be seated next to us for a regular dinner.) This is good because if you like sushi — this is the place! As good as Sapporo East but less expensive! They have the specialty sushi rolls buy one get one for $ 2. Always. You cannot beat that. I recommend a Green Hulk and the Crunchy Rolls. Also — if you can fit it in, try the coconut sorbet. So good, and served in a coconut shell! Yummmmmmy. ALL in ALL: I wish they didn’t take over the old nasty china buffet that was there just because when I recommended this place to others, they all thought it was still the dirty ass china buffet. I had to tell them«No! Its different and better! You will be impressed!»

I was impressed with their décor and bar/restaurant set up, but the service was way too slow. Our party waited at our table for 45 mins before they took our order. The teppenyaki-style cooking show was done well and stands on par with similar establishments in the area. Shame service was so lacking.

another Unilocal!win miso was warm with lots of seaweed: yum! lettuce wraps were so good. probably my favorite part of the meal. little lettuce halves and do-it-yourself topping. i think i uploaded a picture. sushi: both in rice paper. they were solid, but now spectacular. house special roll three musketeers roll what was spectacular was buy one, get one for $ 2. no brainer. waitress was quick on filling water. fun, colorful lighting. hibachi cut off from main dining so we didn’t have to hear the sizzle. the music was common in the asian fusion circles: upbeat, odd cover songs done by unknown artists. i’d totally go again.

What a neat, modern sushi/hibachi bar! I loved the water fountains and décor. Many bright colors against a black background. It was a calming but vibrant atmosphere. My friend and I ordered crab Rangoon, chicken fried rice, crunchy roll, tempura shrimp roll, philly roll and California roll. It was a feast! The crab Rangoon was perfectly cooked and crunchy. The chicken fried rice had a nice mix of veggies and chicken. The rolls were perfectly done. I also enjoyed a pomegranate margarita. At first, I thought the price was a bit high($ 9), but it was huge! I liked that they used fresh pomegranate. Nothing tasted artificial. It was delicious! We had a delightful evening here, and I hope to go back one day soon! Delicious food, drinks, great service and superb ambience! Highly recommend it!

Great food, welcoming and attentive staff, and great show. I go to hibachi places because I love the food and the show. This place captured it all. We started off with the traditional soup and ginger salad. The chef came immediately to the table so we were eating and watching. He performed all the jokes and interacted with the guests. We were served fried rice with garlic(yum!), noodles, shrimp appetizer(2), vegetables, and our meal. My partner ordered the shrimp which were cooked well, and I ordered the chicken which was perfectly cooked. During the show, they threw zucchini to catch instead of shrimp which was fine. We enjoyed the use of garlic throughout the meal. Overall, we would return again due the great show, food, and customer service from the manager and staff!

It was our last night at Harrisburg/Hersey, PA for our Memorial Day weekend. We were looking for some decent and modest with good reviews restaurant in the area. We were under the impression that there’s nothing really going on in this town on Sunday evenings. Enter the Shogun asian fusion sushi and hibachi restaurant. After double checking with the restaurant, we were assured that they were indeed open and they’re located at the Paxton Town Center where leading retail stores are located. The wait staff greeted us and lead us to one of the hibachi tables that can accommodate up to 8 people. I started my dinner with a hot sake since cold is not available at that time. We were given a menu which is very easy to understand. I ordered a shrimp and salmon combination hibachi that includes mushroom soup and vegetable salad with ginger dressing. As soon as we’re done with the soup and salad, the cook showed up and started with his«act» by tossing food at us to catch in our mouths and I found this very entertaining. He started frying the eggs for the fried rice followed by the fried noodles. He then continued cooking the rest of the orders from the table such as NY strips, scallops and few salmon pieces. I consider this to be one of my funnest dinners in a while. The food was sumptuous and made us contented and delighted after dinner.
