The food and service are great. When I want Chinese food, this is the first place I think of. The chicken lo mein is my favorite.

We tried the chinese place for take out… we were skeptical from the second we walked in to place out order. Everyone was sitting in the dinning area, must be family run, and that must have been the family. got home with our orderThe food was way over fried, crab Rangoon tasted like used old grease was being used(crab rangoon are fried). we tosed it out, not even edible. beef chop suey was chunky. Again not edible… Whatever oil they use is terrible… We dont like rating at a 1, so ill give it 2 stars, but this place is unfriendly and old, old décor… not good!

I would say this is very good Chinese food for southern Illinois. We got take out. The restaurant looks like it needs dusting on the fixture up by the ceiling. We got fried rice veggie and shrimp and broccoli entrée. Husband said it was decent. I grew up here and have since lived all over the country. He is from NY.

Peking Palace has been a mainstay in Harrisburg as an authentic Chinese Food restaurant for well over 30 years now. Once people get a taste of Peking Palace’s food and affordable prices(most under $ 10), it’s hard to beat it even in big metropolitan areas that have a sizable Chinese population. Out of towners and even out of staters tend to prefer Peking Palace’s food to even their local favorite Chinese restaurants. The restaurant is owned and run by a local Chinese family as far back as I can remember. Probably the best part of their menu is the Egg Drop Soup. Very lite chicken broth mix with egg whites. Other restaurants serve egg drop as a thick soupy stuff. The entrees are very good as well. Nice variety of meat and vegetable combos with either white or fried rice.

Peking Palace is my favorite place for Chinese food. I make sure to get it at least once every time I visit. Even my(very) picky fiancé now loves Chinese food ever since I brought him there. My fiancé always gets the orange chicken and fried rice. I like the pepper steak, assorted meats, fried rice, crab rangoon, egg drop soup, and orange chicken. This is the standard of Chinese food by which all others are measured.

went in May of 2012 This place is decent. The food is great, okay sized portions and decent taste. Wish the menu said what was in them though, didn’t know the General Tsu had pineapple in it and I’m allergic. No decoration and low lighting in the eating area though. By the cashier it looks a little cluttered and dirty. Made me skeptical to eat. They do not accept debit or credit so bring cash. They won’t accept checks if you don’t live in Harrisburg. Heard they recently cleaned it up though.

Most dishes taste the same The kitchen is not well ventilated They burn the eggrolls way too much The chicken noodle soup is all I like. I will however say, if you have a sensitive pallette and wanna try chinese, this will be a highly americanized version that most folks will find pallettable. I like this restaurant but it could be way better. I have always had friendly wonderful service and i like the people who work here :). Its some of the food that needs some updating!

I started coming to this place when I was a little girl. I wouldn’t try Chinese food at the time, so they let me bring a Happy Meal in and have it while my parents ate there. Eventually, I got old enough to give Asian cuisine a try. And that began my long love affair with Peking Palace, specifically the beef and broccoli and wonton soup. The food is awesome and crazy inexpensive, the service is good, and the owner is always there with a smile when you check out. I moved away from the ‘burg to California. Now I live in the middle of Koreatown and I’m within walking distance to probably more than 25 Asian dining establishments, including at least 5 Chinese places. None of them hold a candle to Peking Palace! I will go completely out of my way to go there anytime I’m in Illinois.
