Oak Grove Rest Area I-5 Southbound

We wanted a map of Oregon, but the information booth only had commercial tourist junk. No maps.
Then I was taken for a fool by the rainbow bus people begging for money. I’ve read reports that they are there often. I was just trying to be a good person and got tricked by professional beggars. Why does the state allow panhandling?

I’ll keep it brief here, but I stopped here to let my dog out to pop a squat and was surprised by the amount of room to get out and stretch your legs. They have practically a full walking area for pets so you hopefully don’t have any issues with your dog getting distracted.
They have two bathroom buildings to help with those that park further down. The bathroom was okay. Not dirty but not hyper clean. There was a panhandler outside the bathroom of all places.
There was a tourist/​map area in the case you needed help getting to you destination or things to do while there.
There are picnic tables and lots of room for trucks/​trailer. Pretty nice rest stop. No gas though.

It’s been about 3 hours since the last stop, so it’s time to let the pupster stretch his legs and water as many trees as he can. :-) I see the signs and exit.
This rest area is approx. 13 miles north of Eugene, OR, but I would much rather stop here than in the city. It’s exactly what someone traveling needs! Easy off and back on the highway access, room to stretch your legs, restrooms, picnic area, water, etc.
There is a good size pet area WITH baggies so you can pick up after your pet!

there is also drinking Water, telephones and vending machine.
Each of the rest areas I stopped at in Oregon were lush and beautiful.

We stopped here on our road trip and it was nice to see a very clean rest stop!!! Bathroom were great and the landscape was well maintained! Great pit stop!
