I get sushi here for lunch about once or twice a month. It’s right next to the library on 29th Street, and it’s never busy. I love that. Their sushi rolls are always 50% off, which turns out to be a better deal than the sushi lunch specials. I like that I can order online for a certain time. Their sushi is some of the best in Harrisburg, and I’ve only ever had to wait a long time once. I’ve never ordered delivery, so I can’t speak for how quick that is, but take out is usually pretty prompt.

On their website, they have a coupon(as of 12÷24÷15) for 50% off on Sushi rolls. Neat ! I ordered 5 items on the website– They use Beyondmenu, a system for ordering online. This is where my trouble starts. The Sub Total on the website was 47.35. We got all rolls, so we got all rolls 50% off. 50% of 47.35 is rounded to 23.68. The tax is 6% of the sub total before discounts, which was 2.841, rounded to 2.84. The website says there is no delivery fee, just a minimum of $ 20. We reached $ 20, even with the discount. So, the total we got from the website was 26.51. The receipt the delivery person gave us was totaled to 27.58 because they included the delivery fee in the receipt, not as an Additional Charge, which increased the tax to 2.90. So there was a $ 1.07 difference in the receipts I was given. I’m not being stingy. I wasn’t sure if the delivery person was trying to stiff me. I’m just stating this as my experience; It was a little shock when I went to pay. I gave them a ~$ 10 tip anyhow, with it being Christmas Eve, so it didn’t matter. —- The sushi was alright. I had the Manhattan, Red Lion, Green River, and Unagi w/Avocado, and TNT. We made a note for the TNT to be level 8 spicy on the website, and on the receipt, it was marked as «- Spicy». It wasn’t spicy at all, it just had spicy mayo drizzled on top. Wouldn’t get again. The cucumber in the green river didn’t seem to be fresh or crunchy at all, but I thought it tasted alright. The tuna on the Red Lion roll was a bit overpowering for the rest of the roll– The balance of the roll seemed very off, but I don’t like masago very much. Would’ve prefered tobiko, and maybe another lighter fish on top. Wouldn’t get again. Everything else was decent.

If you’re hungry, don’t EVER order delivery. My order took over an hour. I ordered sushi and the ginger was old and dry.

One hour and 40 minutes later, and still waiting for my delivery… This is unacceptable for any restaurant.

Before I moved out of Harrisburg I used to eat here often. Now, I just make sure to stop by and grab a bento box when I visit. The staff is super polite and the place is super clean. The food is great and the music is so relaxing. Great place to take a date or have a business meeting. Just make sure to make reservations for that date or business meeting. It does get full sometimes during the evening hours. Try it once and you’ll at least like it, even if you think your picky(I know because I’m).

Got there before any dinner rush(4:15pm) and was able to have a very enjoyable, intimate meal with my wife. Service was great. Sushi was professionally prepared. Will be back.

We have always enjoyed the food here, it is good, but last night we were mislead and overcharged. We had a coupon/certificate for $ 25 off and they only let us use about a dollar of it due to another promotion they had going. We paid way more for our dinner than expected and they were unapologetic and did not offer to make things right. On top of all that the service was horrible, took over two hours to get in an out of a sushi dinner — that’s BONKERS!

Copied over from my review on TripAdvisor Fantastic Food(Dim Sum and Sushi), Reasonable Prices, Don’t Hesitate to Visit Dined here twice now for brunch and both times were with different family that I consider to be picky eaters — no one has left disappointed. The food here is simply great — fresh, well prepared, nice presentation, and most importantly tasty. The dim sum offerings are FANTASTIC — we tried numerous dishes and honestly there wasn’t anything that we didn’t like. Our favorites: shrimp dumplings, spicy kani bowl, stuffed eggplant, and pork buns. And by the way, this is the only restaurant I know of in the area that offers dim sum and thank God it’s good at that :-). Their sushi offerings were also very good and offer quality on par with the best places in the area. However, avoid the hibachi dinners which were the only thing we ate that was disappointing if not bad. To be honest, we were hesitant to come here because while reviews were good, there weren’t very many of them and these guys don’t exactly advertise. Suffice to say, we are happy we took the jump to come and highly recommend others to visit. Don’t be fooled when you come in given they aren’t exactly a busy restaurant which is a shame — they definitely deserve more business but perhaps the location and lack of advertising is hurting them.

Sorry for the short, boring review. This place is very good and the service was great. We’ll be back again and again.

They have great sushi. Great variety. Wednesday special is buy two get one. The tea is never ever hot and if you have a large party the staff is overwhelmed.

Excellent sushi, very polite waitress. They have buy 2 get one free special rolls on Wednesday and Sunday. I have 2 complaints. They will not prevent me from going back, but just a warning for others. They automatically charge an 18% tip, even for a party of 2. I did not see this advertised anywhere and actually gave a really good tip(30%) the evening we went. When I looked at my receipt the next morning to deduct from my checking, I noticed they had already factored the 18%. So essentially they got a 50% tip. I called to talk to them about it and they said they even charge the 18% tip for takeout. Also, when you buy coupons from , it does NOT say this on their website, but you CANNOT use the gift certificates for certain items. I bought 5 certificates so this should be interesting… Like I said, the sushi there is really good but pay attention about the tip because they even said it’s not written anywhere on their menu that they do that.

Used a coupon last night for dinner at Mitaka: Food — I had a nice variety of offerings from Mitaka, so I feel like I can confidently say they do many things well. We started off with an order of green mussels, shrimp shumai, and chicken udon noodles. The menu suggested that you could only get noodles in soup form, but we asked and our waitress put in an order to have them stir fried instead. The shrimp shumai was excellent, it basically melts in the mouth and the flavors are great. The mussels were in a spicy sauce, both the mussels and the accompanying sauce were delicious. The noodles were spot on too. We perused the sushi menu while eating the rest of our food and decided on a Dynamite Roll and the Ocean Medley Roll. The food quality that we observed with our first round of selections definitely carried over to the sushi. Both rolls were fresh and wonderfully flavorful. The specialty rolls are all around $ 12 – 14, which seems to be pretty standard. We’ve had sushi at 4+ places in the Harrisburg area, and this was definitely our favorite so far. Service /Location — We arrived at around 8, so there was only one other table occupied for our dinner. I didn’t look around too much, but there seemed to be ample seating for the type of restaurant that it is. The service was attentive and everything we ordered arrived at our table shortly after. Obviously not a difficult task with only two tables of patrons, but even so it was very quick. Will definitely be back!

I decided to swing by here since it is only about 5 minutes from our house and pick up some take out. They have dim sum advertised on the outside, so I asked what they offer and it was a small selection. I was able to get yakitori, spring rolls and aged tofu though and all were quite good. I ordered a couple of rolls off the ala carte menu including hamachi which was good, the total for 5 menu choices was less than 28 dollars and it satisfied both of us so I can’t complain, the food was fresh tasting and the teriyaki sauce was good. I got a nice kick out of the wasabi which cleared my sinuses. I recommend them if you are in the area, the service was friendly and the interior has a nice ambience.

Just ordered take out, friendly and understandable phone service;also FYI it was ready within the half hour. I loved every roll, scorpion was outta this city, but even the simple rolls like red roof are so good. I come here often and like seeing the small little girl that runs around. It’s good to know she’ll have a great collage education. With that being said, does Fuji-do have such a spectacular menu of hand rolls like the 40+ Mikita offers? Average price a roll is 12 But $$ saved with BYBO. Haay.

I’m not a sushi or dim sum connoisseur, but Mitaka’s is our go-to place for great sushi in Central PA. The prices are quite reasonable and the fare is similar to Miyako’s in downtown Harrisburg. Lots of rolls to choose from as well as great entrees like bento boxes, soup, dim sum appetizers, etc. The wait staff is friendly and their is never a wait. But that’s not because of a lack of quality, but rather from being a bit off the beaten path. The atmosphere is excellent, but I’ve been there enough to know they play the same Asian-sounding soundtrack over and over again. I’d suggest they mix that up a bit more and get something a bit less cliché.

The more I read other reviews, the more I’m convinced most people have no concept of space or size. «Mitaka is small.» Really? You call 35 tables and a sushi bar small? Count people. Granted I haven’t been to the Great Sushi Hall of Osaka that can fit the space shuttle(RIP). Nor I have I been to Tokyos’s Godzilla Steak and Sushidome. But I’ve also been to countless western Sushi Bars where it’s you and 12 people who are going to be your best friends because they’re sitting on your lap. Mitaka has plenty of room. Quality was good. The scallop maki was fileted instead of circular, which is different. Service was prompt. The price was a little on the high side. Another reviewer said 120% of «usual» and I agree. For my next trick I will now teach Unilocalers the power of perspective and relativity.

I dig Mitaka. The sushi is comprable to other area sushi restaurants. Good but not stellar. If you want something amazing try the Dim Sum. I had never had Dim Sum before but went with a few friends to try it out. There is a seperate Dim Sum menu and it has a lot of selections on it. I’m not a huge meat eater but did enjoy the shrimp dumplings and tried the pork skin which even as someone who doesn’t do much meat I found very good. The service is fairly quick and friendly, although speed depends on number of tables in the restaurant with you. Try this place out though. It’s really different then anything else I know of in the Burg and worth a try!

Made a second visit to Mitaka with Dim Sum on my mind. I don’t understand why they advertise Dim Sum on their sign out front but don’t have it on the regular menu. Anyway make sure to ask for the Dim Sum menu, they have quite a few choices. I’m not an expert but the turnip cake and phoenix claw(chicken feet) we got were both very tasty. I did order the house dumplings but they never came, no big deal bc after the TNT roll and Ocean Medley Roll we were stuffed anyhow. Both rolls were excellent. I was surprised at how packed the place was, I mean every table was full so they must be doing something right! Cool place, I definitely recommend trying both the Dim Sum and sushi. Oh and the red bean tempura ice cream was also delish!

Visited today for the first time, it is located in what was the old Phở Pasteur building, on south 29th street. The interior of the restaurant was very nice & upscale, they had a large modern sushi bar. Plates, dishes & silverware were good also. Ordered a few things from the menu, 3 rolls for 11.95, a large yaki udon seafood soup(8.00) and a chicken bento box 8.00. I had originally asked for breaded pork, which it had on the menu, but I was told it wasnt available yet, kind of dissappointed me. The food came eventually, there were a few other groups of people, three families of 3 or 4 people, and another couple. The head owner-lady offered us a highchair for our daughter, and was very polite, taking the time to talk to us when the meal was over. She explained that Miyako, Mitaka, Mt Fuji and York(shema?) are all related branches. Prices are kind of standard, a little bit more expensive that I’ve seen elsewhere, I’d say 120% of other locations. special rolls ranging from 4.99 to 11.95. the sushi & bentobox was just OK, the soup was good. we also ordered dim sum platter(8.50), which my wife & her mother liked.
