Stopped in about a week ago; we work at an office a couple blocks away and were tired of the usual place we order pizza from. I was going to order a pie, bring it back… and if we liked it, this place would have large weekly orders from our bldg. Walk in, up to counter… say hi to the lady working there, she just looked at me and walked over to the counter to give a guy his order. Two people came in next, she asked them what they wanted… I’m still standing there, I’m sure I was noticed but before I could ask her if I could order she was turned and back to the oven area. So, she turns around… gives the order to the guy at the oven. I’m standing there… watching the little toddler in the prep area, bouncing a little ball off the floor, on the counter… wherever… I’m sure that’s not something the Dept. of Health would like in the prep area. So… waiting. She walks back to the counter, just as another guy comes in. He’s almost right next to me, and she turns away from me, asks him what he would like. At this point, I got the hint… Shame, since my money is the same color as anybody else’s money… and it was only a short walk down to the Market to take my business there with no attitude or ignorance.

Love this place for food when downtown bar hopping. They always seem to be open and someone in our group always yells lets go to «Mercado’s «@ some point in the evening.

Food might be great but service is so bad it isn’t worth the trouble. Call and order dinner, probably spent $ 40(which is what we spent at Celina’s who we ordered from after you hung up on me twice). Was told we’d get a call back with a total, didn’t get it. An hour later call to check on order, «we tried to call you, we didn’t get an answer so we didn’t make it.» Well sorry Counter Joe, our phones were both sitting here, nothing rang. You said you’d try again… Nothing rang. You were rude and hung up on me twice. My boyfriend ordered from you often, we won’t be back if I have anything to say about it. Learn customer service – you just insulted two people who have 15+ years of food/hospitality experience. There are much better places to take your business to a mom and pop shop in the area that treat their customers with courtesy. You will not get that here.

The staff can be a bit grumpy but that’s part of its charm. Great pizza and can’t beat the prices.

My rating is based on the taste of their pizza. I don’t have anything negative to say about their service. I walk in, I order, I pay, I get my order, and I walk out. it’s a mom n’ pop, hole in the wall type shop. I LOVE their pizza! I refuse to eat chain restaurants pizza, who’s dough tastes like bisquick. Mercado’s has the best tasting & best priced pizza in this area. Their slices are humongous. Never greasy/oily. I actually threw a Halloween party this year and I pre-ordered 8 pies. Not only were they ready on time, but the one guy even carried them to my car & loaded them up for me. And everyone at my party loved the pizza. So Boooooo to all ya’ll haterzzz!

i can’t stress enough – this pizza is best enjoyed hot. you gotta get the slices hot. sure, the people in there suck, but you’re in midtown harrisburg. if you don’t wanna get your pizza around meth heads, tweakers and zombies, go over to lemoyne or enola. this is good, dirty, street pizza. i recommend going around 1:30 on a friday night. order more slices than they have ready so the dude has to make a fresh pie, and get ready for an express trip to flavor town. when served hot, the sauce is a delicious molten spicy extravaganza. the cheese acts in unison as it slides its greasy way down your throat. the crust – airy, but still fulfilling. mercado’s is exactly what it appears to be: a corner pizza shop. don’t expect more than that and you won’t be disappointed.

I live down the street from this place, so I really want to say nice things, however, my experiences here have been terrible. These are some of the rudest employees I have ever encountered anywhere, I’m sorry it’s an inconvenience to take my order and treat me like a decent human being… They are consistently slow and rude and rarely get an order right, but if you try to correct them they have nothing nice to say. I live in this neighborhood and can absolutely say that I will never be back. I would rather starve then deal with the rudeness in this establishment.

Don’t do it!!! If you are looking for someone to walk away and half hear you while you are placing your order than this is the spot for you. If you are looking for bitter employees that would rather tell you to go screw than offer you a meal, this is for you. If your looking for a place where METH-HEADS are encouraged to skirt the line and get service, please COMEONDOWN!!! FMFU

Went in on my lunch break and they were shocked I was ordering food. Kept rushing me every time I told them I needed a minute to look at the menu. Also I know not their fault but there was a creepy older gentleman who must be a regular there that kept hitting on me and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Finally stopped when the pizza guy stepped in. My tuna sub was ok, but I probably won’t return there

First off the pizza is terrible. About as far from delicious NYC pie as you can get in Hbg. super-doughy and low quality sauce and cheese. The place is disgusting, and here’s why: I walk through midtown everyday to and from work. The sidewalk outside Mercados has about 20 times more cigarette butts on it than any other in the city. It’s like a mine field obstacle course, which punishes you with butts stuck in your shoes which you drag home. The bulk of them collect outside the Boas St employee-only kitchen door. I often see the owner Dennis Bryant, with his kitchen apron on, standing in the side doorway smoking away, and personally seen him flick his butt right there on the walk. Which tells me not only do they not care to keep the sidewalk clean for their neighbors and customers, the restaurant owner is responsible for tossing butts outside his own business making it look like a toilet. Not a single butt receptacle found anywhere outside this place. He seem sto be ok with tossing them into their neighborhood where good people live and care about the community. Not trashing it. Screw you Mercados, signed your neighbors. If that’s how they care for their neighborhood, I’m sure they treat their food with the same disgusting contempt.

Our bosses chose to get us Pizza from Mercado’s for Employee Appreciation day. I was thankful and had 2 slices –pepperoni and cheese. The crust is good and hand tossed style. I like the amount of cheese even if uneven on the slices. The sauce is not great, but good, basically flavor of tomato paste. I consider it your standard local Pizza — not outstanding, but not bad either.

This little joint is around the corner from me, so it’s convenient for take out. I’ve had their meatball sub which is pretty good. The pizza is pretty tasty too. I like the sauce. It’s got a nice, fresh herbiness to it. However, at $ 1.50 each, they are skimpy on the toppings.

Its a shame, nice atmosphere, clean. has bar and serves alcohol. Came in around 4:30 on a saturday. They had no one that could make a pizza they called in a cook from another location. Beer glass was cracked and there 16 oz are cheaper then there pints of draft. First impression will not be back unless it changes hands. Bring in a brooklyn, bronx or queens NY pizza chef and I will come back

Mercado’s has beer by the bottle — even appearing to sell them by the bottle — and while they don’t stock a multitude of different beers, you probably can find something you like, unless you’re a total beer snob. Stopped in randomly to pick up a six-pack of beer, and received a paper bag with the cold bottles, sans carrying case. It was a lazy Sunday, and not quite dinner time yet, so it was empty save for the guy who carded and charged us, and a few folks drinking beer/soda. The interior’s cozy enough, and I’d return to sit by the window and snack on pizza. Can’t beat Mercado’s convenient location(convenient to a lot of homes, anyway), availability of street parking, and the fact that they take credit cards.
