Are you kidding me? Frankly the best experience in costal dining. Cash only… Get over it. Seafood chowder that is out of this world. Steamed lobster from ocean to plate in 30 minutes. Just keep the butter. It’s not needed with such fresh lobstah! Fried whole belly clams crisp and meaty. Even the fries are perfect. No, not Maine taters either.(Maine potatoes don’t fry as well) Bring a chair. Have a seat and take in the scenery. Go down and visit Tommy/Toby and let him pick a winner from his ocean fed lobster tank.

This was the best seafood shack experience of our trip. We took about a 45 min detour to visit Erica’s and it was 100% worth it. The combination of fresh, delicious seafood and the beautiful setting makes Erica’s one of my all-time favorite seafood shacks… joining its peers on the Chesapeake and in the Caribbean. Our food order for 2… — 1 bowl of clam chowder: Literally 2⁄3 of the container was clam meat, with the odd mussel mixed in. Never seen that much meat in a chowder and loved it. It was creamy and delicious. As my friend found out, a bowl order for one person is ambitious. — 1 cup of seafood chowder: Also had tons of meat. Lobster, clam, mussel, and shrimp. Very tasty and a easier portion to manage. Creamy and warm, which was great for the chilly day. — 1 lobster roll: My favorite lobster roll of the trip. You could really taste the lobster and there was a good amount of meat on the roll. Bun was perfectly toasted and so good I had to go back for another one. Only $ 12, which was a nice treat compared to some of the other stands. **Went back for more… — 1 lobster roll Erica’s is on a small dock area and has a gorgeous view or the land, islands, and ocean around the peninsula. Really relaxing and everything I want while eating seafood. They also offer live lobster and crabs to buy and will cook them for you for $ 1 per lobster. Will definitely be coming back. I would consider a monthly trip up from Boston for this place. Thanks Erica’s!!!

10 lobster rolls in 3 days along the Maine and Massachusetts coasts. LOVEDDDDDDD this place. Of all places, this was probably my favorite. Considerations: — Price ~$ 13/roll — Freshness — Options for ice cream(which I didn’t get) — Location — just over the hill from where the sunsets. — They answer their phone to confirm they’re open. So wandering around the ‘island’ we found that while many of the places claimed they were open on Unilocal and Google, they were in fact closed for the off season. This place was open around mid-May. Lobster Roll — you get a decent amount of lobster in the roll. It’s not overstuffed with extras, just the roll and lobster. Time this visit perfectly with the sunset and you could watch the sun go down on a beautiful beach.

I would like to keep this a secret for the local clientele, but I have to rate such a wonderful place. This is take out at its best. You are sitting on the water, with tables to sit at. This location is BYOB, so that’s good. Also, the staff is friendly, courteous, and polite. My wife loves their seafood, and I enjoy their land meat. She recommends the Crabster – a crab and lobster roll. This is what it is, an outdoor seated lobster shack, on the water, by the wharf. Keep a few things in mind. Again, BYOB. Also, bring cash. I don’t know of ANY ATMs down there, so bring cash, because that is all they accept. Their seafood is local and fresh. If you want good seafood in a nice comfortable, outdoors environment, come here. Also, don’t forget sweatshirts, even during summer, it is chilly on the water in Maine. I highly recommend.

While I’m holding a star for the cash only thing… the food was top notch. It was an out. of the way drive to get here, but well worth it. Huge portions, homemade everything except the dipping sauces, and seating right near the dock where the ocean goodies are pulled in gives this place a big time edge. Soft shell lobsters were a steal at 7 dollars for a 1.25 pounder. The native shrimp basket was filled to the top of lightly flour dusted shrimps fried for just a moment till done and not a second more and hand cut fried which were tasty. The special, shrimp cakes, were good… browned on the flat top with a chili mayo. Fried belly clams were done just like the shrimp, served with fried and just perfect… not overdone in the least. Again, I’m keeping a star for cash only service, but the other four I present to them proudly!

Great food at pretty good prices. Lobster rolls are $ 12.00. We actually went next door where they keep the live lobster and they sell them for $ 5.00 a pound plus $ 1.00 to steam them. We picked out 4 lobsters and they were delicious! Big claws and big tails! It’s an outdoor dining experience and well worth the travel time to visit!

The nicest staff and best lobster roll I’ve ever had. Stumbled upon this gem today on a drive. Amazing outdoor seating area with both sun and shade options. Simple menu with a grilled cheese for 2.25! Cole slaw was pretty awesome as well. Lobster was highest quality and $ 12 for a decent-sized roll. Top 5 lunch meals ever(and I’ve eaten some pretty awesome lunches) Get the lobster roll even if you think you don’t like lobster.

Classic Maine outdoors/lo-frills eatery… in a market where often lobster rolls are more roll than lobster, this place delivers the goods. Great pricing matches the quality, with a beautiful view of the harbor. The only complaint was that drinks = use limited vending machine on the premises. BYOBeverage is a must.

Could not have better seafood… we tried a variety if items and all were outstanding. Crabster roll, fried clams and seafood chowder were awesome and very reasonably priced, and very generous portions. They steamed a lobster I picked out of the tank… it was sweet, juicy and succulent. gorgeous location with great views, good prices, great food… well worth driving out of your way to visit !! They stayed open past closing to steam a large lobster for me to bring home… most gracious and friendly hosts!

Great food! Got the crabster, and it was so yummy! They really stuff the rolls full of meat, and rolls are a good size. Got the sweet potato fries and cole slaw too. Yum :) Also got an order of shrimp cakes and was a bit disappointed because they were burnt. But the taste was pretty good; but they do have a kick to them… so just be aware when ordering. Food is worth the wait even if the line is long. Definitely will be back!

If you find yourself in Harpswell you have to try Erica’s. Fast, friendly service and the haddock sandwich was excellent. The seafood chowder is awesome and the fried clams were clean and tasty. You have to take the road less traveled to get there but well worth it.

Our first visit, based on the great Unilocal reviews we’ve read. Our group ordered the clam basket, oyster basket, and a lobster roll. All the food was great. Nice light breading on the seafood and the fries were great. Nice lobster roll on a toasted bun without heavy dressing. We came by boat, and if you were, check in by phone to make sure that you don’t block the lobster boats. Very friendly people.

Recently paid two visits to Erica’s and hope to go back again on our annual trip to Maine. The first experience was walk up and order lunch for three people. Worked perfectly. Food came relatively quickly and was super delicious(Fried Clams). I was so pleased with this experience that I decided to round up the whole extended family(13 people) and have dinner there. Using their menu on the website, I called a couple of hours ahead and ordered all the food so it would be ready when we arrived. Sure enough, when we got there(at the agreed time), everything was ready, freshly prepared and ready to eat. We were all able to sit at the long table made of two picnic tables and have our feast. With this size crowd we were able to sample just about everything on the menu and it was all excellent. Beware the haddock basket — it’s huge! The fried scallops were another highlight. One tip: at least for now, Erica’s does not serve any drinks. You have to step over to the Pepsi products vending machine and get water or soft drinks there. HOWEVER, you CANBYOB — including beer and wine. And by the way, prices are GREAT! The basket of clams at Erica’s with coleslaw and french fries is $ 15 — not the $ 23 bucks it is most places. And the generous lobster roles are an amazing 2 for $ 20, which is way better than the $ 15 – 20 you see most other places. But note Erica’s is CASHONLY. Aside from the food, which is excellent, the friendliness of the staff, the number of local residents you see there, and the beautiful views of the Casco Bay and the nearby pleasure-craft marina, make this a supremely enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this spot!

A great little lunch spot on a sunny day if you’re in the area. It’s basically just a little seafood shack by a marina, but the food is fresh, cheap and delicious. We had the crab roll, seafood chowder(packed with seafood and not potatoes!!), fried haddock basket(perfectly cooked in a light batter), and homemade chips and bean dip. Everything was good and what could be better than sitting on a picnic bench in the sun watching the ocean? Only thing missing was a cooler of beer. Bring your own drinks! Or buy yours to-go from the dolphin restaurant next door, as the only drinks at Erica’s are from a vending machine.

It’s too easy to resort to hyperbole when describing things, like food and dining experiences. Sometimes it seems like Unilocal is either, that was the best… worst ________I’ve ever had. Maybe it’s an American thing, I don’t know. However, it’s nice to read someone who knows what they’re talking about, write glowingly about a place, and then, based on that review, also have a similar experience. Validation matters. This happened yesterday. Based on Sally Lerman’s favorable review(she being the author of the wonderful«Lobster Rolls of New England: Seeking Sweet Summer Delight») of Erica’s Seafood in Harpswell, my wife and I hurried down Route 123(past Bowdoin College) on the South Harpswell side. I say«hurried» because it was late afternoon and the ominous clouds were a portent of the late afternoon prediction of thunderstorms and rain. Erica’s has been on my list of lobster roll establishments to try. Since it was mid-afternoon, I hadn’t eaten since breakfast after running 3+ miles and my wife had had a crazy pre-holiday sales day, she was agreeable to my spur of the moment suggestion of Erica’s. Erica’s lobster rolls are terrific. Even better, they are 2 for $ 20, which generally means an inferior roll, mixed with other ingredients other than fresh, succulent lobster meat. That’s not the case with Erica’s. The rolls, built on a perfectly buttered and grilled Country Kitchen hot dog roll, are stuffed with lobster meat that was swimming in the nearby Atlantic that morning. The stand(not a shack – read Lerman’s book for her explanation) is near the end of Basin Point Road, just prior to the Dolphin Marina and Restaurant, and borders a newer lobster wharf. Erica(actually, Angela, as Erica is her 12-year-old daughter) and her husband, Tom Hunter, own the adjoining wharf, which also sells fresh lobsters out of the tank in the neighboring garage. Just as our meals were announced, the skies opened and while huddled together under the picnic table umbrellas, Miss Mary and I were doomed to get soaked. Angela directed us to the garage and the large picnic table to stay dry. She provided covers for our trays and we headed next door. The lobster rolls were terrific. Even better, were the chowders. Both the clam and seafood chowders had rich, flavorful broths, not overly thick, but perfect for the abundant clams and other seafood, onions and potatoes inherent in these treats. These might be the best(ah, yes – hyperbole) chowders we’ve had. We also split a fried oyster basket. The oysters were perfectly fried, sans the usual greasiness of many deep-fried items cooked in a fryolator. The fries are hand-cut and also a nice accompaniment. I enjoyed talking with a local fisherman about life out on the water. It reminded me again how fortunate we are to have fishermen who go out on the water and bring in the seafood we love to eat. Before leaving, we had Tom put four lobsters together for us and we took these home to have later. We cooked them up and good lord, these were terrific! What’s in the water off South Harpswell that make the lobsters taste so heavenly? Erica’s is a mere 14 mile/25-minute drive from Brunswick. The food is terrific and on a sunny day, the view off Basin Point will only enhance your experience. Note: Erica’s doesn’t take credit cards, so bring cash.

talk about sea-to-table. sweet Maine shrimp and haddock, lobster(packed) roll, seafood thick chowder and fixins. from the coastal waters and boats docked here, sold fresh or cooked at a little shack, cheap as chips @$ 40 for all that in pic. good as, too.
