Came here with a friend for a tour of the Amish settlements around this area. $ 25/person for a van tour. The tour guide was very friendly and casual… and informative. in the sense that he learned this from being really close with the people. I learned a LOT and got to experience a lot. Saw lots of furniture businesses, a house, some quilt stores, and a bakery… ANd a school house Beautiful and scenic, but it’s against the Amish religion to be in pictures so I had to settle for taking pictures of the scenery and abandoned buildings… but that was okay! The Amish were pretty friendly, the kids were cute, it was really mind-boggling to see this! The tour itself was over 3 hours and. despite the overall friendliness and interesting-ness factor,. it got tedious. Plus, I was tired. The gift shops where we parked are SUPER cute too but they close before 5pm so get there early. The people are NICE. and you never know what to expect. I’d rather just drive on in here on my own. but then, i guess the tourguide was also serving sort of as a «liaison». since he knew the people and the ins and outs. and even little bits of hearsay, stories, and gossip. Fun :)
