The staff is very loud, having their own conversations-to the point where I was wondering where management was. So unprofessional. I am all about having fun at work but laughing, clapping, talking to the point where you’re practically yelling-that’s too much. You have to think about your customers trying to have a nice dinner. This was our second visit, and this also happened during our first visit. Then our drink order was taken. And then, our waiter forgot about us. We waited 15 minutes(we were the only table besides one at the hibachi table). Then my husband got up to find our waiter to give him our order and see where our drinks were, and as soon as the waiter saw him, he apologized and blamed it on his manager for holding him up. Again, more LOUD conversations about weekend plans and things I don’t want to know about while I’m paying $ 15 for chicken teriyaki and more for sushi. The sushi came quickly. That was good. My food came shortly after. My hubby really liked his sushi and my teriyaki chicken was pretty good as well. If they just worked on their service and atmosphere this place could be better.

Dear God!!! Yes we’re in DAH valley still! If it wasn’t for the half off sushi… we’d be at Lucky Sushi. Food is awesome BUTT service… leaves much to be desired. Our waitress has the personality of a hemorrhoid… asked for limes 3 x’s, wasn’t all there… mind seemed occupied, we had no silverware or chopsticks we had to ask for them, glasses were constantly empty and kept asking for water; please keep in mind I was a former waiter, from Chili’s to The Four Seasons Hotel… allow me to continue… gave out bill and it wasn’t correct, shocker. Perhaps she found out her bf is cheating, tired like the rest of us working, didn’t want to work due to holidays!!! Anyways, once more, food great. .service blowzz!

This place is wonderful! My husband and I went for a date night and really enjoyed ourselves. We just moved here from Miami and the sushi we ate here tops any sushi we’ve had in Miami. The calamari was crispy and tender, the sushi was fresh and delicious, the drinks were perfect, and our server was awesome! All around this place is wonderful. We will be back for more sushi and to try out the hibachi grill!

My parents brought me here growing up and honestly it’s the best place to get sushi in the Valley. Amazing service. Amazing food. Perfect vibe. I have brought many friends and family here and they love it too. My favorite spot for special occasions — birthdays, anniversaries, grandparents in town. I will keep coming here for years to come! Try the crunchy roll! It’s always been my favorite.

You can count on one hand the number of restaurants in Harlingen that serve sushi. Among them, Hime is the only place in town that focuses solely on Japanese cuisine. Hime’s menu is fun and varied – from octopus salad and edamame appetizers to noodle and rice dishes to sushi – so there is definitely something for everyone. Where Hime truly shines is what most people come here for – sushi and teppanyaki. The sushi menu is seemingly endless with dozens of rolls to choose from. My favorites are the Hot Mamma Roll and the Volcano Tempura Roll. Also, Hime has half-priced sushi every Sunday from 4 to 10PM!

The food was wonderful. The service was okay. The water could have been more attentive even though it was a bit busy Friday night. The atmosphere was very very pleasant. Recommend coming at a less busy time.

There’s not a lot of sushi places down in the Valley… and this is probably the only Sushi place in Harlingen. The Good: –service was nice and friendly –Décor: separate bar from restaurant, but nice atmosphere inside. The Not-so-bad: –Sushi: its OK… not super fresh, but not fishy and old tasting. The Ugly: –Miso soup: bland and tasteless More of a 2.5÷5 place, but it’s clean and people are nice. Don’t expect great sushi though… Keep in mind you’re in the RGV.

I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying sushi in many cities across the U.S. and never have I been nickel and dimed as much as during this visit to Hime Sushi. The Spicy Octopus Salad was good, but one typically expects an appetizer to serve more than one person. The serving size was tiny! The three rolls we ordered were good, but, after a $ 47 tab, my husband and I Ieft hungry. Why? Because they charge for miso soup(I have never before paid for miso soup) and the least expensive rice bowl is $ 10 for fried rice. Why don’t they offer a $ 2.75 yakameshi? Ultimately, I was dissatisfied and will continue to leave Harlingen for sushi.

Had sushi. Pricy for the quality of the preparation rice in the sushi was not made right. Place was empty and there were times that I was alone in the Resturant.

Sushi was not bad, but not great either. Service left a lot to be desired. Waitress was distracted and overwhelmed. There was only one server in the restaurant at 4pm on a Friday. Both water and hot tea had heavy taste of chlorine. I had intended in getting a light desert but the waitress was quick to try to kick me out and give me a check though I didn’t appear to be in a hurry, I was trying to enjoy my tea. I seriously doubt I will ever return to this restaurant.

Excellent sushi, I had the Bento box with 4 nigiri and 1 orgasmo roll. The roll was awesome, the nigiri were ok, salad was great. Service was good, atmosphere nice. Will hopefully get to go there again.

Of course i would compare this place to the ones i’ve been to so far. It’s nooo way worth it’s price. I’m sorry but i won’t be coming back here. The only thing that was good was service. Food wise nope. And i don’t pay for service loool. No grudge or hate just too expensive for non delicious food.

Very mediocre as I would say. This place lacks many key things that make up a fine hibachi restaurant yet gives the same price as any to hold 5 stars. Yes, the prices are over the top, and the food can be very vague! For starters the soup was not to well done, I could taste hints of chlorine mixed with dry tap water. The veggies were too saucy, and the meat to salty. Yet the rice truly made up for it. Although it remains a pretty alright establishment I would not come back for it’s overpriced food.(Plus the dude making the food dropped an egg on my brother)

If I could give this place no stars I would. Awkward customer service. Flavorless sushi rolls and tea that taste like tap water.

Made the bad decision of coming here based on other reviews. Should have known better than to get sushi in Harlingen. The water they use to cook with is not filtered so the drinks and miso soup tasted like chlorine. I got some yaki soba noodles with chicken. The noodles reminded me of over cooked top ramen. just mush in ya mouth. Chicken all full of gristle. I don’t mind a little in cheap Mexican food, but I’d expect more from a Sushi restaurant. Eating cartilage isn’t my thing. I had to drown the dish in Sriracha just to taste something. or maybe I wanted to burn my mouth to not taste the food. Service was ok. Bar was sticky. The soy sauce was refilled, but obviously not cleaned. I don’t mean to sound like a nancy, don’t get me wrong I know how to get dirty, but if a «sushi» restaurant can’t clean well then how are they treating the raw fish? That is ALL obviously frozen and ALL so overpriced. I should have seen the big red flag in front of my face when I walked in desperately yelling«there’s not one Asian worker here!»

I recently relocated to Harlingen, TX and had been a resident of San Antonio, TX for 15yrs. I have been driving to the big city of the Rio Grande Valley which is McAllen, TX to get all my San Antonio fixes including sushi. The locals in Harlingen recommended Hime and picked up dinner today from Hime and it was excellent and delicious!!! I am hooked! I ordered Brownsville roll, L.A. Roll, crabmeat puffs and edamame, all of the food was great! Friendly staff, great prices and most importantly delicious! Needless to say, looks like I will be a frequent customer.

PROs: The atmosphere and decorations are very nice and inviting, and in comedic contrast with the ever playing Beach Boys music(and others songs of this genre). The staff is friendly and attentive, including the owner who makes visits to the tables to see that everyone is pleased. The size and number of the rolls range from medium to large, and are fairly priced. We left the restaurant quite full, and feeling like we got a good deal. The sushi menu is 2 pages long and features a wide variety of fish selections and other unique ingredients. The presentation of the rolls is decorative and unique, making the food visually stimulating as well as flavorful. CONs: The taste of the rolls are hit and miss, some are great and others need lots of soy sauce. There was only one sushi chef(even on the weekend), he was working very hard, but some of the rolls seemed hastily made. Another gripe about the sushi rolls and ingredients is that most of it was tempura or even deep fried. Some of it was friend too much making it taste burnt or overly tough. Also, though they had a wide variety of ingredients, they were only incorporated into about ¼ of the rolls. They also had a limited selection of Sake, and the cold sake was over priced(cheapest $ 12, up to $ 25). Lastly, our server was not very knowlegable about menu items, though this does not represent the whole staff. Recommendations: We would go back again, especially since this is one of the only places for sushi in Harlingen. The sushi is pretty good, but none of it was mind blowing. If you are not being health conscious, we would recommend the Super Crunchy Roll, Hot Mamma Roll, Samuri Fiesta Roll and Box Sushi. The hibachi part of this restaurant was good as well, but we were focused on the sushi for this review.
