Great store in Metarie! MUCH larger than the New Orleans store. Loads of decorations. My only complaint was the lighting. The ceiling are so high the place is dark.

I’m not normally a crafty person but this is my go to spot for crafting supplies! The employees here are super nice and are helpful whenever I have questions! So the latest crafting I’ve been doing is making a scrapbook bc a gf of mine gave me a bunch of pictures from my birthday party. Ikr, actual physical pictures that she had printed out! So here I am looking for a photo album so I can organize them. Well, I was pointed in the direction of the scrapbooks and got hooked. I used to scrapbook for a hot second back in the day but got rid of all my stuff. Later on I found the photo albums against the side wall but I was already won over by the scrapbook, refill pages, cute lil scrap booking sayings that were on sale, photo corners etc. you get the gist! What I like is everything is organized right in the area so you can get all your scrapbooking needs in one spot(on the right hand side as soon as you enter after the jewelry section! Plus you can sign up for the coupons or get on their free wifi in the store and show them a coupon! What a win-win situation!

I hate to have to write this but this store is horrible with customer service. I shop at Michaels twice a month at the least. Every week at the most. I buy a lot of Swarovski Crystals for the work I do. Well the stones are usually under lock and key so you have to request the help of an employee. I pressed the button to request help and the employee comes over and I am picking my stones and placing them in the hand held basket. Once I am done picking them she says I have to bring them to the register. I then went on to advise her that I spoke with someone at the corporate office(because of another incident) and was advised that policy is no longer valid. Well she gets really upset and gets her manager and they both come over and start to antagonize me and pulled my handheld basket out of my hands. I called corporate and have yet to get a response. If I did not need these stones and paint. I would not go in this store at all. I think I am going to search for suppliers online and sever ties with Michaels once and for all. These stores are becoming horrible with customer service. And calling corporate is not resolving the issue. SHOPATYOUROWNRISK!!!

Called twice and after being on the phone for more than ten minutes waiting for someone to pick up the call I ended hanging the phone. Nice customer service

My introduction to this Michael’s involved listening to an employee complain over the phone about the crap shifts she was getting while I stood trying to get her assistance. Luckily, in the intervening years the staff seems to have gotten more helpful. If you’re looking for basic craft supplies or a range of different items(say, fabric paint as well as yarn as well as a picture frame), Michael’s is fine. I’ve noticed that they don’t stock very well(e.g., only having 10 of the 50 different colors of a particular item, as evidenced by the empty display slots), and you’ll need to go elsewhere if you’re looking for, say, non-acrylic yarn. But for what it is, it isn’t bad, and it doesn’t give you the bad karma that shopping at Hobby Lobby would.

Michael’s is your typical big box craft store. Make sure if you need to buy a bunch of stuff over a couple of days or weeks that you use a coupon. You can usually get a 40% off or 50% off coupon though its mobile app. I like the scrapbooking section at this store.

First of all, make sure you sign up for their coupons online. They send them weekly and they are usually pretty good. You can pull them up on your phone in the store or if you deleted the email just ask the check out lady if they have any current coupons. Michael’s serves a certain crafting/designing scenarios but not others. They are good for kids crafts or projects where you don’t need premium materials or very specialized products. For instance, I needed an ear cuff finding to make rhinestone ear cuffs, they have lots of the usual jewelry findings but no ear cuff. I needed German glitter glass, no dice. I needed 100% wool felt they only had polyester. I wanted some high end artist’s spray paint– I had to settle for mid-range brand. I buy things here if I’m not super specific about materials. If you are, just save your gas and buy things off of a specialty craft supply or art supply site or ebay(you can get things Buy It Now crazy cheap and often the shipping only takes a day or two). Never buy Swarovski crystals at Michael’s, their prices are insanely high compared to online where the selection is also better. They do carry one premium crafting line, which is Martha Stewart’s brand. But it definitely leans more towards crafters than designers. Her products are great. Check out all the colors her embossing powders come in!!!

I needed a large number of easels for a project– it was last minute and I called and spoke to Courtney. She was so incredibly helpful with followup, and helping me find more of the item I needed at future stores. Great employee, great store, lots of stuff. Go out of your way to visit this location.

Michael’s is my jam for arts and crafts supplies here in New Orleans(though it’s in Elmwood). I’m a crafty mofo, and I find myself needing the most random of supplies, knick knacks and gift idea starters. Need tulle favor bags? cute tiny bottles? crap for kid parties? kid crafts? elusive paint pens in different colors, different sets? tons of paints! everything you ever wanted for scrapbooking(you could disappear into a scrapbooking cave and live out your years.) I also recently utilized their framing service, and the lady at the counter was extremely helpful! You can see a mockup of what you want to do, they’ll point out the on sale frames and your print or poster will come out with a really professional look. That being said, it ain’t cheap but, again, very professional, and they usually have sales. Last but not least, always pull up the site for coupons before you check out. There is almost always a 40% off a single item coupon on their site and I always use it. No doubt if you go there, we’ll bump into each other and share Pinterest DIY stories. See you soon!

Not going to lie. My wife is likes to drag me here whenever she gets that itch to craft something for the house. But the more I go, the more that itch starts to spread.(Without sounding too gross? Haha.) They have everything one could need for art and crafting. It’s fun to just browse the aisles, pick up something, and go, «Hmm…I could do something with this!» The prices are fair and they always have specials going on. Not to mention if you have the time, they have the classes to teach you different crafting trades. Always something cool here!

Michaels is my dirty little secret. I’m a penny-pincher, but I love being cute. Michaels is the best solution. I haven’t even seen most of the store. I just walk in the door, turn right, and head straight for the jewelry. Yes. They have jewelry. Yes. It’s cheap. No, you don’t have to be «crafty.» And, no, it’s not«old lady.» I frequently get compliments on my necklaces and almost all of them are from Michaels. So here’s the trick: Buy a few different length chain necklaces with the smallest clasps you can find(so it can fit through any charm). Buy charms. Mix and match. Their necklace charms are always right on trend(and only $ 2-$ 8). When owls were in, they had large owl charms. When clocks were in, they had steampunky sprockets. Pythons, you bet. They have charms in every size so you can go for a big accent piece, or a more subtle style. I can’t get enough! Maybe it isn’t the best idea to tell Unilocal all my dirty little secrets… Some tricks a girl should keep to herself.

I’ve used the frame shop several times now and I am very pleased with their services. I usually will buy some other crafty notions while I’m there; costume supplies, pre-made frames, holiday décor, etc. I always wait until they are doing the BIG sales at the custom frame shop,(chech thier web site or the Sunday paper’s ad) if you wait a week or two they always have 40%, 50%, 55% and sometimes 60% OFF custom framing orders. Great deals and beautiful framing.

I’ve gone to quite a few michaels, and this is a decent sized store, in a decent location. they have a decent selection of items, and are really nice and friendly. If i ever need art things, and is stuck as to where to start on a project, i’ll most likely come ere to get some ideas, get some things then move on to a store has more of the special items that I am looking for. Not a blow my mind kind of place, but definitely, a good card to have in my pocket.
