Took my daughter to Dick’s today as she needed softball cleats and had a gift card. She also picked out some exercise leggings. Once again, in spite of having a handful of coupons, we couldn’t use any of them. This is the second time I have been to Dick’s in the last 6 months. Both times I couldn’t use a coupon for a technicality. Today the cleats didn’t count as apparel for one coupon. I guess you are supposed to know that shoes are not apparel. It doesn’t say it on the coupon. I had another coupon for softball cleats but they don’t carry one pair that cost enough to be able to use that coupon either. We used up the gift cards that we had today. I won’t go back to Dick’s unless I absolutely have to.

Christmas before last, Rodger Sterling from Mad Men threw a football to an adorable kid inside this Dick’s location, and almost hit me with it. Last Christmas, my fella bought me a rather fantastic pair of UnderArmour running shorts here while we waited for his brother to wrap his shopping up for the season. Yay!

Mark in the golf department really went above and beyond in terms of customer service. My wife bought a driver and fairway wood at this store three months back but accidentally lost the head cover during a recent golf outing. Unfortunately, it was a customized white head cover only available at Dick’s. After receiving our frantic call, Mark and his supervisor helped us right way to get replacements. They even shipped it free of charge out-of-state to us! I’ve not seen this level of customer service at a retail chain in quite a while, so I wanted to write this review to commend this store for being so customer-centric. You’ve won yourself a customer for life — please keep up the good work!

Went in recently to buy my son sport goggles and walked out having bought 2 kayaks for hubby for Father’s Day. They were having a sale and the young woman I spoke to seemed so knowledgable that I felt really comfortable pulling the trigger on a decision I’ve been waffling around for over a year now. Then when I came back to pick them up the two guys who helped install kayak racks and load them on my car were awesome — knew how to use the racks and the right knots to tie, etc, to make sure everything was secure. They did everything they could legally do to load them(which was a lot, as it turned out — I had very little hands-on to do myself and nothing that required strength or skill). I was very impressed as I usually shop at REI so I can get good customer service but this was really excellent(and Dick’s sells racks other than Yakima or Thule if you want to save money — the one they installed on my Yakima bars looked to be very good quality and was much less expensive than a brand name would have been). I will be checking out Dick’s for my next sporty purchase for sure!
