Very unprofessional, lazy, slow, not knowledgeable about the wines being served, bad breath, just to name a few of the things wrong with this place. Sure, the idea is great, but very poorly executed. Get some people in here who care about wine and can make suggestions, share knowledge, and give this place some atmosphere. Today there was 1 lady serving 5 couples, taking about 10 minutes per couple to pour two glasses each, and that’s it, not even speaking about the wine, just shuffling through the bottles to find the right one, and not knowing how to use the opener. She tended to ignore younger patrons, some even ended up leaving before even having their first tasting. By the time we got our first taste, over 10 people had come and gone due to frustration and being skipped over for an older patron. It’s really a shame because I ended up tasting some great wines, but this was after so many people had to leave without a taste.

Whether you’ve just emerged from the caves, or you’re in Hannibal on other business, you should stop by this winery. They have a wide variety of wines to sample, most with Twain-themed names and labels. Not only do they have cheese to go with your wine, but it’s cheese aged in the caves. The sommelier Nick will tell you whatever you want to know about the wines, or about the area, and with none of the snobbery that occasionally accompanies wine tastings. Seating inside and out, plus gifts and trinkets for sale, round out this solid experience.

I really enjoyed this little shop across the street from the Mark Twain cave. Good selection of local wine and cheese, and nice gift selections to take home as souvenirs. Has a lovely setting with indoor & outdoor seating to enjoy some wine and cheese on the spot. I loved me some wine slushy! Take home some Mark Twain Cave cheese, aged right in the actual caves immortalised by his famous books.
