E&J & Son Construction really is the gift that keeps on giving. It’s been a few years since I made the mistake of hiring these nincompoops to replace half my roof, and their incompetence is continuing to give me headaches. In my earlier review I described the awful work performed by this contractor, which is owned by a person named John Chudik. The latter is a really outstanding salesman(he has totally missed his calling) and he talked me into getting half the roof done. I would«never have to worry about it again.» So I signed a contract for top dollar and he installed a roof that leaked, screwed up the gutters, and became totally obnoxious when I called to point out that he had done slipshod work. . But the story didn’t end there, no sirree. On the afternoon of Aug. 31, 2015 — a completely calm day; no wind, no rain – a section of shingles his crew installed slid off the roof and fell on the lawn. This was a completely different part of the roof than where I had the leaky-roof and gutter problems a while back. The guy who repaired this mess told me that the shingles had not been nailed in properly by Chudik. You could see that some nails were missing. It was only a matter of time before the shingles fell off. Fortunately I was there when it happened. It’s possible that all the shingles Chudik installed are missing nails, and will eventually come sliding off. I have no way of knowing. But make no mistake: I’ll find out eventually, when I see more shingles lying on the ground. All because he wanted to save a few bucks on nails.
