We only ever go here for the sushi. It is amazing. We always try to try something new every time we go. It’s filling and fresh. We live out of town so we always make it a habit to go when we are in town.

Colette was our server. Something happened between the establishment and the other lady who handles the cash register? Colette pointed at the two lunch menus and we ordered he beef donburi from the lunch menu, which is $ 10 but our receipt came out $ 17! The udon noodle soup is $ 4 in all the menus, but they rang it up for $ 6! Is there a reason why they would mess this up? If you are the owner of this restaurant, please notice this. The sushi rice is also a bit hard and could use a little more water cooking time to and make it fluffy by stirring up the rice. Just wanted to let you know, we don’t mind tipping 20%, but he shady behavior is uncalled for. We took your paper menu home because we intended to reorder and take out but not sure if we can anymore. Completely disappointed for being the only sushi place in Hanford.

My favorite roll here is the blossom the best way to describe it is smooth the fish always taste fresh. The white dragon is good a little expensive but the rolls are large.

Got to the restaurant at 6 on a Friday, were told it was a 45 min wait, wound up getting seated at 7 after my husband went in to talk to them. Place was clean and nice looking. We had tempura vegi’s and calamari, it was not seasoned at all. Sushi rolls were ok but seaweed wrap was tough and chewy, I actually could not chew it. The worst thing was the service it took asking twice to get our sauces. My daughter had to send her roll back because it wasn’t right and didn’t get it back till 15 min later. We were only asked once to refill our drinks, they didn’t give us a fork for the child, and we had to catch someone to get a box and our check. They were busy when we got there so I can somewhat understand the wait but as the night went and the crowd dwindled so did the service.

Last week I went to Toshiko for some sushi. Got a tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll. They were both solid. No complaints. In fact, I was glad to see no iceberg lettuce in there like the last time I went a couple years ago. I don’t care what anybody says about this place, the gyoza pot stickers are the best you will get in all of Fresno county. Every other sushi place here of Fresno deep fat fries them, ruining the name and texture of POTSTICKERS. But for real, those little pillows in your mouth will change your life real talk.

We went on a Saturday night. Yes a busier night than usual, but seemingly plenty of open tables. However we were told we would have to wait 10 – 15 minutes. No big deal. But after waiting 25 minutes we asked why we were still not being seated as we saw empty tables. We were told those tables were reserved for tables of 6 or more. Not reserved for a party expected to come, but in the event one does. What!!! We’re here! We’re customers! We want to give you business. But because we’re a party of four, you won’t seat us? Are you freaking kidding me?! So after waiting ANOTHER10 minutes(close to 40 minutes now, after being told 15), we finally suggest to the hostess that since we are a party of four and there’s a party of 2 also waiting, why not just seat us together. There are huge pillars in between the table which gave us more than enough privacy. Why should we the customers have to come up with this solution? It’s common sense. I’ve given this place so many chances. Probably won’t be returning. Oh, and we found a hair in our Spicy Tuna Roll. Gross.

The food at this restaurant is lacking in quality. I have eaten at dozens of Japanese restaurants over the decades and this restaurant is one of the worst that I have experienced. The meat has been improperly cooked and of low quality. I very much want to like this establishment but every meal has been a big disappointment.

The place looked nice and clean on the inside and the menu offered you the normal items you would fine at a japanese restaurant, however, the food served was not. My order consisted of a vegetable and shrimp tempura appetizer, served with a california roll as the main course. The tempura was under cooked and gummy«not crispy» and the shrimp was not clean… it still had the intestinal tract intact. Yuk! As for the california roll… the white rice was so salty and dry it was difficult to even swallow it. The lack of care and preperation, says this is not a place to eat at again, unless I want to visit urgent care.

Polite staff. Prices are a little higher than most sushi restaurants for the quality. We cone here often for a great sit down with friends. The food is good.

I’m giving 3 stars for the food, and the service. I ordered two sushi rolls and nigiri on a typical night with only 4 – 5 customers inside. Food took more than 30 minutes and service was slow and horrible. Overall, I love the food!

Probably the best I’ve had so far in this area. Sizes are nice, fairly big and not tiny. Price is average. Inside is clean and in good shape.

Ugh! My son and I both got sick immediately after returning home! I’m pretty sure it was the sashimi. Definitely pre-packaged and not fresh!

Even though the service was a bit slow, the food was amazing. I had the grilled teriyaki chicken with veges and loved it. Our server’s name was Austin, and he was the BEST! He made our experience that much better. And for dessert, we ordered the fried ginger ice cream… YUMMY!!! We’ll be back for sure!

I always find Unilocal reviews funny that start with«I’m from x and I know good whatever and this isn’t even close to what I get back in x so I’m going to enlighten all of you troglodytes on why you have no idea about what good whatever is» thanks for blessing us with your enlightenment out of town guy. Toshikos always has solid sushi and the kids love the Yakinaku grill. I always judge good sushi by the quality of the sashimi and Toshikos is always great. Is it better than your favorite spot in LA or Tokyo? Who the hell knows, but it’s pretty good if you don’t want to get on an airplane or drive 4 hours for a meal.

Coming from Fresno area this place doesn’t even compare to most sushi places I’ve eaten at. The prices are to expensive for the size and the quality you get. And don’t get me started on the service! The skinny girl that works there needs a lot more training or a change in careers. She was not very pleasant, forgot my rice, and tried to charge me for it. Her and the other girl had so much attitude it gave me a stomach ache! Please save your money and take a trip to Fresno, even the worst sushi places there are better than Toshiko. Oh and I forgot… The reason I didn’t give this place 1 star is the miso was actually decent:)

I have always enjoyed coming here, I always order the Spicy Salmon Tempura Roll and ask for it to be cut in half. They always do(although, sometimes the server will give me a look, other times they just do it without a word). I’m giving a 4 star review, but the reality is that things seem to be going downhill here(we were told it would be 10 minutes for a table to be ready, but half the place was empty). I suspect that if things do not change, the stars will be tapering off from future reviewers. I am basing my review on ALL visits here and not just this latest one(otherwise we’d be in the 2 to 3 star range). We met with friends to have dinner and the food was fine as always, but there seemed to be a lot of mistakes happening in the kitchen. We had missing parts from 2 of the dishes ordered that came out later in the meal(The chicken from my friend’s yudon and the rice, miso soup and 2 pieces of fish from my husband’s meal). Also, we had a miscommunication with our server that resulted in my daughter’s roll coming out much later. The missing parts from the meals made the dinner disjointed and awkward(my friend was missing the protein from her dish and she was trying to eat what they had brought her, but my thinking was that the protein needed to be eaten with her noddles, so it was weird and I felt bad for her). My husband was missing 2 pieces of fish from his Chef’s platter but the server seemed indifferent to the news when my husband mentioned it to him. That mistake was not corrected. The place is clean and the servers are always nice enough, the food is hot, but I have to say, reading Kyle A.‘s review gives me some pause. I’m going to leave the review at that, it’s a shame… I like the food, but I’m worried about the decline of service and the glaring confusion happening in the kitchen.

Cucumber salad is kind of bland but the Miso soup is delicious. I ordered the Spicy Salmon Tempura roll and it was absolutely mouthwatering..

This is probably one of the most authentic places for Japanese food that I’ve found in the central valley. It’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. The service is good usually, but sometimes you end up with high school or college age kids and they just want their checks. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

This is my first review, and first restaurant I’ve eaten at since moving here a few weeks ago. I must say, the staff sure seemed very eager to do their jobs. Since I was eating by myself, they sat me between the kitchen and sushi bar. I really didn’t mind the staff running back and forth delivering food, but it can get loud at times. It wasn’t overly busy, and the crowd seemed young and vibrant. I placed my order while enjoying a small sake. It took about 12 minutes from order to serving. Quite nicely done I might add. However, the rice did seem a bit old. But that could have been the sake fooling my taste buds. The price was ok, a bit high though for the location.
