Very Strange Experience at this food truck on New Year’s Eve at Poipu. When I opened my mouth to order, the woman yelled at me «No Salad, No Beans, No Cheese!» Later saw her smoking a cigarette behind the truck, saying«No Salad, No Beans, No Cheese!» over and over to herself. Alarming and sad. Tacos were pretty good though.

I’m from California. I lived in SoCal and currently live in San Francisco. This guy knows what’s up with Mexican food. We got the chile relleno and the shrimp taco after they were sold out of everything. It was amazing.

Wow. Literally just had two fish and two shrimp tacos. Delicious… his lime, jalapeño and cilantro sauce was amazing(and I don’t even like cilantro!!). Raphael is very friendly as well and full of usual knowledge as he has lived in the island since 1990. He also threw some guac on for free… stop here and enjoy great tacos at the beach.

Had the pork tacos while visiting Salt Pond Beach. Lots of great flavor with a hint of spiciness! Rafael is delightful and a great taco master! Recommend visiting!

Best tacos we have EVER had!!! Coming from a diverse group of 9 including a native Mexican, and lots of world travel between us. I would come back to Kauai just for these tacos. Raphael was very friendly and the food was out of this world, great quality and great flavors! Add fresh guac– it was so good!!!

Stopped after a swim at salt pond. Tasty authentic al pastor burrito for $ 10. Decent size — my hubby and I split it and we’re pretty full. The meat was flavorful and tender with pineapple in it. Very tasty. Burrito had meat, cheese and some beans in it. The only thing that would’ve made it better would’ve been some fresh diced onion, cilantro, lettuce and tomato. It needed a little fresh crisp to it. But the slaw on the side sufficed to slather on it for some crunch. Overall, quite tasty and I will be back to try the tacos soon.

Found the food cart on a Saturday at the Lihue Farmers Market at Kauai Community College in Lihue. The fish tacos were average — I liked that they were not greasy and were fresh off the grill, but they could use more acid and seasoning. Needed to add salsa for more flavour.

Food truck at the KCC farmers market — decent pork tacos, –seriously– toxic and non-aloha attitude. Keep your food folks; after my experience I wouldn’t take it for free after a long day. I don’t need that in my life.

Rafaels taco truck was really busy at the Hanapepe Friday night art walk. We figured that was a good sign and got in line. The pork tacos were a good deal at two for $ 7. They were tasty but messy so be prepared. They have red/green salsas and onions to add. The additional sour cream was $ 2 but I saw someone’s plate it looked like they put a huge glob of it on. I was watching them work inside the truck and they were working hard! It was also very clean and a nice food truck! I think it was a good choice among many and worth the wait at the art walk. There aren’t many tables so you may have to eat standing up or walk to find another table.

BESTTACOSONKAUAI!!! Been to Kauai many times and I’m always on the hunt for delicious, authentic Mexican food. Rafael is a terrific chef! His creations really hit the spot. Don’t be derailed from eating here just because it’s a food truck — after all, food trucks ARE the premier cuisine these days. Everything Rafael cooks is made to order. The tortillas are made fresh by hand everyday. The guacamole is fluffy and smooth and stays true to the essence of the avocado. The garlic butter shrimp are properly prepared and sautéed to perfection. The Al pastor is juicy and succulent. If you’re on a culinary excursion you must stop here. The tacos are to die for and the beach is spectacular. Rafael delivers an unforgettably delicious experience. Sad I can’t eat his tacos everyday!

Being from Portland OR home of food trucks I love my taco trucks. And Raphael makes a mean fish taco and if your lucky enough to catch him on a day he made guacamole thank your lucky stars.

So good! We’re from San Diego so I know GOOD taco trucks. Loved his taro & corn tortilla. And Rafael makes this awesome salsa verde that he put on the fish tacos. I found him set up at Salt Pond bc I went there with my son and he gave him a fresh tortilla. My little bitty picky eater loved it

Every Friday night, there is an art walk in Hanapepe(Southwest side of the island) from around 6 – 9 pm, with nice art, live music, and food trucks. Rafael’s Taco is a food truck offering amazing tacos!!! The tortillas are homemade with taro. You can pick from the succulent pork or steak(carne asada) to fill your tacos. It costs about $ 6 for two tacos. A bit pricey for tacos, but totally worth it. You are hearing this from a girl who has lived off of GOOD Mexican food in LA/San Diego for 6 years, and hasn’t had a good taco in YEARS(Oh Honolulu… why is it so hard to get good tacos?) Try it out! The art walk is fun! Love the local vibes & aloha here. Like most food trucks, cash only.
