I found this place after Farmer Jack closed it’s doors in 2007. I’ve been shopping here ever since. This small place has the BEST produce and the MOST variety to choose from, plus it’s always priced low and if they don’t have something they will try to order it for you. They’re friendly and eager to help you. These guys work hard too! The store is practically open 24 hours a day! I don’t know how they do it. They offer organic Amish butter, spices galore, a huge assortment of teas, jams and honey. The place stays packed, but they are swift at clearing the lines and getting you checked out.

Great selection of spices and produce. This place is packed so tight you’ll probably find anything you’re looking for, even though it’s small.

This place has the best selection of Midamar Halal foods in the Detroit Area. Halal beef bacon, hot dogs, deli meats, chicken nuggets, and burgers.

This place has really improved in the last 6 months! A new dairy freezer, a completely new cheese refrigerator, a revamped meat counter, and better layout flow. Although they always seem to be restocking(seriously, the place is packed AND they’re filling the shelves?), the quality and variety of items show the owners’ commitment to keeping the corner on groceries in Hamtown.

Went here looking for turmeric and other spices, and found a whole lot more. Great and inexpensive selection of produce. An amazing meat section, where I saw the butcher grab a whole side of lamb and cut a customer the chops they wanted. A whole sheeps head is only 4 bucks! Also picked up samosas and some polish chocolates. The gentleman at the checkout was cheerful and quite a help. Great experience!

Okay… this market is full of wonder. Like, I WONDER what they are killing in the back-room that is making it reek like that? Or also like. I WONDER if some pig entrails leaked all over the produce that I’m about to buy. The produce looks awesome. They even have a cute little olive bar. I live right by this market but the fact that the closer you get to the meat counter the more it goes from smelling like a litter box, then a barn, then to full on fecal matter is more than a turn-off. What is that horrible smell? It never goes away! How did the first review not mention that??? You cannot overlook it!!!

This place was a God send! A nearby grocery store in Detroit that offers organic food at reasonable prices. There wasn’t a large selection of meat and it was definitely pricey. But the fruits and veggies were fresh and inexpensive. Cage-free eggs and antiobiotic free milk, I was in heaven! It’s open late and it’s a safe area. I stopped at the kabob restaurant next door afterwards and it turned out to be a great night!

Very honestly the freshest produce in Hamtramck and at reasonable prices. That is what brought me back and why I continue to shop there. They also have wonderful fresh Pita Bread and a pretty decent variety of spices, Labna– mmm yummy goodness! I love being able to shop quickly and this is the place for it!

Inexpensive with a large assortment of fresh produce? What is not to like? There is a pickled vegetable bar that I have yet to venture into; it looks great. They have bulk bins of my favorite rices, grains and nuts. Like any«international» food market, it does lack some items.(If you’re looking for pearled barley, they don’t stock it.) This place is very popular, so the parking in their smallish lot can be a heart rate-elevating experience. Adding to the stress is the fact that they also use the front lot for deliveries. Those who have lived in Hamtramck for some time are accustomed to this way of business but, newcomers can be overwhelmed by this brand of craziness. Cautionary note: If you are at all squeamish about seeing any animal heads sans skin, you might want to avoid the meat counter at the far end of the store!

On her last(very rare) day off, my girlfriend decided to go on a «Hamtramck market tour» to figure out where to get the best produce, who had the most decent prices etc. Since we live in and love Hamtramck, we want to support businesses here as much as we can. Plus, it’s so much nicer to be able to walk to the store than to drive several miles away just to buy staples like bread and(soy) milk. This places really surprised her, and when she took me to see it, I agreed — it’s a really nice little store with more stuff than you’d expect including soy milk! The bread was super good and SUPER cheap. They even have Red Bull(okay, so I have an addiction problem). If you like olives, they have a full olive bar filled with beautiful and tasty looking varieties. I didn’t take a lot of time to look at the produce since we weren’t buying any on this trip, but she had commented that she was impressed. It’s well worth checking this place out.

There seems to be a new market popping up in Hamtramck every other day. I had the fortune of needing a few quick things and stopping here. I’m surprised that this place hasn’t been reviewed yet. This place is truly a trip. It contains a full line of Middle Eastern foods, produce, and a meat counter. I came here only for pita. I ended up getting a bag of 10 extra large pitas for… $ 1. That’s right! A buck! I’ve paid more for those half-sized pitas at Kroger. I’m so surprised at the pricing here because of this. They have a great meat counter that you can purchase plain meats and pre-seasoned meats. Obviously you’re not going to find pork here, but beef, chicken, and amazing lamb are here en masse. If you’re looking for anything and everything Middle Eastern, this is THE place for it. It’s like the Polish Market… just not Polish!
