Found this place from a recommendation from Windsor Run Cellars as it was not on the winery map I had from my hotel. Quaint and quiet, tucked by itself off a secondary road but incredible scenery and staff. Their wine tastings are accompanied by a sauce/marinade tasting, which I’d never experience before but was quite impressed with. Loved their Carolina Christmas!

Beautiful property, cozy tasting room, very friendly staff. The wines are very nice, simple«weekday» wines. The addition of snack samples to pair with the wines is also a nice touch — I like their homemade sauces as much as the wines themselves!

Best wine tasting I’ve been to! You get to sample ALL wines, not just 3 – 4. They also make sauces and dips that are included in the tasting. Super friendly and beautiful setting.

We had a good time visiting Laurel Gray. The tasting room is not far off of US421and really is in a beautiful setting. As far as the wines go, it was the typical NC wine offerings. Some French varietals, some French hybrid(especially Chambourcin which all of you should try because it really grows well in NC soil), and a couple of sweet wines often made with blackberries or peaches. The lady behind the counter was a picture of southern charm and certainly made the tasting experience wonderful. We even bought a few bottles just because she was so good. If you are looking to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon this would be a good stop

Good wine, strong local history. Excellent visit, a unique tasting experience. Older winery without a «showcase» tasting room — so what! They know how to make good wine and sell it at fair prices. Interesting sauces too.

I own a wine tour company and we have done over 100 tastings at Laurel Gray. The clients love the variety of wines, the scenic, laid-back surroundings, and the helpful/friendly staff! When we have large parties(over 8) we always call ahead so there aren’t any conflicts with events they may have already booked. Take a few moments to check out their second winery– Fruit Crate Wines up past the lake– very tasty!!!

Great day at the vineyard. Nice people good wine and a beautiful day to enjoy it all. Kim was great, very knowledgeable as the owner. Waited a while until for our turn and they gave a free glass while waiting. Lovely place to visit and enjoy

I liked this winery! I enjoyed that they had more to sample than just wine. Nothing like breaking up all that tasting with some bbq sauce or salad dressing. The woman running the tasting wasn’t the friendliest but her awesome was super friendly and welcoming. If you come here you have to try out the red wine chocolate sauce. That stuff was so tasty we had to buy a bottle of it to go. It makes a great gift. I also enjoyed their sweeter white wines. I would like to go when the weather is nicer and enjoy the property a bit more.

Wines were unexpectedly very, very good. Wines hold true to the French style, masking the overt NC palate. Grounds were beautiful and the staff was extremely friendly and honest. Definitely will go back!

Cute and charming with lovely views. Easy to find. Very drinkable wines and the hostess was friendly and attentive. A little touristy, in my opinion, but it would be nice to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view with a bottle of wine and a picnic.

This is a little quaint vineyard with a covered patio over looking the scenic vineyard landscape. It is off the first exit of 421 off I77. It is the perfect location to start a day of touring the different vineyards as it is right off the highway and so close to a few other vineyards. The tasting room has been expanded recently but it is still small with two separate small bar areas. At times there may be a small wait for tastings, but it does go by fast. This vineyard also sells balsamic vinegar and chocolate syrup, so they incorporate it in the wine tasting and pair it with their wines. The wines for the most part are pretty so so. They are not something I would personally buy but they are pretty decent. The staff is extremely friendly and can point you to wines of your choice.

Beautiful location. Beautiful tasting room. Ok wines. Every tour they do they seem to put in minimal effort, and never seem to pour what you paid for. They are very friendly though! Hoping for better quality in the future. I have only been on «tasting tours» that are sponsored by groups of wineries/the Yadkin Valley region, not actual winery tours.**

Laurel Gray is a must stop whenever we go to Yadkin Valley. I’ve been there too many times too count. The tasting room is a former barn and the roses outside smell fabulous. Kim is usually our tasting guide and she is awesome. The tasting includes dry whites, dry reds, a rose(they had both dry and semi-sweet on our last visit), and 2 sweet wines. The tasting also includes a taste of their homemade balsamic vinaigrette with Amish sourdough bread from the nearby Amish community, a small spoon of their homemade barbecue sauce, and 2 dessert sauces. When describing what you’re tasting, Kim lets you know what the wines and sauces pair well with. They go into more detail than guides at other wineries and if you like food and/or cooking chances are that added touch will make you want to take a bunch of wine, vinaigrette, and the other sauces home to share with your loved ones. My favorite reds are the Windsor and Scarlet Mountain red blends and they have my favorite Viognier in NC — it is youthful and refreshing as they describe and the apricot and peaches can be tasted. Since I already have a couple bottles of the balsamic vinaigrette at home(makes a terrific marinade as well as salad dressing and dip), I only picked up the Amish bread as my non-wine item. Laurel Gray has a lot of wine related gifts too — useful and humorous.

This was another one of my favorite vineyards we stopped by. Their Viognier white wine is extremely tasty and I bought a bottle to take home with me. As mentioned in the other review they offered a couple sauces to pair with their wines as we went along with the tasting which was pretty cool because it gave you a little bit of a idea of how the flavors would match up if you were going to have a bottle with dinner or possibly desert. Another thing I enjoyed about this vineyard is that it is bit of a smaller operation and that just makes it all that more comfortable of a place to visit. The lady serving our wine was very friendly and did a great job of explaining everything. Also, this one is pretty close to the highway so its easy to get to.

Lovely family vineyard. Their wines continue to improve over the 4 yrs we’ve visited. They are our fav in the Swan Creek area of NC. I took a bottle of Scarlet Mountain to a gathering of women and they LOVED it, plus it was a good match for the pizza buffet that evening. We’ve had over 40 bottles from them and not a drop goes to waste! They’ve added a line of sauces that pair well with their wines, from barbeque to caramel or cab-choc. Please visit this NC Sweet Spot(and I don’t refer to all their wines with the sweet adj).
