This place is totally renovated… and the management has challenged the new opening with an extensive menu and hours to include a full breakfast. Tried the ahi tuna… ordered rare and grilled… came blackened and medium. Shrimp and grits comes in a gravy that mimics Heinz 57. The grits were done nicely and the shrimp were cooked perfectly… just ask to tailor the plate by holding the gravy and drizzle some cheese on top. The Buckroe shrimp is a generous appetizer reminiscent of bonefish grill’s bang bang. very tasty. The gumbo is a nice bowl of seafood but the base tastes like a spicy version of that Tasso gravy they used on the shrimp & grits dish. The pilgrim sandwich is good old fashioned comfort food. open faced turkey stuffing cranberry jelly and mashed potatoes… Get the potatoes on the side and make sure they include all the ingredients. The crab dip app is generous and very tasty. Service is friendly but introducing themselves would be a nice touch. The bar is nicely renovated and they close the doors to separate the dining area. I will go back to try the oyster po boy… looked good.

Can’t find one thing wrong with this place — the old Jack’s Bar — it has been renovated in pale greens, wood and chrome colored chairs and blond wood tables. There’s a separate bar with big screen TV. We had lunch -, huge seafood menu with lots of options. The raw oysters were impeccable — ice cold, NO shells — fantastic! I had the wedge salad with perfectly seared blacken tuna bites. My companion had the gumbo. Portions were appropriate, service was great — they probably just need some more inventive desserts. Best kept secret on the peninsula!!!

The crab cakes did not disappoint. Full of large lump crab with very little filler. The homemade remoulade was quite good. Onion rings were perfect, nice and crispy, thick slices of onion and not greasy at all. Skip the lackluster tomato, cucumber and red onion salad. Is was just a small bowl of roughly chopped veg drowned in sub par Italian dressing. I’m going back tomorrow for the seafood platter that can only be found on the chalkboard inside the main entrance: flounder, shrimp and scallops.

We just had dinner there and it was great, I was hungry so we orderd blackened scallops, blackened tuna bites and buckroe shrimp for appetizers. They were all great, I ordered the shrimp po boy and my wife got the tuna, mine was great but my wife’s tuna came out kinda plain, we told the waitress and they cooked another steak that was much better We will definitely be going back

I just cant say enough good things about Crabtown, a family atmosphere with the best seafood in town. Their signature crabcakes are amazing and the seafood gumbo gives the place a little New Orleans flavor. You cant go wrong dining at Crabtown!

I’ve eaten at Crabtown Raw Bar & Grill twice thus far and both time the food was excellent. This time I ordered the shrimp po’ boy with fries and coleslaw. The po’boy came out piping hot with crispy large shrimp deep fried on a po’boy gambino style roll. The remoulade that it is served with is creamy and spicy with great flavor. I enjoyed this sandwich. The cole slaw is medium chop cabbage and is mayo based. It is flavorful and tangy. The house fries are well seasoned and really complement the shrimp po’boy. This is the best po’boy I’ve had in the local 25 mile radius and definitely worth the trip to the restaurant.

Food is nice and the bar area in the back is nice. The fact they destroyed a landmark sign — shameful.

Really wasn’t impressed. The fried oysters I had were over cooked and a little too salty and were only the size of popcorn shrimp! The fries had this dreadful coating on them, didn’t even eat them. Ginger ale tasted really watered down. The coleslaw was good though and the service was ok.

The atmosphere was fine. Restaurant was clean. Ordered two crab town boils a fish and chips, and a seafood burrito. Also ordered 6 oysters and crab dip as appetizers. Twenty minutes later oysters came. 15 after that crab dip, fish and chips and one boil showed At the same time. We cancelled the dip thinking the rest of the food would be there shortly, which it wasn’t. Seafood burrito came five mintes later and the other boil about five after that. Crab town boil water s simply steamed, no spices or any flavor what so ever. One was missing the potatoes, and neither of us got the coleslaw. The fish and chips was fine as was the seafood burrito but nothing special

Location has that small town nostalgic 60’s look to it. The place is split between bar and grill and restaurant. We sat in the restaurant side which was accidental that we found the door and it wasn’t impressive as the pictures you find on the web. There was black mold accumulating at the dining area return vent and the décor is kind of old fashioned trying to pass as contemporary modern. Service was average and food was just plain and overpriced for what you get. Presentation of food was poor.

I always enjoy my meal or snack at Crabtown. Friendly staff and crowds. The specials are great as well as the regular menu. The breakfast is awesome. I’ll remain a serial visitor.

Good was pretty good service was pretty bad. We walked into restaurant at 8:30 closes at 10 at no one was around to seat us. We saw there was further part of restaurant and it was the bar. We stood there for over 3 minutes while 1 bartender was eating food at beer cooler. We stood there for over 3 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and then we assumed restaurant was closed but they conformed they were. Based on our first 5 minutes there we were concerned that the food wasn’t going to be and that it would take awhile. We ate at bar and food came surprisingly fast and food was good. I wouldn’t come back due to service though

This place was excellent! Ordered a Crabtown Mary(Bloody Mary) which was a meal as well in a glass! Fish & chips, cheeseburger, pasta w/Cajun shrimp and andouille sausage, crab cake sliders, clam chowder, and crab coup. Dessert was key lime pie, chocolate cake and pumpkin cheesecake. Great wait staff, atmosphere and terrific food! Bar is completely separate, so if you have children you are distanced from bar. Bar did look nice for adults tho!

This place looks like it caters to a ton of local regulars. I’m pretty sure some of them are like family, coming in a few times a week. I didn’t get much here. I rethought may order after perusing the menu. I ended up with nothing but a bagel and cream cheese. What perplexed me is that with only 4 diners, who were already eating, I still waited 10+ minutes for my bagel. I could not wrap my head around that at all. The three individuals that entered after me were served full plates of hot food during the period of time that it took me to eat my bagel. The bagel was okay, but not very large. Somewhere between lender’s size and Thoma’s size. The main dining area is quite large. Numerous 4 chair tables and booths along two walls. There is a semi-private room off to the side with a bar, likely a great location for gatherings and parties. The dining area of this establishment is very open and very clean. Also very well lit. My waitress was very friendly too. TSK. 4 empty rolls of toilet tissue in the ladies restroom makes me wonder when was the last time a staff member was in here to replenish the stock. It was 10 a.m. so they didn’t go through the rolls that day. TSK. The open mug of toothpicks at the greeting booth. I can’t imagine taking a toothpick that may have touched many not-guaranteed-to-be-clean hands and putting it in my mouth. I highly suggest wrapped picks, unwrapped ones sanitarily distributed via a dispenser or none at all(but this is simply my personal preference). If I had ordered a full meal I’m sure that something would have been impressive… maybe? This is NOT a bad review. Just a snapshot of my limited experience here. Please read my fellow Unilocalers reviews to really get a good idea of the place. OH! And there was NOSEAFOOD on the BREAKFASTMENU! I’ve been a few places that serve crab omelets!

If your name is Crabtown with a big sign that says steamed crabs, shouldn’t you have crabs??? We came here for the first time with our family visiting on vacation and we tried to order crab, but were told there was no crab, and they wouldn’t have any until tomorrow. The service was mediocre at best. We asked if there was a drink menu and we were simply told ‘No’ with no explanation. The food was pretty good, but when you’ve got your mind set on seafood, that’s what you want. We would try this place again ONLY if Crabtown actually has crabs.

Visited Crabtown Raw Bar & Grille twice so far. Once for brunch and on another occaision for dinner. Both times the food was delicious. The Crabcakes were generous in size and chuck full of crab meat. Simply yummy! The brunch had a variety of items and I tried a bit of just about everything. The prime rib was memorable, the fish perfectly cooked and there was a nice selection of sides in addition to breakfast items. The desserts looked wonderful and the other folks I was with said they were great but both times I was way too full to try them myself. Next time I’ll save room for dessert… maybe :-).

Maybe it’s just a breakfast thing, but the crab meat used on the eggs Benedict seemed dry, and canned. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was smooth. The service was a little on the slow side considering the amount of people in the restaurant. I will go back and try their other meal services as well. So far though, I miss Jack’s Place.

Just tried this place while visiting family in Hampton. Food was excellent. Oysters were fresh, crab cake was big and without a lot of filler, and the wedge salad was delicious! Looks like they just opened so there was not good signage, and we did have to ask for the raw bar menu, and flag our server down, so that is the reason for only 4 stars. Very good and worth a try.
