I wish I could give a rating lower than one star. This place is absolutely disgusting. The lobby is beautiful but once you get on the elevator and head to your room it goes from a 5star looking and smelling like a motel 6. Once we entered into our room a roach crawled out of the toilet. Even though we were in a non-smoking room it smelled like a smokers stayed in there. The covers had cigarette burns in it. There were cigarette burns on the walls. There were multiple lamps in the bedroom with only two outlets one behind the tv and one on the side of the bed closest to the door. The tv remote had no batteries, the phone didn’t work, the alarm didn’t work. We had initially paid for two nights because we were ignorant to the disgusting room. We complained to the night receptionist and he promised to refund our money for both nights. «How nice» wouldn’t you say? He also said he didn’t have the authority to do the refund. He had to wait for his manager to arrive the next the next morning. We didn’t want to stay the night but we had to because every hotel in Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg was full.(Even Motel 6) the next morning the generals manger told us he could refund one of our nights because we stayed the night and the night receptionist didn’t record our complaint in writing. We told him to call the receptionist and verify our story. The general manager refused to call the night manager saying he is off and their policy is they can’t call their employees once they leave for the day. It took 3hrs of back and forward disputing our case and the General Manager finally said«Take it up with the Better Business Bureau.» NEVER and I repeat NEVERSTAYATTHISROACHMOTEL!

Interior entrances, elevator, outdoor in season pool. I give 5 stars to the staff. Had interactions and made requests from two different desk clerks, and they both responded promptly & professionally. Room had hdtv, love seat, king bed, and microfridge. Bathroom — everything looked good and worked well, but there was always this mysterious line of water on the floor that i never could figure the source. On my reservation I had put in the requests section«need strong wifi signal» I got a slow to load and poor reception wifi signal. They are currently replacing the entire fire sprinkler system and other upgrades to the hotel.

When I stayed here, they were in the midst of a remodel– not so bad except they were remodeling the rooms across from mine as well as the lobby/breakfast room. Thankfully, they only worked from 8AM to 7PM, but the rest of the time there was incessant hammering and drilling. My room was OK, with a microwave and refrigerator, as well as an in room safe. The morning breakfast was pretty good, featuring round yellow patties that I initially thought were pancakes– they turned out to be some form of eggs. The sausages were good. The desk clerk seemed a little inexperienced, and some of the front desk staff were downright sullen. We joked that one of them seemed to have a lemon in her mouth most of the time. The multi-function shower head didn’t work and there was no phone book in the room. I didn’t try to get the shower fixed but they did dig up a phone book. The room AC unit worked fine, but then it was early March– the AC seemed to be out in the hallway. There’s a pool but it was closed. The motel, like almost all of them lately, seemed to have been owned and primarily staffed by people from India. For the most part, the housekeeping staff spoke English but not voluntarily. they seemed a little sullen as well. Some instruction in SMILING for the staff might make this place more comfortable than would any remodeling job. The pillows were about eight inches square. The TV worked and there was wi-fi, we’re told but out guests tried to use it and only picked up a signal from the nearby Day’s Inn hotel. The place is close to the Coliseum/Convention Center, which is why we chose it, as well as the price, which was about the lowest in the area. All in all, I see no compelling reason for me to stay here again.

The hotel was at the same level as most of them in Hampton including the Hilton and frankly the entire city of Hampton. Everything has seen better days and it wasn’t much to begin with. Good things: + my room actually was non-smoking unlike other places I’ve been at in this area that say the rooms are non-smoking but have once been smoked in. + lots pillow and clean soft towels and linens +some of the staff are helpful, one ordered a private car to take me to my appointment and since I didn’t know how long I had to stay they were able to update my room as I bought rooms on hotwire without having to check in again. +It was very quiet, maybe there was no one there but I never heard another sound the whole time I was there. +there was breakfast in the morning +it was quite cheap and I got a good deal on hotwire, that was probably the best thing +it was near a newer mall and while I hate malls it was the only place I could find organic salad at the target there. Bad things –like this entire area it’s run down and cheap, it didn’t have a flat screen and it wasn’t even hi-def –the heater was ancient and the tiny refrig was very loud at times. –there was no water pressure and when I tried to take a bath, it took forever to fill and then the water was too gray for me to consider bathing in it. –One of the desk clerks, an older women with poorly straightened hair was either incompetent or rude. I had several interactions with her about calling cabs, local services and she acted like I was speaking another language. She was a native English speaker so it was not a language barrier. –the elevator stopped at the 3rd floor every single time I took it. –there was free wi-fi but it was so slow! So if you have to be here for business and you don’t need much or want to spend money it’s fine because who frankly would ever want to go to this area of Virginia.

This Inn is far below the standards of the rest of the Comfort Inn chain. I had to stay here for a week recently in a horrid heat wave. My AC barely worked, there was no water pressure, the room was a collection of old broken things, and the whole place was worn out and run down. The pool and lounge seemed to be constantly full of local teenagers. The internet access was free but very slow and I was a bit appalled to be charged an extra $ 1 per day for the in-room safe, which had no batteries in it for the first 3 days and the maintenance guy had to take batteries out of some other room in order to get it working. The only nice thing I can say is that the staff was very nice and doing their best they could with clearly no budget or support from this motel’s owners. They received packages, and printed documents for me making it possible for me to get my work done. They immediately acted on any problem I brought to their attention as best they could. On my last day when the elevator broke down they knocked $ 20 off my bill for the hassle. For some inexplicable reason this town is chock full of crappy motels charging hotel prices. The only place near the Convention Center that isn’t disgusting is the far more expensive Embassy Suites, but it has its own issues. If you have the option to stay downtown near the historic district, you will be much happier.
