Alternative Energy Hearth & Patio Shoppe

So far, not so good. When it comes down to installation, service, follow-​up and communication Alternative Energy fails on all counts. It’s not even close. If I could give zero stars I would. Purchased in total four units. Three of the four we’ve had issues with. One of the four still not working properly. I still hope it will be. There is the problem though. As a customer you should not have to «hope» something is fixed. You should know it will be fixed and in a timely manner. Working in retail management most of my life I realize, sometimes things do not go as planned and sometimes they go horribly wrong. Whenever that happened I would take personal ownership of the issue and make sure that it was fixed 100% and if it wasn’t or it took more time than usually I would follow-​up and communicate 110% with the customer to make them feel at ease and ultimately satisfied with their purchase. There are multiple fireplace dealers within a couple of miles on Route 1. I would encourage you to look elsewhere. I will update review and post if a satisfactory resolution occurs, but for now, my fingers are crossed… and that’s the problem.

Horrible Customer Service. Hired them to clean my pellet stove, the techs re-​installed the stove incorrectly, and basically drilled holes in the frame to make fit. After weeks of trying to reach Jim the owner after not returning many of my calls, he basically called me a liar. When I threatened to call Regency with pictures of the work his staff did, he agreed to come back out to replace the frame he damaged. One month later, he called to say he finally received the frame, and made an appointment for the following Saturday. When the techs did not show up by 11AM, I called and was told «something must have happened and my name had been erased from the schedule. He was not willing to fit me in for another two weeks.
They did finally come out, the stove is still not correctly installed.

I purchased a Piazetta pellet stove from home and hearth. Very happy with the stove and the service received. They have been very helpful with all our warranty items too.
The high-​efficiency Piazetta Monia stove cut our winter heating costs by two thirds. Well worth it.

I’ve bought and had them install two natural gas stoves — one freestanding on a porch (Regency) and one in a fireplace (Avalon) and been treated fairly each time. I’ve also shopped for prices — there’s a cluster of stove shops in the area — and found them to be competitive — this last time I bought a floor model with all the features I could have wanted for less money than others nearby were asking for more basic models. It takes time and communication to be satisfied, as it should. Jim and Barbara are experienced and friendly. So I recommend them.

Buyer Beware. This guy Jim Quirion is a Conman. He was hired to inspect our gas fireplaces at our condo complex. His tech came out said the unit was working fine. The next day my tenant called to say the fireplace was still not working properly. I also received a notice from the condo association that my tenants were not allowed to use the fireplace without another inspection. I called Alternative Energy for 6 months before a got Jim to take my call. He told me he has been out to my unit a couple of times and the unit was working fine. I asked him what date he was back out there and he said «I do not keep those records.» My tenant confirmed he had not been back out.
He then told me he would go out and service the unit however at the last minute he told me it would be $ 125. I told him I would find someone who cared about their customer service and reputation. A complete A-​hole!
