When leaving a salon you expect to feel beautiful and refreshed even satisfied. However that was not my experience. I felt as if a child cut my hair and I was the innocent Barbie Doll. My hair now looks chopped, dry & uneven. I ran home to shower it off in hopes it wasn’t that bad … All I can say is good thing it grows back ! I will never return.

I don’t know where Gayle’s West is. Anyway, I’ve gone to Ludby for 10 or so years. He’s the best! Listens and is great with cut AND color. The ladies behind the desk and shampooers are lovely. It’s a busy salon and Ludby is booked weeks out, but he’s worth it.

I recently went to Gayle’s Salon as an out of town bride. I’m originally from Chicago, and I can say wholeheartedly that my hair, makeup, and overall experience rivalled any experience I have had with fancy Chicago salons. I almost loved my hair more than my dress that day! Gayle and her team were amazing and took care of us from the start. I had two flower girls that felt pampered, a mother that left feeling special and beautiful, and I felt like a true bride. Gayle even found a space near my ceremony where I could relax before it was time to walk down the aisle! Not to mention the salon is DARLING! If you are within a 20 minute drive, you should not be going to any other salon! I highly, highly recommend Gayle’s salon!

Went to Gayles West and got the best haircut from Roxy… don’t believe that other post about the chopped hair… the pictures looks fake to me…

Don’t let the location or it not having a fancy name fool you. I have met the BEST colorist ever at Gayles. I have been to the most expensive places both out here and mid island and they could never get my color right. Jeanie(sp) has done my hair now three times and every time it comes out perfect! Worth every penny — nice people — don’t let the location or the fact that it’s not some fancy name turn you off. LOVE this place and the people.

I needed a haircut and I needed it that day because my hair was boring, flat and straight. I couldn’t stand staring at myself in the mirror looking like ‘it’ the cousin from adams family. The only place that was open on a Monday was Gayle so I gave them a call and asked if they could take me in 10 minutes. the receptionist was extremely polite and nice. I came in 12 minutes later and she told me Paul would be giving me my haircut. He was really eccentric and friendly and gave me one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had! I wanted a lot of layers and my hair is shoulder length and he told me he would make sure it wasn’t too short that way I can still tie my hair up. Now my hair is full of volume and I take showers at night and wake up with nice little waves in my hair! $ 40.00 for a haircut that made me feel like a million bucks is totally worth it in my book!

I’ve had my hair cut and got partial high/low lights from the same stylist at the«West» location three times. With each visit I was less pleased with how my hair turned out, but I kept going back with more specific feedback with the hopes that it would improve. I have long-ish fine, wavy hair that I don’t straighten or blow out, so I realize that it’s not the easiest type of hair to deal with. However, even after detailed feedback, I just kept getting the same cut and streaky looking highlights. I don’t think it’s too much to ask not to get highlights that look like blond zebra stripes when I’ve requested«natural» and«blended» looking high/low lights. But I still wanted to keep my business in Hampton Bays, so I decided to try calling the original location on Ponquogue Ave. and discuss my situation with the receptionist there and hopefully get a recommendation for a stylist who perhaps specializes in natural looking highlights and/or wavy hair. I’ve lived in several cities across the country, and have found the last couple of stylists this way, and it worked out great — I ended up being matched with a stylist I could stick with for years and always loved my hair. But when I called this salon and kindly explained my situation(I said, «I’ve been seeing another stylist there for a while and think its time for a change — can you recommend someone who is good with long and fine wavy hair?) she interrupted me and bruskly said that«all of the stylists here are very good and I can’t give you a recommendation.» I reiterated my issue in a different way(I mean — hello? I’ve been unhappy with one of the stylists at your salon and want to switch to another one, so saying«all of our stylists are very good» doesn’t really instill a lot of confidence) at which point the receptionist barked, «I can’t give you a recommendation. What you can do is tell me when you want to come in and I can tell you who is available.» At which point I said, «Ok, I’ll ask around and see if I can get a recommendation.» She responded, «Fine» and hung up. I’m sad to say that I immediately called another salon I’d heard good things about, had a great conversation with the owner, and booked an appointment. Sure, it’s going to be a little more expensive, but at the end of the day, I guess you get what you pay for.
