Place is beautiful, and the view is great. Tasting experience was awkward, at best. Ron didn’t tell us much about what we were drinking, but did remind us a number of times that he was working for tips. We felt rushed, and uncomfortable. The wine is decent, and they have a lot of different blends/vintages to choose from. I would recommend it, but warn people not to expect a welcoming tasting experience.

Honestly, I went here because I saw that it had pretty good reviews on Google as well as on Unilocal. We are a family that are on vacation looking for wine to bring home to share with friends and family. Unfortunately our time here was not a pleasant one. When looking at previous reviews, I saw that Ron doesn’t seem to care much about the work that he does. And of course by fate we would get Ron. We came in around 4:30 and I understand that the place closes at 5, so we just wanted to try some wine and get out as soon as possible to make sure we weren’t a trouble. When we started to try wine, Ron neglected to tell us what to expect from the wine we were trying or even the name of the wine. We had to ask many times for the name of the wine. Furthermore, As we were trying out wine a big party of 14 came in as well. As soon as they started to try wine, we were neglected. We paid for our tasting minutes after and just left. I wouldn’t recommend the place, there are better wineries along the way

What a view! Great atmosphere for the tastings as well! Wine is 4 out of 5 stars in my book. Not the best on the lake, but definitely not even close to the worst. Worth the time!

I recently came here with a bunch of people for my friends birthday as part of our wine/brewery tour. This was probably my favorite place for the tastings! There were 20 of us and they had everything set up and ready to go once we got there. I loved the Tasting Room. It was beautiful! Also the layout of the tasting was fantastic! There was one woman who worked with our group and she came around with each section asking us which wine we wanted to taste. I like that we had the option to choose what we wanted to try in each. All of the wines were delicious! We also had the option to try some other things they had. For $ 5 you could get 3 samples. I tried 2 of the hard ciders and the cream bourbon by Black Button. That was outstanding and so delicious! I would love to come back here again and try some more.

Wine was fairly good. The place reminds me of some of the wineries on the north fork of LI atmosphere wise. The place was packed because they had a band playing and a bar. We were totally turned off to the place by Ron our tasting server. We had to keep asking what he was giving us and had no control over what we got. What threw us over the edge was he outright told us that we had to tip him because he gave us over the 5 wines included in the tasting. We were clearly not interested in the first few wines he poured without asking what we like. It was very low class.

The tasting room here had impressive architecture and a beautiful view. I was not impressed by any of the wines. Tasting fee applied.

This was the least impressive winery we went to. The place is gorgeous with amazing views but it seemed more like we were at a sports bar than a wine tasting. The bartender was nice, but he was just that, a bartender. We asked him questions about wines and he had no idea. He complained about the other staff who was napping in the office and that he had school work to do. Like I said, more of a sports bar.

My girlfriend and I came here yesterday. Tamby was our staff server. Tamby was so personable and knowledgeable. Amazing wines and will be coming back again and again.

I’ve had my most memorable ice wine(2003) here at Heron Hill Winery. Thinking back, I really wish I pulled the trigger on the $ 100+ bottle. When I was tasting that glass, it was the most indulgent few sips, ever. Unlike many of the ice I’ve tried, its amber in color! My mom would have loved it. At the time, there were only 2 bottles left. Ah! When I was there, the atmosphere was festive with music and food in the air. Heron Hill has a large selection of wines and three locations. The best part? Plenty of events lined up, including happy hours, live bands and barbecues. Plus, it is named one of the top ten most spectacular tasting rooms in the world by Travel & Leisure.

We spent the day wine tasting around Keuka lake, and we expected that the best thing about Heron Hill would be the view. While the location is beautiful even at this early point in spring, several of the wines were really good and we found the all the staff fun and friendly. It was our favorite winery of the day, and our visits included Konstantin Frank, Ravines, and LeSeurre. The tasting list at Heron Hill is pretty extensive and it runs the gamut from dry reds to dessert wines, so it’s a good place to find something for a wide range of palates. Six wines for $ 5 was a good value to start with(and the pours were generous, to say the least), but we picked up a Keuka passport which let us both taste here and at Ravines and we got a discount on even a single bottle at Heron Hill.

Absolutely the most gorgeous winery. The views are beyond spectacular with a tasting room that is absolutely stunning. A huge variety of wines and knowledgeable staff provides the perfect place to enjoy a day. I very much enjoyed this stop and they have a lunch place to take it all in.

This winery is a bit quieter than its neighbor, Bully Hill, but is a great stop on any wine tour. They offer a nice selection of different wines to choose from. Their tasing room is nice and the staff is knowlegable and helpful. They have nice views of Keuka Lake as well, which was nice to take in as you sip on you wine. The tasting fees are very reasonable.

Came back to this winery from a great experience a year ago. This experience was just as fantastic as the last. We were greeted by two staff members in the wine tasting room, we had no desire to taste the wines as we already knew what we wanted. Because they were so friendly we agreed too. We purchased several types of wine. Jill who helped us at customer service desk was courteous and helpful. Another fantastic visit. Thanks.

Great views, great wine. A bit formal for my tastes, and it was $ 5 to sample. Not my favorite stop, but no real complaints and I did buy a bottle.

3rd stop on our wine tour. It is relatively close to Dr. Frank’s, so it made for an easy trip. It’s $ 5 to try 6 wines. This place is situated beautifully above the lake. The tasting room’s windows overlook Keuka Lake. The wines are all really nice. My boyfriend and I loved the Late Harvest Vidal Blanc. Absolutely delicious! We ended up buying a bottle of it, and it looked like it was going by fast! I also enjoyed the Game Bird White wine. The server was also quite generous with the pours. There is a café attached, where you can order food and enjoy some live music. Great view.

It’s been a while since I was there in March. This winery had my FAVORITE wine from the Finger Lakes. The Reserve Riesling. It was dry, not sweet and had a hint of lime. The atmosphere at the Winery was great. It was very cold outside that day, but VERY warm inside. Wish I could have stayed all day! Deal — Buy 6 bottles, get 10% off.

Heron Hill had some of the better reds that I found in the Finger Lakes region but we had a small snafu when the lady misread the marks on my boyfriend’s tasting sheet and poured him a Chardonnay rather than the red he desired. He tasted and poured it out, prompting the attentive pourer to pour him a Chardonnay he «might like better.» He hates Chardonnay. Other than that though, the wine was pretty good, the service was attentive if not a little misguided and their view of the valley was breathtaking.

Beautiful winery and great view. Staffs were nice but not impressed. They were there because it’s their job, not because they were caring about wines or knowledgable about wines. Red wines wasn’t impressive, I liked some of their whites. But too commercialized…

Unfortunately this was not the highlight of our wine tasting trip. The only good part was the beautiful view. Other than that, not a whole lot to talk about. Wine was subpar. Staff was nice, but not super friendly or knowledgeable. Planned to eat here for lunch, but the café was unexpectedly closed. I think the issue might have been that we had heard such great things about the tasting room(National awards or something?) and it was nothing special at all. If you are doing the wine trail, ignore my 2 stars and stop here, its worth trying, I just can’t bring myself to give it the 3 that I’ve given better places.

The tasting room at this place is absolutely gorgeous. The other wineries in the area(Dr. Frank, Bully Hill) overlook the lake, but you have to go out to the porch of the building or you gaze at the view before you head inside. Heron Hill’s tasting room windows face the lake, so you can admire while you drink. It is definitely the most unique of the wineries we hit that day. They have a lot of different wines to choose from for your tasting. To me this is amazing. In Connecticut(not really known for wines) you try all of the wines at each winery, which ends up being 5 – 6, sometimes a few more, sometimes less. The wineries are also few and far between here. The Finger Lakes wine tastings are a completely different animal. At Heron Hill, as with several other places, you get this huge list from which you try your hardest to narrow down to 5 or 6. Going with a group is always a plus because you can coordinate your choices with others. The young girl serving us was very sweet. She also actually knew my mom. My mom had been her teacher when she was younger. She was very funny and well informed about the wines. Even if she hadn’t know my mom I know she would’ve been just as nice and helpful with her recommendations and information. If you are doing the wine tour in the area, this is a «must stop.»
