Residence Inn Chicago Southeast/Hammond, IN

This is a fairly typical Residence Inn; it’s clean & comfortable. The lobby area was recently re-​modeled. The location is convenient to the greater Chicago-​land area, especially to the south side. The hotel sits in a small cluster of similar Marriott branded properties, just south of Interstate 80. Noise from highway traffic is a slight nuisance, so I would recommend selecting a room as far from the highway as possible. The complimentary breakfast is decent; I enjoyed the waffles; the scrambled eggs were cooked a bit hard, but at least they were real eggs, not re-​constituted as at some hotels. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. — For beer geeks, the Three Floyds Brewpub is only about 6 miles away in neighboring Munster, IN.

Nice hotel. Very close to the highway. The best part of the hotel are the beds. They were perfect, I felt like I was at home. The gym is small, but it has free weights and a bench, as well as treadmills. The breakfast was average, but there is a Cracker Barrel right next door. The only complaint I would really have with this hotel is that there were multiple dogs staying here, and they seemed to bark all the damn time. The staff is very friendly.

If you’ve ever been to the Hammond/​Munster/​Highland area, you’ll note that there’s a serious lack of nicer places to stay, so it’s nice to see the Residence Inn on the list of options. The hotel is small (approximately 48 rooms), but the rooms themselves are spacious (we had a studio with plenty of room) and clean. The staff was extremely friendly, which I appreciated, especially since we pricelined our room, so obviously got a killer rate for the night. Oh and, most importantly, the beds are comfortable.
The hotel is located just off the interestate, which is really convenient. Complimentary breakfast comes with the room, but there’s a Cracker Barrel next door if that’s more your speed. I’ll definitely stay here again.
