Good flavor selection, very good taste. I like that you can mix 2 flavors in same cup!
Horchata, root beer, lots of fruit flavors including cherry, strawberry, apple.
Strawberry Apple Pie is great!

There Italian ice is so amazing, on top of that the employees are so friendly. Its a family run place and the ice is made by them they also have a variety of flavors from mango to blue raspberry and nerds. And thats just to name a some to know what im talking about you have to go there your self and experience there quality Italian ice.

My husband & I were looking for something sweet to eat & was going to settle for Dunkin Donuts (which is right next door to this location) This place caught his eye & we opted for Italian Ice instead. Now. Before coming here, I never had Italian Ice before. (insert gasp) lol
When we walked in, there was a young lady wiping off the counter. She immediately stopped what she was doing & greeted us with a pretty smile & eager attitude. I knew right then this was going to be a pleasant visit. There are various flavors on the wall to choose from & they let you sample! I asked a couple of questions & the young lady answered them with no hesitation (Good Job!!) They have good prices for their cup sizes & their flavors are like an explosion of fun in your mouth lol I got Green Apple & Watermelon & my Husband got Wildberry (Skittle flavor) & Mandarin Orange… Both was delicious! With me being in the hospitality business customer service is everything to me so I just had to leave a review. I didn’t give 5 stars because I’m a bit of a nit picker & just wanted to see an update of décor in the store. No worries though, with great flavors & excellent customer service, ppl wont even care lol I just see so much potential & it kinda suck to see space wasted. All in all. My husband & I will be back soon!

Awesome! Nice selection of flavors, including some great ones (Swedish fish) as well as some interesting ones. Great quality and quantity for the money. Can’t wait for the new location to open.

Preface: This review is based solely off of my experiences with Jodi’s Italian Ice in the Dyer/​Schererville region.
This is a quaint little Italian ice shop that is managing to survive in a location few other stores have, though I’ve been told they plan on relocating this branch to a more suburban area where families will be able to walk and bike to get their Italian ice fixes.
The flavored change every day, if not twice daily. Jodi’s has wonderful Swedish Fish Ice, Sour Patch Ice, and Berry Skittles Ice, all of which represent their original counterparts well. They take requests for specific flavors, as the chef extraordinaire loves a good challenge.
All in all, the only things I would tweak is to have the styrofoam cups and napkins branded with their name or color scheme rather than the plain old white that you can find at a little league ballgame concession stand. I would also try to get some kind of décor theme going on so it feels more like a professional business rather than just a successful side hobby. But other than that, I commend you for your wonderful work and exciting flavors!

This is is my updated review! After having a very unpleasant first visit, the owner Jodi contacted and apologized for the bad experience. She asked if I would give them another shot. Being that she contacted me personally and seemed like she cared about her customers and business I decided to go back. I went once again to the whiting location. Being fairly close. The same girl was there this time she did say hello but defiantly lacks customer service skills and other of my friends also say the same thing about her. This time i had the piña colada italian ice! Uh-​may-​zing! Defiantly great flavors! And really value a business who cares about their customers! Some improvement on the staff but this is Defiantly a gem in NWI!!! 2 stars to 4! :)

Very good… lines were a bit long and they ran out of a few flavors, but I guess that’s to be expected on a HOT Sunday afternoon! :) Loved the Green Apple, Peach & Swedish fish… Hope I get to try the Sour patch next time! #we’llbeBack

Price good. Flavors good. What’s not to like! Occasional weird flavors too like cucumber or Swedish Fish. Free samples if you’re not sure, just ask.
As a long time resident of chicago heights and faithful customer to Zarlengos, both places in their own right are phenomenal. Quit reading this, GO GET SOME!

Me, my wife and son tried it tonight. Me and my son had Swedish Fish and my wife had strawberry Italian Ice. Both flavors were spot on and amazing! Many other flavors too! Looking forward to coming back and I’m spreading the word! Somehow after seeing Jodi on Comcast I knew this was going to be excellent quality and it sure was! (We tried the Schererville location)

I love everything about this family business! We have been to 2 locations a few times now each and each time is nothing less than amazing. Each flavor we have tried is delicious. The customer service is always 5 star.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I had a small mango Italian ice… it was worth every penny. I shared it with my daughter and we were both satisfied. The flavor was spot on! I will definitely return, with all my friends!

My kids love this place and all the flavors are great! My favorite is horchata and cherry. Owners are super nice. I love that it’s down the street from my home.

I love this little place. It’s welcoming and unpretentious and the Italian ice is so delicious.
I’d never had shaved ice or Italian ice outside of that stuff you can get at the freezer section at the grocery store. This is completely different. Creamy (without cream), luscious, flavorful, velvety, even rich.
I love that it’s family-​owned, and the people at the counter are always super friendly and sweet. No snark when you ask a million questions.
I went today and they weren’t selling any soup, but usually they have a couple soups of the day and it also looks like they’re selling nachos and cinnamon rolls now. In addition to the Italian ice, you can get ice cream. The best is ice cream plus ice. Heaven! I’ll be back a bunch this coming spring and summer, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know.

It’s a small shop and it keeps getting better. The Swedish red fish flavor is soooo good! Then the mango and the cherry… Oh my gosh! The horchata! Okay the list can go on they are all good!
Jodi is now making some more treats too for the winter like cup cakes, brownies and fudge!!! The soup is great too!

Love that this is a local place. Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. I like how they keep their followers on Facebook updated on flavors and new stuff.

I am a Italian ice fanatic and this place takes me back when I was just a little girl waiting for my parents to take me downtown to get an Italian ice from one of the peddlers that was selling it in all flavors.
I can’t believe not too far from my neighborhood I have a place that I can go to just get the samples before purchasing the right that I want
Jodi is awesome as well as the rest of her family, they give you great customer service (with a smile on top) definitely let you try the flavors they have on hand!

I grew up in Chicago and summers meant trips to Mario’s Italian ice as a treat. So when I saw Jodi’s was open I made a point to take my daughter and grandson out for some Italian ice last night. I has a scoop of lemon and a scoop of lime, the lemon took me right back to my childhood and Mario’s Italian Ice, Jodi’s is as good if not better. The lime for me was almost a bit too sour, but was a very authentic lime flavor.
My grandson enjoyed the heck out of his scoop of blue raspberry ice and blueberry gelatto. I sampled the blue raspberry and it was yummy!
My daughter has a scoop of lemon and a scoop of Strawberry, she love them both but she said the strawberry was hands down the best of the two.
All the scoops had generous chunks of fruit, and with the exception of the lime the perfect sweetness and summer night’s treat! Of course that is just my personal preference.
We returned to Jodi’s today so my other daughter could try some she had Mango and Pineapple, she loved the Mango. I had pineapple and Lemon, the pineapple had a generous amount of fruit and was absolutely wonderful and a great compliment to the Lemon. I might have to try that combination again sometime.
The prices are pretty good and the service excellent! They will let you sample any flavor you want to try before you buy, and there are a lot of flavors to choose from. I have seen people on facebook offer suggestions to Jodi as well for flavors and she has agreed to try them. So don’t see something you like (which I would think impossible) then maybe offer up something you would like to try.
It’s a great alternative for ice cream, although they do have some ice cream available as well.

This place is absolutely awesome! It has literally turned into a daily routine for my family.
