This is my fav nail salon in the area. It is family owned and so they don’t exploit their workers like so many places. Tina does the best gel manicures, never a long wait, great service and very friendly.

Went on a saturday and the place was empty. That should have been my first clue. After a pedicure and a manicure one of my toes started to hurt, now have a problem with an ingrown toe nail. My polish pealed off my finger nails after two days. Never again!

This was my first time having a manicure or pedicure done. I read some reviews and this place was convenient so I stopped in. I was seen right away; the woman who was going to do my nails offered a massage/spa treatment for only $ 5 more so I took her up on it. I wished she had given me more time to choose colors as I ended up changing them anyway later on. I was brought to the foot spa seat and chose the green tea treatment consisting of a leg/foot massage and a hot wrap. A few minutes in, a gentleman who works there turned on the massage aspect of my chair which I disliked and turned off — too much rolling and squeezing, I felt like I was going to fall off. Just some simple vibration would have sufficed. When the woman took off my leg wraps, she gave me a hot stone massage and I’m fairly sure she burned me as there is now a red mark on my leg where I said«ow» before she cooled it off with water. Thanks, lady. The leg massage kind of hurt too. Since this was my first experience, I’d never had my cuticles pushed or cut. Um, it hurts. I’m puzzled why so many people find this relaxing. It felt like going to the dentist. Eventually she finished my toenails and we walked over to the fingernail area. She then told me i have to pay before doing the fingernails, probably for the ease of leaving after drying. So she says it’s $ 52…a large difference from the $ 40 i thought it was going to be(since the wall said $ 35 for a mani pedi and she said only $ 5 more). I was pissed and told her it was my first time and she was not clear about the pricing. I only tipped her on the original cost I thought it was going to be. After that ordeal, the nails were the same thing: cut my nails, used lotion, pushed and cut my cuticles(again, ow) and painted them nicely. After, she sat me at the drying station and was going to walk away and I asked, a bit sharply, «uh, how long do I sit here?» «No less than 10 minutes.» That is a boring ten minutes, let me tell you. I was seated too far from the drying station and had a pretty lame view of nothing. Overall, I didn’t like being tricked about the price, being BURNT, or the massage. The nails look nice, I will give her that. I probably won’t get a manicure or pedicure done for quite a while as I didn’t really enjoy the whole process, but I definitely don’t plan on going back here.

This place is clean, everyone was friendly and the prices are great. Last night was my first time here and I will be making it my regular place from now on.

I was looking for a nail salon close to where my mom lives in Hamden and saw this place from Dixwell Ave. as I drove by. It’s in the shopping plaza where Home Depot is. It was late morning on a Sunday and the place was just opening and was very clean and quiet. All of the people who worked there were kind, pleasant and every one of them looked me in the eye, smiled and said hello. They have a great selection of OPI polish and a moderate selection of Essie. I was seated immediately for my mani/pedi. The pedi chairs are amazing! State of the art and extremely good at massage. A man did my pedi and did an excellent job. There is no extra selling– the pedi includes a very long foot and leg massage with exfoliation and at the end a hot stone massage! He did all filing(no nail clippers) and the nails looked perfect. Great job. Next, a lovely woman named Aya did my nails and she proudly claimed that women see her for cuticles. She’s very proud that she expertly cuts the cuticle without accidentally cutting the finger and leaving the nail bed very clean of cuticle skin. I have to say, she was right. Her work was excellent! Her station was very clean and she did a beautiful job on my nails. I have a few cons: there is a big screen TV that is on for people who get pedis and it is loud and annoying. I asked them to turn it off and they did, but when new people came in to get a pedi, on it went again! It also sucks that they wear gloves for the pedi. The massage just doesn’t feel as good with gloves on. The polish selection needs to be updated and freshened up– especially with Essie. It cost me $ 31.00 for the whole thing. Amazing deal. This place will get its groove and hopefully be very successful. They are kind and deserving people and their efforts should be rewarded with many loyal customers!
