Great tree removal service in Hamden. I got several prices and they were the most competitive and their team was very professional!

The guy who did the estimate was really great, and customer service was nice. They set a date two weeks out and said the would come Tuesday. Then the day before, they canceled and rescheduled for Thursday. I waited all day Thursday, called at 5pm, and was told they were still coming, but they never did. Called again and they rescheduled for Saturday morning. Waited all morning, called but no one answered, so since this was the third day that week that I took the day off of work, I left and they did the job sometime that afternoon. They left some tape and glasses in the yard but at least the tree and most of the debris was gone. Communication was much more frequent over the next few days, as I got three calls a day requesting payment.

Kyle, co-​owner, bought a crew in and did a fantastic job cutting down six very large oak trees. One was hanging over the porch and house, and had been a source of worry for my wife and me. They were in and out in a day and all the trees were gone!
They arrived when they said they would, finished on-​time and charged me what they had estimated. It doesn’t get any better than that!

We were given an estimate which we agreed to after someone came to survey the job, and we signed into agreement. On the day of the job, only half the crew arrived, and they arrived an hour late, and from the time they arrived it felt like they tried to negotiate increasing the price or else refused to do the work. Even before seeing the job area, the crew grumbled about how this was out of scope from the agreement.
I tried calling the office manager a few times while the foreman was upset about the job and that he needed more equipment. My phone calls kept going to their answering service without responses. For an hour and half, their crew sat there in front of my home, refusing to begin work because what they thought they were going to do as written in the agreement was not what they expected and they did not have enough crew and equipment to move the trees while they did their job. They blamed the person who came to provide the estimate that he did not estimate correctly and told me I had to talk to him. When he called he acknowledged all sorts of excuses and said that K&J Tree Removal was canceling my agreement for no apparent reason, and that they were sending their crew to another job… I was disgusted, specially after I took time off from work and now we are delayed by 3 weeks and our landscaping bushes that were to be planted after this tree removal job are going to die because they cannot be planted until the trees are removed.
What a dishonest, irresponsible and unprofessional company… crew blaming the person who came to survey and provide the estimate, and office staff cared less and says hey your agreement is canceled. If you see their flyer in the mail, please toss it and save yourself losses and plenty of aggravation. At the time of providing an estimate, they come up with all sorts of promises about being a large company that has the right crew and equipment, when in fact it proved in my case to be untrue. They did not have the equipment nor the crew to handle even this small project. What they do have are false promises and plenty of glossy flyers.
What I still cannot understand is why the foreman who was sent with some equipment and crew was trying to estimate the job when he was sent to do the job based on the estimate and signed agreement. And by the way, they have penalties if you did not inform them three days before the job, however they consider they can cancel on you on the day of the job and tell you that it should have cost more. They were my second highest quote so there was no way I was going to pay more, at the last minute as I have quotes from other companies that quoted below them.

He came on time for the estimate and finished the jobs on time. The workers showed professional skills. I highly recommend their services.

These dudes took care of some pretty big and intrusive trees in our yard recently and did a fantastic job. Didn’t get charged extra for dealing with moving snow and they cut pieces into firewood-​sized logs (we will need to split further, but knew that going in). They were even awesome enough to move all the wood together from multiple trees, so we don’t have to go all over yard to collect stuff to split. Price was competitive and they were really quick once they got to work. My daughter had a fun time watching them cut the whole tree, since they have a lot of mobile equipment. Will be calling them again since we have a million trees in our yard. We caught them during a sale in the winter and got a pretty good deal. The other thing that I liked about this company was they called to ask me if they could come earlier than we had originally scheduled. This ended up working out particularly well for my family. Very professional staff, both on phone, during quote, and during tree demo.
