This is the only hotel in Hamburg and the reviews seemed alright so we stayed. I wish we hadn’t. The outside seems so well kept, but that does NOT translate to the interior. I did not know PA allowed smoking and the first room they assigned me was smoking and reeked. Thankfully they did get is a nonsmoking room with no issues. The room we were put into was in need of serious renovation though. Buckled peeling wallpaper, stained walls and hairs(not mine) on the bathroom floor all contributed to am experience I do not wish to repeat. There was no soundproofing in the rooms; it was like being in a college dorm. The rooms are out dated and in sore need of far more than a facelift. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!

I am posting this review to let others know about this hotel. Not the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, but certainly not on my list of hotels to return to. We chose this hotel because the colleges in the area had graduations the weekend we were traveling through the area, and all the hotels were booked and way overpriced(Holiday Inns were at $ 225 a night). Decided to visit Cabela’s on Saturday morning on our return trip from Vermont and couldn’t find anything in the area for less than $ 200 night, which was out of our budget for a single night stopover. First impression of the hotel was not good, the front desk clerk was at best, surly. We quickly checked in and then discovered that the elevator sounded like it was dying. I have been to hotels all over the world, and have never found a noisier or scarier elevator yet. The overall interior of the hotel may be new, but is rundown and does not have any touch of quality to it. I was not impressed and the«hot» breakfast was not even worth the walk down the stairs(which we used, due to concerns over the elevator). Ended up at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, and was glad to be out of this place. Would never stay here again.

We arrived at the hotel around 6 pm to check in and were given our room keys. First the 2nd floor is mostly smoking rooms. Make sure you don’t stay on the 2nd floor if you are interested in a non smoking room. Secondly, we used the room key to enter our room and noticed there was someone’s stuff in the room immediately upon entering. There was someone sleeping in the bed. We immediately went back to the desk to report the issue and it was immediately resolved by getting a different room assignment on the non smoking 1st floor. There needs to be more organization in assigning rooms and I certainly don’t feel safe leaving my items in the room due to not knowing if room keys would be assigned to someone else for my room — scary! Glad I’m only here 1 night and I won’t be coming back!

I’d like to thank the staff here for the help they provided to weary travelers after Hurricane Sandy. Despite having no vacancy(just like every other hotel for miles around), they were able to provide us with hot showers for a small fee($ 10), and a chance to charge up cell phones. And they were delightfully friendly and courteous while doing so.
