Warm and cozy, super friendly, and very busy on a Sunday night after a Bill’s game. I’m not sure if it’s always like this, but even an hour and a half after the game ended two of us waited for half an hour for a table. The menu is the usual selection of Buffalo favorite… wings and weck and fish fries… with lots of sandwiches and entrees as well. We decided to do «sharesies» all the way and ordered an order of chicken fingers medium(yours truly is bone-phobic) as an appetizer, then a crock of french onion soup, and then a sandwich. The chicken fingers were delicious. Big, meaty, and crisp… the sauce was hot enough, but not too hot. They were accompanied by carrot and celery sticks and bleu cheese for dunking. The soup was fantastic. The broth was hearty and not too salty. The cheese was plentiful and gooey, and that which wasn’t floating on top of the bread was fun to peel from the sides of the crock. The sandwich, «Fitz’s Favorite»(turkey, bacon, tomato and American cheese, grilled between two slices of sourdough bread) was big enough to share. Each third was two-hands large, and quite tasty. It was accompanied by french fries and a pickle spear. The service was great and the prices were fair. This is a definite go-to when looking for a place to eat in the Southtowns.

Went here with my girlfriend for dinner. We arrived to a very nice set up but the condition of the floor really caught our eye which was completely covered in straw wrappers, food crumbs and dirty napkins… gross. The food quality was average for some reason the French dip my girlfriend ordered didn’t come topped with Swiss cheese as most places do. As for the service, it was great in the beginning but when we finished our meal our waitress was no where to be found. 10 minutes go by she finally comes out to the dining room with a bunch of other waitresses and I ask for our check. She comes back with it and I need change. Another 10 minutes goes by. Our waitress is nowhere to be found again so I get change from the hostess counter and leave our payment our table and left. Won’t return.

As usual, we had great food and service! JP’s is our favorite place to go for a night out. The sangria is wonderful and there is a very long list of beers to choose from. The wait staff even brought us a sample of a new beer to try.

So this place is always packed. Don’t let the full parking lot deter you — there’s lots of room inside. Great cod fish fry on Friday. Good solid casual menu the remainder of the week.

Great atmosphere and service. Less than impressed with the Montana wings as they were rubbery. I expected crispy since they grill them after deep frying.

The boyfriend & I were visiting from Ontario, attending a concert at the Fairgrounds, and we stopped here for dinner. Lucky for us it happened to be on a Friday, so we got to experience the fish fry! The wait was the biggest downside to the visit. The place was so busy we were told we’d have to wait 1 – 1.5 hours for a table. We decided to wait, since we didn’t know the area well and the Fairgrounds were so close by(and we had time to kill). There were masses of people getting takeout of the fish fry– that piqued our interest. When we finally got a table we decided to try it for ourselves. It was definitely delicious, I wish the portions had been a little bigger. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Prices were really reasonable. If I’m in the area again I’ll definitely come back(as long as the wait isn’t too long).

Six of us met for dinner tonight. We have met at JP’s before and the food is always good. Never great but good enough to keep us coming back. Other attributes we enjoy are location, bar and patio. Tonight’s experience was anything but desirable. The service was awful. Normally, we don’t expect the best service there but since we meet more for the company of our group and the drinks, it’s not as noticeably horrendous. The server was short, never smiled, spilled multiple items on us. Thankfully the cup of French Onion soup was lukewarm at best or my arm and leg would have been scalded. We sat with empty drinks for a bit and if it weren’t for the bussing staff we really wouldn’t have had much of any service at all. Out of the six entrees ordered, I would recommend the Fritz shrimp, fried chicken and the French dip sandwich. Their French onion soup is usually fantastic however ours came out cold. Unfortunately I truly believe the service in a restaurant can make or break the entire dining experience. We’ll be back but I think I’ll eat dinner prior to meeting and just enjoy the drinks and laughs I share with my friends.

I’ve eaten here several times. It’s a popular destination for my family, as it is a short walking distance from my parents’ house. They have a pretty good beer selection. I wouldn’t say it’s a craft beer destination, but they always have several on tap, including local offerings like Big Ditch and Hamburg Brewing. Typical pub fare, nothing to rave about but always good. The wings here are pretty good. On my most recent visit here, I had cheddar ale soup and a green salad, both were fresh and good. The service has always been fine, no complaints. I always have a good time here. My favorite place to sit is the enclosed patio room. It does get quite busy here on weekends, but they seem to be staffed well enough to keep up.

The door is in the back of the building, we walked all the way around the building assuming it was in the front… whoops! J.P. Fitzgerald’s seemed to have a ton of space; a private room, dining room a bar and the patio allows you to choose the type of atmosphere you want to have. You will feel comfortable whether you show up in slacks or in shorts and a t-shirt. I enjoyed the chicken wings in their Montana style. It is a sweet and spicy style bbq sauce that a lot of places attempt and miss the mark, they accomplished what they set out to do. They were nice crisp wings, sauced well and then grilled to carmelize the sauce. The spiciness was there, but by no means was it overwhelming. My wings were a little on the small side, but with flavor like this you will still be happy. My server was attentive, which doesn’t always happen on patios, sometime you are out of sight out of mind. If I was in the area I would come back.

The Shepard’s Pie was quite delicious! Perfectly crisp topping of potato, juicy meat with just the right amount of veggies mixed in.

I went on St. Patrick’s day but called ahead for my order. The girl on the line said 20 mins and when I got there the order was done. That is great service for how busy they were. I got the monster corn beef sandwich man it was so big I had to save half of it for the next day. The bread had a light toasting, the meat was very tender and had a great taste. It was like a party in every bite

FISHFRYPROMISEDLAND I finally got around to wrapping my mouth around the coveted JP’s fish fry that has been known to have such a profound and intoxicating affect on local patrons that its caused them to sell off their first-born children for another taste(It’s ok, the children live downstairs in the beer cellar until they are of age to work in the bar, kitchen or restaurant. The good looking kids spend their days practicing their Irish jigs & singing«Sweet Caroline», and are fed a steady diet of chicken wings and Gypsy Pete’s until they’re ready to bartend or become a hostess. The uglier kids shovel coal and are fed fish heads and cabbage until they are able to become bouncers. It’s a fair system.) Anyways, that fish fry DIDNOT disappoint. Better yet, I had it in the form of a fish sandwich, and armed with it’s portability I could walk around and I still had one hand free for darts, beer drinking and shenanigans! It’s been some time since I was last at JP’s, but the remodel looks great. Bigger patio, more TV’s and a huge banquet room are all nice additions to an already stellar hang-out spot. It looks as if though all of those improvements have added a lot more business because a ton more parking has been added with an access driveway on South Park Ave.

We have been a fan of the fish fry at JP’s for probably about 20 years now. Tried them other places over the years but the other could never measure up. Last time we went though, I thought it wasn’t up to its usual excellence. I am hoping their latest remodel/expansion hasn’t affected the food quality. Anyway — I can’t rate the other dishes but they do have a large variety of things from bar food to dinners. The atmosphere is great. Very casual, but also very nice. Beware — they can get very crowded — reservations recommended for the weekend!

My husband and I went to dinner tonight with a couple of our best friends. We love the food and service at JP’s and go there very often, but boy did we have an awful night at the table we were given. We are all in our 60’a and were placed at a lovely front table. To our surprise we were then with a party of 16 or more and at least 7 – 8 kids. We couldn’t even talk with one another. It was so loud!!! The table for this party was reserved and set when we were given our table, and I don’t feel like we should have been put in that room, seeing as how they knew there was going to be this big party. The kids were so loud. When we go out, we want to enjoy ourselves, and be able to at least talk with one another. This could not happen tonight. My recommendation for JP’s would be to reserve the whole room for parties, and not place four older adults in a room with a party with all these kids. The parents and grand-parents did nothing to quiet the children even seeing that we were in the front corner of this room. Our waitress was great, and the food was as well.

3.5÷5 Home of the best fish fry in WNY? I had to check it out. Location/Parking: This place is crazy busy and popular, not sure I quite understand it however. The lot is pretty huge but it was still jam packed with people making up their own spots. Also I had to drive through a Hamburg traffic circle where people do NOT know how traffic circles work. WTF Hamburg… Décor: Irish pub meets family restaurant from the late 90s. Service: A nice old grandma waitress. The name on our bill was«momma». I love it! Friend called for a reservation this morning and we got in at 5:30, no problem. Food: Fish of the fish fry: It was beer battered, not greasy, not crispy… the fish was perfection. It was really, really tasty. I took off the breading and almost felt like I was eating healthy fish LOL. But the breading was not heavy, or greasy, perfection. I got the german potato salad and macaroni salad. Both also very good. Got my hubs and Combo II which consisted of a mini beef on wek, chicken fingers and chicken wings for under 10 bucks. The food was pretty good and actually had spice to it! A very solid option, but I wouldn’t drive with the crazy Hamburg people to get there. I crown this place the best fish of a fish fry thus far in WNY!
