BOMBA Tacos & Rum

They changed their name, use to be Paladar. Similar menú but I found the quality much better and I guess they also have new management and the service was good. You can see the improvement.

The food is overpriced and the flavor is pretty bland. The staff is great and our waiter was really friendly but the tacos were so bad, and the rice and beans had 0 flavor. I actually can’t believe people pay money for this.

TL;DR — 4.5 stars… yes it was THAT good!
I was meeting up with a friend for dinner (he was coming from Miami) so it made sense to pick somewhere in between us. I perused my Unilocal Bookmarks and found BOMBA (definitely bookmarked after Krys’ review!)…suggested it to my friend and he happily agreed.
Seeing that Gulfstream is one big giant confusing place to me, I opted to arrive a little bit early to give myself to find BOMBA. Typically I would have just parked and walked, but it’s S. Fl winter and I was freezing, so I flagged down a security officer and asked for directions.
LOCATION — in the main circle area across from Yardhouse!
We were eating on a Tuesday night so I was a little surprised and impressed when I heard live music! Since I actually like to talk I requested a table in a somewhat quiet area and it worked out perfectly. Could still enjoy the music, could still enjoy the conversation.
I initially walked in not too hungry, but after waiting for my friend and looking over the menu I wanted everything! Seriously, the whole menu sounds good… and my friend and I did debate whether or not we could try all 18 tacos without dying lol.
Since mojitos and margaritas were half off (last day of some promotion) we both tried the pomegranate-​ginger mojito… which I loved!
Of course, we knew we were getting tacos but also added two snacks — the bacon wrapped jalapenos and the mojo pork tostones. Both were REALLY good, but I may have liked the jalapenos just a hair more.
Tacos here are a little pricey — $ 3 or $ 4 depending on your choice, but they are well worth the price. Slightly larger than your average small tortilla and stuffed to the gills with the filling! We were both really impressed but the quality and the quantity.
My selections were the — crispy shrimp, mushroom and the duck. Hard to pick a favorite because they were each so unique! Seriously loved them all!
Because we needed just one more bite we selected the churros. Not the best churros, and I found them tasting more of oil than anything else, so we added a vanilla ice cream to try and perk them up a bit. Next time, I’d get the flan lol.
Overall, a great experience, and I’m already plotting when I can come back! Our server was great and we were checked on by two different managers as well, which was impressive!

Visited this place for a friend’s birthday and had an amazing experience. Restaurant is located inside a huge shopping center. There are tons of stores and it’s very quiet. They have indoor and outdoor eating. The outdoor eating offers personal table heaters for cold days. We were given a nice private area for a friend’s birthday at no extra cost. We went during happy hour and found a lovely selection of appetizers and drinks for $ 4. Pork tostones– delicious. Chicken empanadas– yum. House mojitos– sip sip.
The entrée menu had a ton of choices of tacos, including many vegetarian options. Additionally, our waiter was super helpful. The only thing I did not like was that the sizes of the entrée menu were small compared to the price. You need to spend at least $ 16 on tacos to get full. All in all, it was a great experience. I would go again.

Great food, fried avocado is to die for,‘z. Definitely will come back and try something else in the menu. Their specialty drinks are great.

Wasn’t impressed with food or atmosphere. We tried a variety of tacos-​I was most excited about the duck. I was so disappointed with the presentation, quality & service. The service in itself was weird-​every person who worked there stopped check on us-​every 5 minutes. Also it was way over priced for the quality of food.

Well finally the holidays are over no more home cook meals back to Unilocaling first off this place was the bomb just like it’s name states. Tacos were amazing better than imaginable. Staff was very help full. Happy hour was great mango Magaritas. Must come again. They have ping pong table and a lot of tvs .

Absolutely amazing selection of tacos and the guacamole is fantastic! The rio chicken and the braised beef tacos are amazing. So juicy and just perfect in flavor. I like SPICEY so I got hot sauce. Absolutely I will be back! Service was good however it was a slow Monday. Apparently the Rio chicken taco is oldest taco inherited from the old company and that’s for a reason. It’s so good!

I really wanted to like this place, and have tried to come up with more positives to put in this review, but I just couldn’t it. It’s too bad because Happy Hour from 4−7pm daily sounds like a really good deal.
As we sat down around 6pm, we knew we had to put a drink order in ASAP so there will be enough time for another one. No brainier to order a couple of mojitos and their signature guacamole first. I though my mojito tasted okay, but some how I just felt like there was something off about the drink but I really couldn’t tell what. After I had my second round, I noticed that the bartender took a glass out of the freezer with what appear to be the ingredients of a mojito in the glass. Apparently they have made a bunch of glasses like that in the freezer and all they had to do was to add white rum when they get the order. I am not sure if that would made any differences, but I don’t think I’d have enjoyed the taste of frozen sugar and mint leaves in my drink. Maybe it’s their way of short cut in order to get the drinks out quicker.
I thought the guac tasted okay, but a little salt would’ve gone a long way. The bowl of chips that came with was not so good. Some chips were so hard I almost cracked my teeth. The four tacos we picked from their taco menus were not good neither. We had one Al pastor Pork, one crispy fish, one crisp shrimp and slow braised duck tacos, all four tacos with the exception of the duck lacks seasonings. And I really wished that they toasted or at least warm their tortillas because it helps releases all kinds of complex flavors. Since they didn’t, they tasted no different then the ones I can get from Taco Bells.
We’d probably come back again for the drinks, but I think I’d only stay at one end of the bar. Because our bartender of the evening was very nice and friendly. She was the only one I saw working hard to get the drinks out quickly and properly. While she was working hard, I saw the other bartenders were not doing anything or gave a good effort to help getting the drinks out. I even saw one particular bartender made all the drinks short, then topped the glass off with soda water. I don’t want to sound picky, but that doesn’t sound good to me, even if it’s during happy hour.

From the minute we walked in the door things were ackward. From the hostess to the waiter, menu and décor. We were seated at 640 in time for the happy hour drink and appetizer specials ending at 700. Tried to order several at 659 and was told it was to late. Appealed to a manager and got and exception but still left a sour taste in my mouth. Their signature dishes are guacamole and tacos. The guacamole was quite average and served with a medley of root vegetable chips that were impossible to eat. We had to actually re– season the guacamole before eating it. We tried six flavors of tacos. A few were good but most were boring. The highlights of the meal were the apps including ceviche and empanadas. The empanadas were fantastic. But I wouldn’t go back.

First off we understand there was no reservations due to New Years Eve however we got there at 8:05 pm. The employee tells us there’s a 2 HR wait to sit our 15 group (our family which includes my pregnant sister and 5 kids). We patiently wait 2 hrs to find out we have to wait another 30 mins, we asked at least 3 times afterwards until they tell us they cannot give us anymore time frames. At this time our family members are tired of the wait and head home as it was 11:30 PM.
So I’m taking the time to write this review to let everyone know how unorganized this business this.
There was many other tables they could of accommodated us however they chose not to.

Guacamole is fantastic. Though this is called Bomba Tacos and Rum. The tacos were mediocre at best. If I were Mr. Bomba, I’d disguise that fact and call the place Bomba Guacamole and Craft Beer. Because at least the beer comes pre-​made.
Overall, this place was a real bust. The tacos were nothing to write home about, and the mixed drinks were way too sweet. And the service!!! Let’s just say the waiter apologized for forgetting about us, then had the nerve to ask if I needed change when he watched me peel bills off my money clip to cover a modest check.
In conclusion, this place sucks. I’d invest a few minutes and search for a better Mexican restaurant, or even a better restaurant in Gulfstream than this. Knib High Football Rules. Peace and love, peace and love.

Without a doubt the best, freshest, most innovative tacos I’ve ever experienced! Our fabulous server, Mike Cole, made very good suggestions and the shrimp and bacon guacamole was unbelievably good. Did I say good? Make that outstanding! I would have licked the bowl if I hadn’t been raised properly!
Chipotle Mushroom, Charred Kale and Corn and Salvadorian BBQ tacos are just the beginning of the culinary delights that await you at this fun casual restaurant.
Drinks are also a marvel with one of the best margaritas on the rocksI ever had. and I’ve had my fair share. made with fresh ingredients and agave nectar with just the right balance of tequila and orange liqueur. So yummy, too bad I was driving.
Thank you Ean Carroll for bring us a taco that I didn’t order when I told him I had been on the fence, struggling to decide. You made my day and I will be s loyal and frequent customer.
Can’t wait to go back and honestly, if you want to delight your taste buds, this is the place.

My mom and I stopped here for lunch today and had a great time! We started with a bacon and shrimp guacamole (recommended by our server) that was delicious! My mom ordered the chipotle mushroom, chicken Tinga, and the BBQ pork taco which came with perfectly seasoned skinny-​cut fries. I ordered the BBQ pork taco, crispy shrimp taco (recommended by server) and the Caribbean mango salad. EACH of our entrees were under $ 10 since we were there for the lunch special which is Wednesday– Sunday, 11am-​3pm. Definitely over ordered, but how can you not with prices like that?
Everything was phenomenal. Every flavor was on point and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Had a really nice conversation with Ean (GM), and when my mom told him she was torn between the chipotle mushroom taco and the corn and kale taco he graciously brought it out for free for us both to try! Our server Mike Cole was also amazing with his service and his recommendations– and made my mom the best margarita she’s ever had!

This place has like 20 varieties of tacos. Everything from crispy avocado to slow braised duck, and of course al pastor in between. What I really LOVE about this place is its variety of vegetarian options. Like chipotle mushroom with goat cheese, sweet potatoes with hearts of palm, zucchini and black bean. Traditional Mexican taco is definitely not veg friendly, but often, especially at chains, you’ll find some tofu or grilled veg options for the herbivores. However, at Bomba they have like five choices, all of which sound delicious, not as an afterthought for the sake of diversity.
I tried the charred kale and corn, with some grape tomatoes inside, which was downright delicious. The mushroom was less so. It was just a few lonely stripes of mushroom and a little goat cheese. When I finished the meal, what amazed me was not only how good it tasted, but also how healthy it felt. Too often, with Mexican food, all the rice and beans and melted cheese filled me up too much, in a slightly sickly way. I found out that they offer lunch specials, three tacos for $ 9.99, so I’ll definitely be back for that, as there are so many varieties I want to try out. Otherwise, the tacos are $ 3.50 or $ 4.50 each.
Needless to say, their rum menu is long, with over 50 options, many you can get as a taster for $ 2.50 or more. There are also rum flights, and a smaller but varied list of beer, wine and cocktail.

In Aladdin, there were many suitors who tried to win Princess Jasmine’s hand in marriage. Some of these princes used magic, others used parades but none of these tricks worked on her. If only there had been a Bomba Taco in Agrabah. Aladdin could’ve simply brought her a slow braised duck taco and saved those genie wishes for a better mode of transportation than a moody carpet.
There are few tacos places in South Florida that can handle what Bomba brings to the table. Their lunch special is straight awesome. $ 10 for 3 tacos and a side. Such a good deal considering each of these tacos are fat and filled with delicious ingredients. My favorite taco I’ve had so far was the chorizo and potato taco. Hot sauce! Smoky AIoli! Goat Cheese! Praise Allah! It will take you a couple of visits to try all the unique and flavorful tacos available.
Bomba Tacos gets 5 Taco Flavored Wishes out of 5. I’ve been looking for my go to taco spot for a while and I think I’ve finally found it. For now I’d say these are the best tacos in the entire Hallandale/​Hollywood area. Definitely for the Booty!

First time I came it was for happy hour and JT was our server extraordinaire! He recommended great tacos and provided great service. 2^nd time around no different, we say with JT and he made sure we were taken care of!

Great place to hang with family & friends! It was a Saturday night & it seemed really busy but thankfully there was no wait. We sat on the outside patio & enjoyed the view of the christmas lights. The hostess was so sweet & very funny. I forgot her name but it was the one with long straight hair & beautiful smile. She took our drink order & answered our million questions about the menu and things that she recommended.
Loved the crispy shrimp tacos & the brisket taco is to die for! I also ordered the pork tostones they were super delicioso! My family enjoyed their food selections. Our waiter was so great to us & very attentive. The hostess also checked on us periodically when she had a chance. I will defenitively come back next weekend & I hope to get the same crew. Even the manager stopped by our table. What a nice touch.

Came here for lunch on weekday. This is a great spot for lunch! They have $ 9.95 lunch specials that will fill you up. I had the three taco platter with adobo fries. The fries were alright, nothing to rave about. The tacos were very good! I had the spicy shrimp and crispy shrimp tacos, both had good flavor. The brisket taco was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend you try that one out.
Our server was very nice and attentive. It was fairly empty but I can imagine this will change once the word gets out!
