Dehart Dam used to be one of the best places to spend a lazy summer afternoon. There’s a lovely park up there at the foot of the reservoir, you have to walk over the dam to get to it. Excellent views of the lake… I had a LOT of fun there as a kid. Sadly, inasmuch as it IS the reservoir for the whole city, they’ve been forced to close down the park. You’re not allowed back there anymore.

It has a normal surface area of 592 acres. It is owned by The Harrisburg Authority. Dehart, also known as Clarks Valley Reservoir is of earthen construction. Its height is 105 feet with a length of 2000 feet. Its capacity is 30800 acre feet. Normal storage is 23700 acre feet. It drains an area of 21.3 square miles.
