The staff were all really nice people. Whats cool about this place is that you get cute little vouchers for free shaved ice with your purchase ! I mean, who does that ?! I felt they made everyone that visited their shop feel welcomed, and they seemed to be genuinely hospitable and caring. My family and I were also paddle boarding and ended up losing our gopro at the last minute. It dropped right to the bottom of the lake with only a few feet to get to the end(!!!) and they made it very obvious that they were sorry for our lost camera. They took down our information and assured us that they’d contact us if they [ever] found it. The guy with the long hair, I believe his name was Benny(?), was super awesome. He tried to provide us scuba goggles so that we’d be able to swim and see under the dark water… But no luck :(Anyway, I couldnt thank him and the staff enough. They are a good team and made our visit pretty amazing, even with a lost gopro. Mahalo guys !!!

I’ve been here 3 times for SUP and each time their service was great. I usually pay $ 20 for 2 hours. They don’t start the clock until you get into the water. The guys there give great instructions for first timers. They will even hold onto your car keys! This is my go to spot until I buy my own board.

Very friendly staff. We walked in to the wrong spot when we arrived and instead of pointing is to the correct spot the Guy walked us to where we needed to be. We walked in and had to fill out liability forms and were then off to the launch site. Paddle board rental is $ 15 an hour. This site is right along the river so there’s no dragging the boards or kayaks anywhere. The guys help you load launch as well as provide you an overview of what you can and can’t do. The river is a calm great spot to learn how to SUP. We bring our visitors here so they can get the experience and see some sea turtles as well. Did I mention that before? We’ve been here numerous times and the turtles always greet us along the way.

Our number one spot to take visiting friends and family paddle boarding. The staff is super nice and helpful. Their launch point allows for easy access to the ocean or a calm river. We always see turtles in the river both in the water and on the bank.

Wow, wish I had read all the reviews before coming to this place. Sounds like it’s not just us that had this trick pulled on us. We rented two longboards($ 7.00/board for first hour, $ 6.00 for second hour). Perfectly reasonable. They gave us the leashes and showed us how to strap the boards onto the top of our SUV. Everything seemed okay until we came back and returned our boards. We dropped them off, one of the employees gave us the«everything’s good» and we were on our merry way. Or so we thought…15−20 minutes later, get a voicemail from another employee that we made a dent in one of the boards and that they’ll charge us if we don’t come back or call. We’re eating lunch so we drive back afterwards and find out that they’ve already charged us $ 40.00 for the damage. This is BEFORE we even had a look at it. We see there is a small dent but there’s no way we could have spotted it as a) we’re amateur surfers and b) the board was completely covered with wax. A different employee that is fixing it is pretty skeptical about us doing it but obviously, he’s not going to say anything in front of the boss. Technically, even with the contract we signed, we shouldn’t have been charged because they signed off on the board being okay when we returned it. But guess this is how they handle their business. Do yourself a favour and AVOID like the plague! Or else make sure you mark down every little dinky scratch on the board before you rent it. Otherwise, prepare to get screwed. Also, no rash guards to borrow or rent.

My friend and I wanted to go paddle boarding and didn’t want to take the lesson up the Anahulu river. They were super chill and because it wasnt a busy day seemed like we had the river to ourselves. Totally walked us through all the steps and kept our bags safe while we went up the river. It had rained the day before so it wasnt as clear as I know it can be bit it was so calm and relaxing on the river it was perfect. A lil bit of a workout on the way up but when you finally turn around you just kinda floated with the current… heaven!!! Even go to see closeup some of the turtles!

Bronson was awesome! I was just planning to rent a SUP while my wife and toddler soon waited for me, but Bronson suggested that all three of us go out together in a kayak instead. I’m glad he did because that was way better. Very affordable and friendly – the free shaved ice at the end was a great way too end the hour.

Bronson & the boys in the SUP hut — should get 10 stars instead of these 5 stars… we got there and were getting set up with SUP stuff and a small tourist bus pulled up & one of the boys from the SUP hut called in sick last minute so Bronson & the other guy with the half sleeve tats — were awesome!!! Tourists started bitching & complaining because they all want to get into the water at the same time — 20 people — really??? They were being ridiculous so we just kicked back & watched these guys roll like a well oiled machine & get them all out there in the water quick as hell… nice job boys… even I aaas tired of hearing them complain ugh… We came back twice after that since we were there for 12 days… DONT go anywhere else on the North Shore for SUP& surf stuff — these guys are a class act. Lucky I dont have a business up there I’d hire those guys in a second… except the guy who called in sick that day hahaha… Mahalo Nui boys until next trip…

Great surf/rental shop. Their Prices are more than fair. They’re located in the heart of Haleiwa with a dock right on the Anahulu river so there’s no carrying or transporting equipment. You just paddle right out and can go up the river or out into the harbor/ocean, or both. To boot, you get a free shaved ice upon return of the rental equipment. Their parking lot is small, but there is free parking across the street if you get there early enough. We arrived at 10:30 am and there was plenty of parking. We’ll definitely be renting from here again.

This place is awesome! Definitely recommend coming here over Surf and Sea across the street! A lot cheaper AND it comes with a free shave ice with a rental or lesson! :D I came here with my friend to take her out-of-town guests SUP boarding and it was just $ 20 for 2 hours($ 15 for 1st hr & $ 5 each additional). The staff were all pretty friendly and pretty quick considering there were a bunch of people that came to rent as we came in. The only thing is that it was kinda hard to find where to go for the rentals… basically just go to the shack with all the boards and then after the paperwork they’ll tell you to go to the surf shop next door to pay. The launch spot that they have is pretty convenient too, it’s like a little dock right behind the bridge. You can either go up the river(which was a slight mysterious green color) or go out into the ocean side. The river was a pretty good route for us since we were all newbies(plus we saw a few turtles too). If you’re going for a few hours, I definitely recommend wearing a long-sleeved rash guard, unless you’re looking to get a little tanner. The shave ice afterwards was a nice touch :) The flavors I tried were all pretty good, the ice itself was alright. Not like Kokonuts or Waiola, but it hit the spot! ^_^

Service is excellent. We rented 3 SUPs and didn’t know how long we were going to be out. We paid for an hour and said we would pay for any extra time when we returned. They were like ‘sure, it’s all good.’ We ended up paddling around for almost 2 hours. I wanted to pay for the extra time, and they were like ‘no, you’re all good, bro.’ That and the free shave ice, you’ve got my business every time I return to the north shore.

Awesome spot to rent a paddle board. $ 15 per hour. Paddle up a lazy river with huge green sea turtles swimming around you. Or paddle out into the bay. Staff is super nice and chill. No complaints. Parking is in a small lot across the street.

This place was awesome. We have rented stand up paddle boards from the place across the street a couple of times and tropical rush beats them hands down. Their staff is crazy friendly and helpful. The boards are better. Their instruction was better. Their launch spot was better. And to top it all off they were cheaper! The free shave ice at the end was a bonus! We will definitely come back here!

I moved to Honolulu about 2 months ago and wanted to get into Stand Up Paddle boarding. I hit all the spots in and around Honolulu. I drove up to Haleiwa last weekend and checked out Tropical Rush to just look around. All of the staff were very friendly asked if I needed any help. Once I got to the SUPs David came in and spent about 30 minutes talking about the different boards and styles. I checked out a few more places throughout the week and headed back to Tropical Rush to try out the boards. The place is right on the river in Haleiwa which makes it easy to try multiple boards in a short amount of time without having to drive back and forth. After riding several different boards I decided on a Blue Planet. David again was very helpful and attentive. I enjoyed a shave ice while David prepared the board then paddled around for hours of enjoyment. I can’t say enough about the customer service and support at Tropical Rush. It’s worth checking out if your in the market for a SUP or surfboard. They also have the best rental prices on island.

My girl friend took several of us to their Shave Ice stand, most don’t even know of it’s existence, but I have to say they have friendly service, they take card — but you have to pay for it in the shop, and it’s cheap. Prices go for $ 2 for a small, $ 2.50 for a medium, and $ 3 for a large. If you want the add-ons of li hing mui, ice cream, or condensed milk they are all 50 cents each. While they are friendly and service is good. Their flavors are something else. I ordered the lychee and mango flavors and I have to say, while they’re not as sweet as other syrups. They lacked flavor. I rather thought the lychee flavor I ordered tasted something like watered down cotton candy and the mango was watered down passion fruit. I don’t know if I will ever go back, but I might try it again with different flavors. I have been to other stands where the flavors are strong, not too sweet, and actually taste like the flavor they’re supposed to be. I threw on some li hing mui at last minute, and it was the only way I managed to eat as much as I did.

This place is great. Definitely one of the better places to rent stuff on the island because of their low prices, great costumer service, and wonderful options and store. The surf board was only $ 20 for the whole day unlike Waikiki and other parts of the island that are $ 20 an hour. The staff were absolutely great! They were super laid back but very helpful at the same time. They also had awesome options for everything. I definitely recommend this place!
