Drove by this place and turned around to check it out. I would classify this place as a diamond in the rough. This is real deal Mexican cooking with a great variety. Been here 3 times in a week, breakfast once buffet twice. The buffet is very clean and there are staples but they change up the entrees with no disappointment. The portions are generous and delicious. Pico de gallo is the best we’ve ever had flavors are perfectly layered. Lots of good Mexican spices in the grocery and I would suggest taking home some chorizo from the meat case. I grilled it and it was great. The owner is cordial and the staff pleases. You’ll not be disappointed.

As a recent newbie to the area, we found out about El Ranchito from some locals. Have been back multiple times and tried items off the menu and off the buffet and have not been disappointed with either. The service is top notch, they’re always willing to explain(to those of us who don’t speak Spanish) what each item is and help make a good choice. They aim to please and prepare the food the way you want it. We’ve taken several visitors there and all were pleased. One couple did comment, «if I pulled up to a place like this, she would have told me to keep driving!», but they enjoyed the authentic atmosphere and we came away with very full bellies. I didn’t think I liked Mexican food until we found this place — I’ve been converted!

Fuimos a comer el Domingo pasado, yo pedi los camarones a la diabla y dos tacos de carne asada, mi esposa pidio el caldo de res y para mi hijo pedimos una torta de jamon, excelente sabor y servicio tambien, nada de esperar una hora para comer, la verdad que si prefiero manejar una hora de Tampa para Haines City cuando tenga ganas de comida mexicana, so whoever does not read Spanish, let me tell you that this is the real deal

I stopped in at noon on a January 31, 2014. I look for the mom and pop joints and outward appearances don’t concern me. Suffice it to say it’s a mercado with comida caliente. The mercado had the complete compliment of vegetables and there’s a butcher on premises. The atmosphere was superbly Mexican complete with sombreros, 25 or so Mexican hombres, a juke box with what I guess were the latest hits and a slight leak over the third booth. I ordered off of the steam table from a pleasant attractive young woman who understood English, but if you want to read the menu you need to have a handle on Spanish. The meals were in the $ 8 range. I ordered spicy pork in a verde sauce with red beans and rice and pico de gallo. It comes with about 8 corn tortilla. The food is the real McCoy and out of this world. Outside the mercado it states«buffet» but I don’t know if it’s all-you-can-eat, I didn’t need seconds.
