Rocky’s New York Pizza

Yumm !!!
They make thin delicious pizzas (the kinds where you can fold them in half to eat). You could buy them in slices or as a whole pizza. It didn’t take more than 15minutes for our order of 3 different slices, salad, and garlic bread knots to come out.
We got the garlic bread knots with Mariners sauce which where delicious !!! They come in orders of 6 or 12. They are prob smaller than the size of your fist. And they’re so addicting. It was easy for us to finish these and all our food :)
It’s a pretty small facility and is pretty old school. Seems like a mom and pop kind of shop, but it also makes me feel like I’m near the beach.
Fountain drinks are given to you, so I don’t know how the refill works … Or if you have to pay for it.
It seemed like most people were either getting boxes to take out, or came in for a pick up.
Yummy! Would def return if I was back in the area!

Better than average pizza, but markedly worse than on previous visits. I have to amend my earlier review or else pizza experts from up North will doubt my judgment and revoke my Yankee passport. Trust me, it *used to* be good… now, I’m not so sure.

I will preface this review by stating that I’m originally from NJ and have eaten more pizza than I could ever count from there and NY. I know what good pizza is. I’ve also eaten at lots of places outside the NY/​NJ area that call their pizza New York or New York style pizza, and they don’t even come close to the mark. Rocky’s New York Pizza doesn’t fall into that category.
We’ll come back to the pizza though in just a little bit. First, let me tell you about the joint itself. When I walked in, I was instantly hit with nostalgia. Rocky’s has that dive pizzeria look nailed; that look like the interior hasn’t been updated in decades. I was instantly reminded of old school pizza joints from when I was a kid on the Jersey shore. Some people might rate them lower for their appearance, but not me. I like divey pizza joints. I’d much rather a pizzeria focus on their food than on fancy décor.
The service was tremendous. I was instantly waited on by a bubbly young female working behind the counter. She was quick to offer their current specials right up front, and she was great about answering any questions I had. The young man who checked me out was also super courteous. Even if the pizza ended up a bust, I’d still go back and try something else just for that customer service experience.
Now to the star of any pizza joint, the pizza. What can I say? It was phenomenal. After one bite, I knew I had found my regular pizza joint. The crust, was perfect. As a firm believer that the water up north has a lot to do with the taste and texture of NY pizza crust, I think it’s hard to reproduce it exactly outside of that region. Rocky’s gets as close as you can without actually trucking in water from NY. The crust was also perfectly cooked. It wasn’t overdone and it wasn’t doughy, with just a little bit of crunch (like god crusty bread; not like a cracker).
The pizza wasn’t super greasy which lets me know that Rocky’s isn’t using cheap cheese. A cheese pizza that is super greasy is a sign of cheaper mozzarella being used (it is made with more oil than milk). The sauce was also perfect. I want to try some toppings next time, but I judge a place best by their plain (cheese) pies.
All in all, I couldn’t be more pleased with Rocky’s New York Pizza. I will definitely be going back soon.

Best pizza in HAG hands down! I go there at least twice a month and they always remember me. Busy place so order early and give them time to do it right. You won’t be disappointed!

I love this place! Best subs ever! Steak and cheese works and chicken parm are amazing! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. FYI — they are CASH ONLY. and it says it right on the door when you walk in, there’s an ATM across the street from the store if you need cash. They also will not serve you if you walk up to the counter while on your cell phone, there’s a sign next to the register that states it. I love that! They are all about respect and its really disrespectful if you cant even give a cashier your full attention. Can be crowded around dinner times too, but still worth it!

Best pizza I’ve had in the Hagerstown area. It’s nothing crazy special, and it’s on the higher end of price when it comes to pizza, but it’s good.

The food is great. Really taste like NY pizza. They only take cash but it is worth the run to the ATM.

Be sure to go to the Rocky’s on South Potomac street! This is absolutely the very best pizza joint in the Hagerstown/​Tri-​state area!!! The calzone with pepperoni and italian sausage with a side of sauce is great! The steak and cheese with the works is also the best! Make sure you also ask for pepperoni on the steak and cheese!
They have a great special-​2 large 1 topping pizzas for $ 19.99. I order mine with pepperoni and itaian sausage. You can’t find better pizza anywhere!!! My favorite!
This place has been around for over 30 years and there’s a reason they have been around so long, they have great food for a great price!!!

Outstanding Cheesesteak! They even toast the bread in the oven. I will try the pizza next time I come in.
The moment you enter the restaurant you are greeted by either the owner Frank, one of his two kids working there, or by one of their friends who work for Frank. It is a complete family operation! By he staff are always super friendly and always smiling. They are sure to remember who you are so the second time you visit, you are created by name.
This place is full of regulars and first timers. Frank runs one hell of a place and I would recommend it to all. He is on top of it all the time. He’s a hands on owner. He even cleans up the tables.
Remember to bring two things when you come. A large appetite since portions are large and bring cash. No credit cards or debit cards accepted.

What can I say. NY pie. I was in NY last week and had a few slices. I was jonesing for more when I got home so we went to Rocky’s. It was better than NY! I was floored. For displaced NYers, we are blessed to have this place nearby.

I’ve ordered pizza from here about 3 times. The pizza is the best in the area that I’ve tried so far. I’m originally from New York, so I know good pizza when I taste it. It’s not exactly like a typical New York pizza, I think its still on the smaller side, but overall it has good flavor and isn’t too thick.

Really solid New York style pizza and great customer service! I recently came here with my whole family — there were nine of us — for a late lunch. The place was pretty crowded for 2 pm, but there were two large tables pushed together which gave us enough room to all fit together.
We ordered two large pies and a few sides, and when discussing drink options, they told us it would be more economical for us to grab a few two liters rather than buying nine individual drinks. They even provided us all with cups and ice, which was a nice gesture. The pepperoni pizza and veggie pizzas we ordered were delicious, and we even had some leftover to take with us.
Highly recommend for both the food and the excellent customer service!

Great pizza, atmosphere was great owner talks to his customers very welcoming. Makes you feel appreciated and is very proud of his pizza. Tasted it and agree real good quality if your in the Hagerstown area strongly recommend a stop here. Good peoples, good food.

Stopped here for pizza when passing through the area. The pizza was good. My 4 stars are for the pizza. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the facility was unsettling. I would give it only 1 star for that.

Great service. Very good pizza. Nice big slices and tastes like authentic Italian. We got hand tossed. They also have garlic, oregano, and Parmesan to shake on top. Decent prices. Nice full menu. Cash only. No restroom.

Love this place. Most of all they offer delivery! While at my hotel, they would brig me lunch. I’ve had their pizza, children’s spaghetti, nachos, garlic bread… They are all good!

Unilocal led me to Rocky’s this past weekend. Pizza was just right, not too thick crust and lots of cheese! Fries were pretty good and the side salad was great! I like salad with fun tidbits on it, and this one had lots to munch on.
As you have probably read, no credit. This place was jumping, super busy inside, and sounded like they were sending out deliveries back to back.

This is where locals hang out, if Cheers was a pizza place then this would be it. Greetings to regular customers on this busy Friday lunch came think & fast.
The pizza was great. Beautiful taste to the crust, the right mount of chewiness & the whole having to bend it in two due to droopage. Creaminess to the cheese & the right amount of zetiness in the sauce. Yep this is the place to get your New York style pizza.
The place doesn’t take cards! Unusual in this day & age. But the policy doesn’t seem to be hurting their business.

My attention was grabbed when I heard the guy behind the counter say, «are you sure that is good?» I look over and see a young woman holding a half gallon of milk. She says, «yea!» The guy says, «are you sure?» She lifts the container to her nose and sniffs… two times. After a long pause she says, «yea, it’s good», and pours the milk into whatever she was making. She says out loud, «milk lasts a long time.» A minute before I witnessed the young man making my pizza submerge his bare hand into the jalapeño jar to grab a few peppers. I did not get a good impression of the cleanliness or food handling practices of this place.
The pizza itself was pretty good. Tasty crust! Mushrooms were canned, which was a great disappointment.

Friendly service & good pizza ;-) Great hand tossed pizza!!! This place has about 11 tables for family sit down. We were from out of town camping near by and will definitely come back. Plenty of parking side & back. A little history w 3 Rocky’s in-​town, all used to owned by one guy, since been sold to different owners. Not all Rocky’s are the same. Cash only w ATM across the street.
