This place just keeps me coming back. Between the staff, the food and the prices! The eggs Benedict is the best I’ve ever had… And I eat A LOT of Benedict all over the map. This place takes the gold medal. The hollandaise is so good that I order an extra side of it to put on my home fries. Also the butter milk pancakes here are UNBELIEVABLE. This place never disappoints.

This is our second time to eat breakfast here. Both were good food, good service, and inexpensive. Highly recommend!

This place is also listed as Stables Restaurant– check there for recent reviews. Very strange experience overall. Walked in and wanted to sit at the bar but my husband and i were ushered to a table near a window. The waitress asked coffee? and my husband said yes and she brought 2 out a few mins later. I’m 6 months pregnant and can’t have coffee, and we told her sorry, but we had only asked for one. I asked for a water which was never brought out. About 5 mins later, she looped back around to take our order. I had blueberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs. Still no water. I asked a different server for a water and they didnt bring me one– I guess they just let the waitress know. I actually went out to the car and grabbed a bottle of water that I had been drinking earlier in the day to drink with my meal. I felt shunned for her mistake in bringing coffee to a pregnant lady that didnt order one. As for the food, the pancakes were completely undercooked. It looked like the person cooking forgot it had blueberries in it and threw them in after it had started cooking because they were all plopped in the center and not connected to the rest of the pancake. They were also small, frozen blueberries, so I ended up just eating around the blueberry pile in the center. The hubs ordered ham, eggs, toast, and hashbrowns, and his rye toast was probably the best thing out of our two dishes. The waitress brought us our check and never returned. Meal came to about $ 19. I saw her grab signed credit card slips from tables before folks had left(rude!) so it’s possible that her shift was over and she left for the day. After a 10 min wait for her to come back to us, we ended up leaving cash on the table and walking out. Although confusing at first, their«cold coffee, bad food, lousy service» logo actually makes a lot more sense to me after dining here. Definitely won’t be giving this place another shot.

I had the best brunch here yesterday. The waiters/waitresses were super friendly. Took our orders promptly and it was out within 10 minutes. I got 2 eggs with home fries and bacon. Just wonderful. It was cooked the exact way I like it. Kudos to them. I’ll be going back. Highly recommended!!!

The best breakfast place in the area. Clean, great service, and their coffee«amazing». If your really hungry get the«Starving College Boy» a classic in the UMass community.

On the way out of town for a long, long drive. The signage was good and promoted their country style food. Cold coffee & lousy service were just a couple of their best assets featured on their TShirts. I told the guy, I bet that packs ‘em in, & he proceeded to tell us how packed the place actually gets, ad nauseum. I think there is a lot of Unilocaly hype going on here because the place is very overrated. This food is nothing special and the higher level of stars is coming from the overall experience. The service is very friendly & attentive without hovering. Now, as for the food. Well, I had the tuna salad which came on a bed of iceberg lettuce. OK, that’s pretty much strike 3 right there. The only other thing on that whole plate was a few tomato slices. The dish was rounded out with a bowl of cottage cheese. Now, I love cottage cheese but I be like, what? If your intent is a heap of SAD(Standard American Diet) then have at it here because that’s about what you get. It’s a warm, friendly, & inviting place and that part you’ll love. As for the food, I can get what I want at home.

We just ate at Stables last week for the first time. It was very good. The food tasted fresh and it was well prepared. We both got eggs benedict and they were delicious. The hollandaise sauce had a good flavour and was not too tart and the coffee was decent. We will likely go there more now that we know. The proceedure for getting in to this little restaurant is a bit like waiting in line for lunch at school. You don’t give your name, you just stand in line. That would be the only thing that I didn’t like about it, but that probably wont change my mind about going there in future.

Our new favorite breakfast place! We both had the corned beef and eggs special, $ 5.95 got three large, super-delicious hunks of corned beef, yummy eggs and delicious home fries. Good coffee too! We win!

We just ate at Stables this morning. This restaurant feels very comfortable and the food was delicious. It is a great value for the price and the service was quick and friendly. The only negative is it can get loud when parties are waiting to be seated. The waiter seemed to have a lot of people and I finished my coffee before he refilled it and he gave us our food and check immediately. It would have been nice to have someone going around just filling coffee. The food was great and service was okay. Overall, a nice place to get a delicious meal that is reasonably priced meal.

Lots of country charm and cheap food. But lots and lots of bugs! Ants crawling on our table and one was buried in our sugar container. Waitresses seemed nice enough, but this place is definitely not up to code.

Their buttermilk pancakes are light, fluffy, and big; exactly what pancakes should be. Very reasonably priced for three large pancakes. We were seated and served quickly, the staff was polite, and the food was good. It’s a very low-key, no frills place; perfect for when you want a simple, inexpensive, homey breakfast.

I went to Stables yesterday for a late breakfast and sat at the counter. I was disappointed based on the expectations from the reviews on Unilocal. I ordered: 3 eggs over, home fries, cinnamon swirl bread, Corn Bread French Toast. The eggs were done right. The home fries(no thanks thumbs down !!) were cut up pieces of potato left on the griddle for 4 hrs and dried out, I would have enjoyed dehydrated more! No flavor, no seasoning added, & no onion or pepper bits that can make home fries a home run. The house made bread«cinnamon swirl» was a nice touch but I wasn’t told when the bread choices were being offered that it was $ 1. more(don’t like that). The corn bread french toast was nothing special just a slice of corn bread, under-dipped(soaked) in egg batter and griddled. With it being under dipped, it was much like plain old corn bread, just griddled and dry. I looked at the meals the folks to my right & left were eating and they looked OK, nothing special. Very Inexpensive, so yeah if you are on a budget go with expectations of average. Waitress was super super friendly and attentive despite not mentioning the up charge!

I’m not at all pleased that I had to rate this place even one star!!! My husband and I went there this morning and let me tell You… we walked in the door and we weren’t even acknowledged by any of the staff! Strike 1, then we were sat with out even a hello from the staff strike 2, we ordered our breakfast and saw it sit in the window waiting to be delivered to our very hungry stomachs in which the cook came out to deliver it to us! When we received our food our waitress was no where to be found and we were in lack of butter for our pancakes as well as maple syrup and ketchup, when we finally found her my husband asked her politely for the 3 things we needed and she had the GALL to roll her eyes at us!!! STRIKE3!!! I wouldn’t ever go back on that alone but on top of the poor service was the horrible bland food with the watered down maple syrup… I just want to say I’m in the food service industry and I would NEVER treat a customer the way we were treated this morning! So all I can say is go at your own risk and I hope you don’t receive the treatment my husband and I got! 4 thumbs down for Stables!!!

Cash only breakfast on Rt. 9 with reasonable prices and great portions. Stables gets crowded during weekends around 10am, but you should be able to tell how long the wait is from the street. The Blizzard and AJ’s Grilled Cheese are phenomenal options but the Farmer’s Daughter and Starving College boy are sick too.

It’s hard to mess up breakfast but Stables managed to do it. The wife said the cinnamon swirl french toast was okay, and the breakfast meats were passable. The real culprit, I think, was bad/old oil. The homefries and the eggs just tasted off, and we barely touched them. There are other breakfast places in the area that we’ll hit up next time.

Stables was a major part of my life when I lived in Amherst. Where else can you get a great breakfast on a student budget? On the rare occasions when we could get a car, my friends and I would hustle out to Stables to relax and unwind. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the crowd is happy. What more could you want at breakfast?

Sorry, Stables but I don’t think you’re as great as everyone says. The food is pretty standard breakfast fare although I have to admit that the homemade toast is great. Our waitress messed up both my boyfriend’s and my order and gave me an attitude when I told her there’d been a mistake(my order was completely different from what she wrote down.) Yeah, it’s not too expensive but I could make this stuff at home.
