Portion is huge, me got extra content of a baby ant and two little bugs in the soup. I get it ppl don’t see the bugs because they are actually tiny and with the dim lighting inside, unless you pay extremely close attention, you won’t see. How i find out? I order to go, and with brighter lighting in my house, i see those tiny dots floating on the soup. Yes, i see the tiny legs on the dots. And good luck for ppl who visit there often.

The cold dishes were good as usual. The place was a little crowded with a tour group eating… and a little bit noisy for sure, OK maybe a lot noisy. We ordered some sizzling beef, pork with string beans and some noodles with beef. Arghhhhh!!! WOW! So salty, everything was salty!!! OMG so bad today, the cook needs to be fired. I’m gonna need a serious break from here for a long time. I got tea for my troubles but too bad I’m not a ice tea guy.

We had a great experience and meal here. My husband traveled a lot last year to China. He was craving some good authentic Schezwan some good hot kind with lots of chilies !! We ate some amazing choices. We had the cold noodles that I ordered because(I read it was great on a previous persons Unilocal) We had a hot pot tofu dish, some lamb ribs, wonton soup, some traditional veggie lo main. We had teenagers with us too. Everyone was satisfied with the flavor presentation and choices. The restaurant then filled up with Chinese tourists. Good too see they needed a taste of home too! I was glad we stopped in it was fantastic. My husband said the food Tasted like it does in China.

I’m really glad I didn’t read any reviews before eating here yesterday, as I was invited here by family, who were celebrating the life of a grandparent who recently died, and who apparently really liked this restaurant, so it would have been quite rude to tell my dad, on second thought, can we not? But I think if I’d seen numerous descriptions of insects and/or worms in peoples’ food, I might have anyway… I did not, however, personally, experience anything remotely like that. In fact, I have to say, the food was quite good. It wasn’t so amazing that I would go out of my way to come back(especially since it’s a few blocks away from quite possibly the best AYCE sushi place in SoCal), but I had no complaints either. I’m not nearly as much of an expert in authentic Chinese food as some other things, but it definitely felt not-overly-Americanized to me. Notably, some of the best sweet-and-sour shrimp I’ve had, because it *wasn’t* overly sickly sweet like you usually get, and actually had flavor other than just sugar. Service was great, too, even though you could tell the majority of the people there could probably read the Chinese menu, and we were a bunch of super-white people who clearly couldn’t. :p

Good for the cold spicy side dishes! I always see people order to go for the food! They make the spicy boiled fish very well! I was impressed by how much food they give you. They are also known for their soup noodles or their dan Dan mien! Either way it’s a solid spicy Chinese restaurant!

Special Note you; when you check out this meal must see their list whether they secretly added a tip not notice. For the first time to eat, feel the air go bad, the food quality in general, finally asked a waitress brought checkout a handwritten list, then we find that they actually own a calculation does not make any call directly to the tip added to the ! Fortunately, I figured note, or give a double tip! This made clear that cheater! Where is the integrity of business! After not go back!

really nice décor, not crowded, food is pretty standard for a yunnan restaurant, pig intestine dry pot and pork belly with garlic are my go-tos. their 3 item cold platter takeout is HUGE. the monterey park yunnan garden use a square styro box for your choice of three savory items and the hacienda location uses a RECTANGULAR box. I recommend, spousal chopped lungs, pig face skin, and the preserved pepper chicken feet. don’t be afraid by the fact most of these are organs, from the non-chinese, ive heard that they taste like lunch meats, spicy delicious lunch meats, with differing textures, pig ears has a nice crunch of the cartilage etc. the service is actually really attentive, and they carry old beijing yogurt

This used to be my favorite place for yunnan noodles… their menu item #1 was the best. Unfortunately, when I went again two days ago… After 1⁄3 of the meal, I found a bug in my soup. One would have been alright to overlook, however, my girlfriend who had the same thing found over 4 bugs in her soup noodles. After I told the waiter they didnt even bother to say anything about it so we just left. The bugs look like little flies with spider legs(lots of legs). Yunnan food… known for their excessive use of fried chili, this is the place to be for a cheap meal. The cold dishes are a must try. Choose 3 of the many cold dishes they have for $ 6. I like the spicy pork ear, seaweed, spicy pork and chicken neck. But mix and match and have fun, because everything here is pretty yummy! — Prices are fair. — Service is okay. — Self-seating I definitely recommend getting the hot and sour pork noodle soup. This is a must try! I think it’s only $ 6.25(:

Price is fair. Cold dishes for around 5 – 6 dollars. Noodles are pretty big portion. I usually can only finish half. Service is just OK. Just be careful on what you order. One time I ordered spicy chicken noodle. It was just too oily that I couldn’t really it and felt sick after. But overall the food here is decent. Easy and good when it’s so close to work.

Cheap food, taste good, but slow service. This place is usually empty so getting a table is not an issue, but getting service you’ll need to be aggressive in calling the waitress to come over to make an order.

Since my 2013 visits in the previous review I have ventured onto such dishes as the freid rice and the dry beef fried rice(without the chili). Pictures to come. Every time we are seated we receive warm tea, cool water and the essentials. Service was always been great. I will change my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. THEYHAD A FRICKINSPIDERINMYSOUP! The waitress kept coming up with excuses as to why there are bugs in the soup and how its supposed to be there. Seriously?! AND the waitress was EXTREMELY rude as to why we dont want to finish our noodle soup! I have pics on here to show the spider! My grandma is now SICK after eating there. The health department needs to go check it out!!!

Yunnan/Sichuan food you say? Hmm… What’s funny is that my old man hails from Yunnan and I’m not the biggest fan of the food because it’s not super carby. A lot of tendons, organs, and the food tasted kinda bland to me. The only thing I enjoyed from that evening was the DANDAN Noodles. As a matter of fact, I got 2 bowls. It might be right up your alley but not my cup of tea. Big ups to the J Yang Crew, Yvette, Joyce, and Brian.

Cold dishes are a must try. I really like the tofu, pork tendon, and beef shank thing. You can also have some rice and eat them together. So far I’ve tried their yunnan special noodle and they bring it to your table with all the meat, soup, and noodles separate and then dump it in. I really like this type of noodle so I enjoyed this a lot. There was one meat that was kind of questionable because it was pink so I asked what it was and the waitress looked at me and said«meat!». Lol. Turns out it was smoked pork or something. Soup and noodles are good. I can pass on the dry assorted meat. Hot and sour noodle is yummy but the oils are overpowering. Those extra chilis floating around don’t seem to add flavor so they should leave it out instead of me having mouthfuls of weird texture when I’m just trying to eat noodles. Eggplant dish seemed tasty but I’m not a fan of eggplants. And the morning glory veggies were alright. I’ll be back to try more noodle dishes.

Spicy food heaven for those who can endure mouth numbing spices! My mom loves coming here for the spicy food. She especially loves the fish and veggie dish which comes drenched in a huge pot of chili oil and chili peppers. It looks extremely scary to eat, but its really not too bad and because its so tasty you actually want to eat more of it. The spices they use are mouth numbing spicy so be prepared for your mouth to go numb after a couple bites of food. This dish is especially appetizing paired with white rice. The cold dishes are also a staple at this restaurant from the seaweed, tofu, and thinly spiced meat. For those who want something non-spicy I would recommend the noodle soup with bean curd and scallions. I also have to mention that the décor of this restaurant looks over the top CHINESE! The place from the floor to the ceiling is covered with authentic Chinese patterns and designs. You feel as if you are walking into one of those ancient Chinese imperial palaces. On an average night, you can find yourself surrounded by mainland Chinese patrons all around you and since they cater more towards the Chinese crowd I would definitely recommend coming with someone who speaks Chinese to help with the language barrier. TIP* Parking available in the back of the restaurant since parking is very limited in the front.

My first time dinning here and I was fortunate to come in on a weekday and take advantage of the daily lunch special menu. Located parking in front but that’s full there’s another lot in the rear. The exterior is is dated but don’t let that intimate you BC the interior is clean, decorated pleasantly and eye appealing. I noticed they offered boil fish and reminisced my first experiencing this entrée in Beijing. At $ 7.95 the lunch special entrée contained generous amounts of fish and napa cabbage for a spicy party in my mouth. In addition, I ordered shrimp with spicy garlic sauce — overly salty in my opinion and an Ala carte order of lamb with scallions — tasty but I prefer cumin lamb I’ve experienced in the pass at another place verses this choice. If your into cold appetizers Yunnan Garden offers these at the front counter — view, select and the waitress will serve you for in house or take out dinning. Service from my waitress was friendly and she was intrigued with my pic taking for Unilocal postings! I’ll return here again and would recommend Yunnan Garden if ya enjoy spicy.
