This place reminiscent of the family run Mexican restaurants in the 60’s and 70’s. they simply are cooking the way they have always done generation after generation. Nothing fancy, nor will it be the top in Mexican cuisine, but it will be very good, and with excellent value. Great place.

Love this spot! Real authentic home cooked Mexican food. I recommend the fajitas chicken or beef. The taquitos are so delicious with so much flavor. The people are humble kind and very attentive. I will be here pretty often hope to see you.

I LOVETHISPLACE. They use the freshest ingredients and have great service. Mauricio is a cook, server and cashier here and every time I come, he offers Homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and makes me feel right at home. The Unparalleled service is just the cherry on top of this cozy, family run Mexican shop. May not look like much from the outside because it used to be an old school Taco Bell, but it’s hacienda heights best kept secret for authentic Mexican food!

Went once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both times were for togo and I called ahead for the breakfast. It’s a small place with limited staff so calling in is probably the best bet if you don’t plan to eat there. Some patience may be needed in case you need to wait for food. We tried the tacos and the enchilada for dinner. I am all for enchilada vs the tacos here. And my favorite is chicken vs carne asada and al pastor. Both meat are on the fatty and chewy side which I don’t prefer. But their ranchero sauce is amazing and enchilada was delicious! So I went back for breakfast. I called and asked for recommendations for dishes with chorizo or chicken. Chorizo dish was scrambled with eggs and came with tortillas on the side. The chicken dish had two fried eggs with chilequile type of green tortilla next to it. They were both delicious! Love the salsa too. The portion was large for the price we paid. Will definitely return for more :) thanks hacienda grill!

Dang, HH Unilocalers are tough customers! I’m giving 5 stars because they should be at a 4 star average instead of the 3.5 they have right now. BF ordered the chorizo quesadilla… so good. The guac was amazing! Savory and full bodied and just yum. I ordered the machaca con huevos and doused it with the spicy salsa that came with the chips. Also yum. BF says the beans tasted like what his grandma used to make. ONLY downside: There’s some awesome show on TV but they have the screen turned toward the kitchen. So we only get to hear the fun. Wah wah…

Their foods are very authentic. Rice and rice are what they are. Great chips, ok sauces. I like their chili relerenos. Others items are ok.

So this place has a four star only because it’s cheap! You get a ton for $ 6-$ 8 meals. Food is a little plain and the chips and salsa are low quality, but it’s a mom and pop shop and they do try. The tacos and enchiladas are great though, so definitely hit this place up if you don’t want to spend a lot and want to find a nice quite sit down.

Good food. Average prices. Bathrooms outside. No a.c. cold Mexican Coke hot, spicy, and fresh Menudo. Tender asada tacos.

Finally tried this place with bf. Ordered super burrito and cheese enchilada plate! the restaurant doesn’t have fancy decoration but if you are a fan of family style mexican food, this is the place. The staff was very very friendly and helpful, you just have to be a little bit more patient with them since they only have chief mama cooking in the back and one staff running all over the place to take order and serve ! I have tried several mexican restaurant near my house include la puente but think this one so far is my Favorite!! would recommend to people, reasonable price +home made taste Mexican food !!!

This review is for(3rd time) 11−21−14 roughly 6:30pm. The first visit was ok, second visit was blah, third visit well hey there Mr. Fly in my water and gnats flying around the super small table and bench. Super salty asada tacos but I came here again with hopes of finally making a breakthrough on the food but nope, not a chance. Hacienda Heights Mexican food — Taco Bell vs Hacienda Grill vs Del Taco? I’ll just wait until I get home. There’s less flies and gnats there.

Ate here several times, the food is good, I am amazed that the owner is the cook, the waiter, the dishwasher and the server all at the same time. And the fact that service was still fast. Not fine dinning but food is good.

This place is not too far from where I live. I would say, don’t judge a book by its cover. This place can easily be overlooked since it doesn’t appear too appealing on the outside and the plaza where the restaurant is located is not attractive either. However, I decided to try this place out since it was late and I was feeling for Mexican. I ordered a basic carne asada burrito. It took about 20 minutes for them to make my burritos. It looked like the restaurant was attached to a house and she literally cooked my food as if she was cooking from home. The burrito came out DELICIOUS! Probably, one of the best hole in the walls I’ve had in the area. Worth a try!

Food is 5⁄10. Meat is a bit dry and they use a microwave to reheat food. Chips are not very good. Other than that, everything else is good. They need to turn the air on also!

My mom stopped by yesterday to grab us dinner. We have never eaten there before and heard we should try it from relatives that have been there. So on her way home she stopped by. 1St thing she noticed was the door was open(friendly tip-whenever you see a clothing store or restaurant door open that means no air conditioning). So she figure shes taking it to go so it doesn’t matter. She walks in and no one is there. Its very hot in there and flies were everywhere~ the dining area, the kitchen etc. There was only one person working. He was the cook, the waiter, he was everything in one. While looking at the menu she felt rushed in ordering our food. When she noticed there were more flies in kitchen. She gave back the menu and sd never mind and walked out. My mom was so disgusted she wanted me to put this review. In her words«they don’t deserve that A grading !».

Awesome place, been going there for years. Best Mexican food in Hacienda with great prices. We recommend it to everyone. Take a drive to Hacienda and La Subida for some GREAT home made style Mexican food. Don’t be afraid if the workers are in back making their famous tamales. Have a seat and you will be well taken care of and very satisfied. PS: Their tamales are famous in Pasadena where they are sold every weekend !!!

I walk in to an almost empty restaurant at 1:30 and I wonder where everyone is. I sit down and am promptly brought chips that have the remnants of someone else’s food. I ordered a combination plate of a taco, chilie rellaño, and an enchilada with a side salad. The taco was a corn tortilla that was fried with oil dripping down it and was flavorless despite the shredded beef, lettuce, and cheese. The chilie rellaño was bland, way too much batter, paper thin chilie, soggy, and the cheese was like it was cooked then cooled then reheated rather than melty. The enchilada was just as bad. Cheese the same bad consistency, red sauce tasted like chili powder. Beans and rice were bad too. I know Mexican food, the only reason this place is still open is because its in the middle of a predominantly Asian community. Only other choices are Del Taco or Taco Bell. I do not recommend wasting your money here.

First-time visit. Ordered their large nachos to go. My nachos were covered with tons of sour cream & guacamole. Chips were fresh & crunchy. Although, not a whole lot of flavor it, it was however very filling. The fresh salsa did add some flare to it. I believe it was the owner who took my order. We chatted for a bit. His friendly demeanor was enough to make me want to go back and try out other items. Del Taco is down the street but for a buck or two more you can get some pretty quick and decent Mexican food.

I found myself dining out alot more than usual last week. My daily routine is about to change dramatically and I was frantically trying to organize everything that will get affected. So, anyway. We have not eaten mexican food for the longest time. So, I figure lets go back to the basics. Which means, I’m going where its familiar to my palate. I would’ve driven out to Los Sanchez in Whittier but I was too lazy. I would’ve preferred Casablanca but thats the ex’s spot :/So, I decided Hacienda Grill:) It has been years since I last ate here. I like the place because they offer simple combo dishes. It is never super packed so we virtually never really have to wait to be seated. Its a small place. And staff is super friendly. Loved their rice & beans. Shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada, & taquitoes were yumm-o. Good pick that today:)
