Eat this, you won’t regret it! Stacey Roussel and her husband have a small holding in the Needville area, growing their produce using a technique called intercropping, that allows you to produce a wide variety of crops without the pesticides and fertilizers necessary for monoculture farming. This is the time of year for tomatoes and they have a huge variety of old and heirloom cultivars, all of which have a distinct personality and all of which taste fabulous. When I asked about the farming techniques, Stacey was passionate about the fact that she is growing primarily the food for her children, that she sells her excess at the Saturday morning Highland Village Market, is just our good luck. They do have other stuff, I saw some nice herbs, but now is the best of the tomatoes(see pics) and everything from the original green to the deep red, are bending the plants to the ground right now.
