1STARFORMANAGERANDPOORCUSTOMERSERVICE. The store is GREAT. You can find some UNBELIEVABLE sales and I’ve always had a decent experience dealing with the sales associates. I am a HUGE proponent of customer service. If a company provides good customer service, they will forever have my loyalty. I’ve dumped loads of money into Nike and have always had such a pleasurable experience, which made this run-in all the more dumbfounding. I purchased Flyknit Racers online. Nothing wrong with the shoes, just not the right fit. I went to the store to return the shoes. I completely understand technically accepting an online purchase is at the store’s discretion, but let’s rub our two braincells together and work this one out. I misplaced the card I used to make the online purchase. I just so happen to have a picture of the card, know the number/CVV code, and my state-issued ID matches the billing address of the card, where the shoes were shipped to, etc. The manager refused the return, as it was a «security issue» since the card was not physically present??? She actually offered an exchange. What if I stole the items from someone’s doorstep? Wouldn’t an exchange be more of a security issue? How could a return be a security issue?! After already being VERY rude, I try to calmly explain my situation and reason with her, she turns her back and walks away. If the woman would have been a little more kind, offered an alternate solution, or really anything — I wouldn’t be so upset. She is such a poor representation of Nike, hence the one star rating.

I’m born and raised a Nike kid, so a Nike store is right up my alley. Outside of the Nike Clearance store in Johnson Creek, this is my favorite Nike store. I always find something I like in here, although it’s not always what I want. This last time was one example, I came in to buy a pair of black sneakers and a pair of track pants to run/bum around in. I found 2 pairs of sneakers almost instantly, but much to my dismay the whole store was filled with shorts, which is abnormal considering last Spring I picked up 2 pair of track pants from a large selection. There was only a quarter of a rack of DriFits in the store, which they didn’t have any in my size, even if they did those aren’t the most comfortable pants. There’s still deals to be had, I grabbed a pair of Nice Jordan’s for $ 70 and I saw some Bears Jerseys for $ 30, which I almost bought to burn in effigy since I’m a Packers fan.

After Achilles tendinitis darn near ruined my whole summer, I decided a new pair of running shoes were just what the doctor ordered(literally…) to get me motivated to hit the beaten path again. Much to the boy’s chagrin, I drag him to Gurnee Mills. Hahahaha! Ladies, if you and your stubborn guy are having a tiff, simply bring him here. He’ll apologize until next Tuesday, so long as you end his GM misery. Just keep that in your back pocket! But I digress, I needed shoes and a slew of work out stores spot this Switzerland-sized mall. No luck in the first few stores, and then the Nike Factory Outlet looms ahead. Last Sunday before school starts, and the store is still pretty organized, staffers are still helping customers, and merchandise is still a plenty. I choose my running shoes go to bed dreaming of being a size smaller tomorrow. Well that did not happen, nor did the shoes aide my recovery. In fact, they set me back a few weeks in P.T. Oh no! The policy is 30 day exchanges/returns no questions asked. Thank goodness! I take the shoes back and… dammit. I forgot my wallet containing my I.D., credit card with purchase on it, everything. Enter my hero, sales manager Maj!(Maaj? Mag?) Like it was zero sweat for him, he took my shoes and info, and told me his work schedule so I could call and read my credit card info to him over the phone to complete the return. As promised, he was there on Monday at 1 p.m. and made the transaction a breeze. I was prepared for some slack from him, I mean let’s be serious, I know I would have jeered the customer just a smidge for being so flighty, but he was perfectly professional and make my snafu an easy fix. I hope I can shop here again soon! Maybe leave the boy at home though, unless he’s been bad :)
