The Bean has become one of our favorite spots to hang out when visiting Gunnison. On June 12th we sat outside, enjoyed the beautiful day, drank coffee and even got in a game of cribbage. The next morning we got up early and by passed our breakfast supplied by our hotel, to enjoy the coffee and oatmeal at the Bean. Parking out front is great for us as we are always on a motorcycle when visiting. The service is awesome and the people are always so happy. We will be back. the bad part is we can’t return until next summer.

Great food! Not many options in Gunnison and I was pleasantly surprised by this local joint. They made really good crepes and smoothies. My son loved it so much we went there both mornings we were in town. Highly recommend it!

Every time I’m in Gunnsion I stop here for coffee. They have some nice breakfast/lunch options as well. The juice menu could use some creativity and consistency. I ordered a vegetable juice with beets and ginger and all I got was old carrots. The two things that keep me coming back to The Bean are the coffee and the customer service.

Have always loved this place… I always stop in with my family when passing through Gunnison. It is a staple in town and always great coffee. I highly recommend The Bean!

Mmm, the coffee is good. Rich and creamy, kind of like Philz coffee(for those of you Unilocalers from the Bay Area). The café itself was pretty quaint(read: not very cute or welcoming), at least for my taste. But I’d definitely go back for the coffee if ever I find myself in Gunnison again.

This place is always great and their coffee drinks are second to none. Catherine made my double shot mocha today and it was super hot and tasty– can’t wait to return!

The Bean is my family’s favorite spot! The staff is extremely welcoming and the bagels are the best in town. We’ve been so much they know us by name, and they always remember our drinks. The Toddy Coffee is a favorite, and the honey granola cream cheese! They have free wifi and frequently changing art on the walls. They have toys for my son and stacks of local newspapers. Go in and sit for a while. You wont regret it.

What a great place to find exactly what I needed as I was passing though Gunnison. Great quality food, diverse variety of options, friendly service, colorful and cozy vibe and atmosphere. The wrap with black bean hummus was amazing. I highly recommend the tahini smoothie: has banana, dates, tahini, cacao nibs, and option to add«toddy»(cold brew coffee). DOIT.

The phrase«ground and brewed to order» means, in my mind, that you grind and brew a cup once I ask for it. Not walk over to the Bunn heater and drop a stale stream into my cup. This wouldn’t even be that much of a problem, if it weren’t for the attitude. Don’t get offended because you don’t understand the English language. I’m asking for the Fresh Cup, and item off of YOURMENU, and trying to determine if it’s a pour over, French press, etcetera. You’re a café… you should offer other options anyway.

Iced tea refills are not free. This is a problem because I can suck down a glass of iced tea in 9.14 seconds. Quaint Main Street location in this college town. The downtown area was a happening place. The inside was typical coffee house down to a nook with quasi tourist wares for sale. I had a breakfast sammich: bacon, egg and cheese on wheat. And an iced Americano. It’s difficult to find a good Americano. It was iced. A tad weak. The prices seemed a little steep for items like smoothies and coffee by the pound. The bathroom was cleanly and smelled of fresh spruce. A place for coffee in Gunnison. Colorado can be found on Main Street. Swing through for a cup of coffee. You’ll be glad you did.

Stopped for a quick lunch and coffee refill en route to Durango… BLT bagel was great. Kids loved their wraps and bagels as well. Instead of my typical Americano, I filled my Thermos with the regular coffee of the day… Some of the best«regular» coffee I have ever had(and I am abnormally picky).

My Americano was good. I was less impressed with the turkey and swiss crepes that I had for breakfast. The turkey coldcut was dry, and there could have been more cheese. I would not get it again, but the menu suggests they have plenty of items worth trying for breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is comfortable and the wifi worked great. Staff were attentive and both food and drink came up quickly.

We stopped in for a quick breakfast on our way through town. I had the nutty berry smoothie, which was excellent, and my husband had a Nutella crêpe(he was quiet and ate quickly, so I assume it was good!). Both were excellent, and the service was super friendly and didn’t take long even though the place was nearly full. There were a lot of options on the menu if you have a special diet — a great place for those who follow vegan and/or gluten-free diets. Only giving 4 stars since my smoothie wasn’t nearly the full size.

I’m updating my review to 5 stars. We’ve been here nearly every Monday for the last six months, and without exception: –the food has been consistently great. Fresh ingredients, new specials, yum. –the service is always friendly. They take your name and use it. They smile. And every single time, we’ve been asked if everything was to our satisfaction. –the ambiance is perfect. Always clean, great music, free wifi. Quintessential local café

This is a really great place, to stop in or hang out when you are in Gunnison. Unlike some of the snobbier coffee shops, they don’t mind offering good light roastand medium roast blends. Also — I left a box containing about $ 3000 worth of electronics equipment behind mistakenly, and they retrieved it and held it for me. So — the customers are equally awesome!

This place seems to be a model of inefficiency but somehow they manage to get folks served. We had to wait in line quite a while this morning partly because the customers in front of us were indecisive and partly because the worker at the counter was being distracted by co-workers. But they called my name to pick up our food after just a short wait and my breakfast burrito and Mary’s bagel were all good. The coffee was good as well but I’m not sure how one scores a refill. The atmosphere in the place this morning can only be described as frenetic. A food delivery was being wheeled in the back door as the mailman and a Fed Ex delivery were coming in the front. One employee was chatting with a friend and the bus tub was overflowing. I’m sure it’s not always this crazy but I think I’d rather have breakfast in a calmer environment.
