Nolan’s Restaurant and Lounge

Great food, great music, and great drinks. What more can you ask for. We enjoyed our time at Nolan’s and will return in the future.

Me and my husband wanted to try something different while in Gulf Shores the weekend of Feb. 6^th, 2016. We chose Nolan’s because I had seen the reviews. I was afraid the atmosphere would not be to my husbands liking but he wanted to try lobster tail so off we went.
When we walked in the place was dead but we went a little early so I expected that. Immediately my husband wanted to leave and we should have done just that! He ordered the lobster tail fried and I ordered the prime rib. When we finally received our food the lobster tail was so over cooked you could hardly chew it. The 16oz prime rib was burnt on the outside and red on the inside. I have never had such an awful meal for the 100 plus we paid for it. I hate that my husbands first lobster tail was so horrible because I’m sure he will never want it again.

We had high hopes for this. We ordered the prime rib, 16oz choice rib eye, and the butt steak. The prime rib was ok, the choice rib eye was sub par, and the butt steak was ok. The steaks took a long time to come out, so they were luke warm when we got them. We ordered some side dipping sauces, one didn’t make it out until the end of the meal. The bills came out wrong, then wrong again. After they came back wrong, we just settled up and got it over with. Nice atmosphere, but a lack luster experience.

So far, very hard to get a hold of to purchase a gift certificate. No one has called me back. They are closed, open at 5pm and it is 4pm and no one is there??? I am beginning to wonder if I should purchase a gift certificate there for my friends, or go elsewhere. Customer service for me leaves a lot to be desired.

OMG– amazing food, great service, great atmosphere. Robin was a terrific server. The fillet was the best my boyfriend has ever had and trust me he’s had a lot of steak. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nolan’s once again did not disappoint! We started with the crab cakes which we thought was the best we have ever eaten! Then we had the Greek salad and Steer Butt Steak! I had never had steer butt steak! I was pleasantly surprised how tender and cooked to perfection that it melted in my mouth! I love going to Nolan’s!

My favorite is the whole fried flounder. Best I have had since the Sahara in Montgomery.

The staff and the atmosphere were nice. The food, so-​so. I had the grilled tuna and it was presented beautifully and not over cooked. It was pretty good, but not great. That was kind of the theme for our table. One got a plate of fried shrimp and oysters — good but not great. Another got the stuffed flounder — good, but not great (I sampled this too). The last member of our party got a steak, which I tasted. It was a good steak, but it was not a great steak. The crab claw appetizer was just Ok. The crab cake appetizer was not much better. The service was professional and attentive.
In short, high prices for Ok food.

This dinner & service was lovely. When we walked out there were people lined up waiting to taste the deliciousness of the oyster Rockefeller, the grilled shrimp and the chicken parmigiana… the steaks are fabulous, too. We were placed nicely at our table with a amazing waitress. It was a very clean place to eat. We would love to go back there! :)

This place was great. We were greeted very warmly. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed – shorts and t-​shirts are just fine. We arrived right at the start of the dinner rush but were seated immediately. Our waitress was very good. We had the ribeye and the prime rib. Both were excellent. The sides were decent.

We have been going to Nolan’s for ten years. We have seen a marked decline in their food and service. They no longer have the good rolls they had and we were NOT served REAL BUTTER. For a restaurant of this caliber that is a turn off. The steak is still better than most but it does not have the flavor it used to have and I ordered a sauce for my steak and it arrived cold. Most up scale restaurants have mixed greens for their salad–
they are still using iceberg ! Last but not least, someone in our party ordered fish and it was very dry. Needless to say I am not in a hurry to return! I will eat there again but it is disappointing knowing that it was my favorite at one time and could not be beaten five years ago.

I give this a 2 star because of the service. We were seated almost immediately and the experience started off very good. However, as soon as our waitress started tending our table, things went undesirable. She was rude and intolerable to ask for anything we needed. With our party of 11, only 2 people received their food while everyone else waited. Eventually everyone got their food except one person, which then had to wait 10 minutes after everyone else already had food. Upon waiting, we asked for extra rolls to be brought to the table and our waitress threw her hands up and said, «I’m just trying to get your food first.» I do not believe that was an appropriate response. We had waited over a 20 minute time period from the first to last person receiving their food. Attached is my food, which is a seafood combo that cost $ 20. Though the food was tasty, due to service, I will never return

My husband and I celebrated our birthdays and anniversary here. Jill and Doug were a big help in choosing our meal. The steak I had was delicious and juicy. My husband had the soft shell crab. It was also delicious. I would recommend to anyone going to Gulf Shores Alabama to give Nolan’s a try. You won’t regret it. I recommend the crème brulé for dessert.

We always have had good food and service here. The entertainment in the back is one of the best oldies bands in the area with a dance floor that gets pretty crowded at times but very fun. Draws an older crowd with lots if energy. Great place to unwind after a fishing charter with

Not sure I would have ever tried this place if it hadn’t been for Unilocal.It’s sorta off in a strip mall and doesn’t look that unique from the outside. However, upon entering I suddenly felt underdressed in my shorts and T-​shirt.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the service was quick and professional. We did beat the dinner rush so I can’t speak about their performance when they are busy.
We ordered Rockefeller Oysters for an appetizer and each had a different seafood entre. They definitely know what they’re doing back in the kitchen. It was delicious and full of flavor.
The taste was well worth the cost ($ 20+ a dish) but not sure I’d take my kids to it — who cares what their food tastes like anyway, right? :-)
I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a fine dining, seafood experience (not seafood in a shack) but don’t want the «chain» feel.

Had reservations for 830 on Valentine’s night. At 930, asked the hostess when our table would be ready and were informed that it would probably be never due to a slow kitchen. Had an ok martini, but probably won’t ever try their food. Had to scramble to find somewhere else on Valentine’s day at 10p. Extremely poor execution on Nolan’s part

Have never had a bad meal here. Always busy but wait staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. You wont go home hungry. Lunch portions are plentiful!

We were very surprised by Nolan’s after the reviews.
Note that this is both a restaurant and bar/​lounge, and we were in the restaurant side.
The service was old-​school, but in a good way. Servers dressed up, and acting a bit more formal than most places. The décor is also old-​school, heavily on paneling. The food is a bit more mid-​range, nothing new, but not out of date either.
Our appetizers, dinners, and desert were all excellent. Seafood done right. Steaks cooked perfectly. Deserts that you want to come back for over and over. Prices pretty reasonable for the food and service, but clearly high for the area.
We checked out the lounge afterwards, and were not impressed by the band or atmosphere.
We will be going back our next trip.

I was surprised and pleasantly so. With an area inundated with mediocre touristy restaurants, Nolan’s was a definite bright spot. I did have some issues, but as a whole Nolan’s had great service, good ambiance and good food.
Nolan’s the type of restaurant that want’s to be a seafood place, but really isn’t, it’s a steak place, but not really. Nolan’s does know how to diversify a menu. They have a good seafood selection, and a good steak selection. I had an 8oz filet and it was more then enough. I ordered blue cheese crumbles, and wouldn’t do it again, mainly because it was a lot of blue cheese, they weren’t crumbles, more likely the whole wheel. The steak was good, and removing some of the cheese fixed it all up.
My friends also had the steaks, from the prime rib, which was reported as excellent, to a rib eye, which also was reported as excellent.
Service was also excellent, were visited a number of times and asked how everything was. The wine list was also very good.
Is Nolan’s a solid four star review, no but there trying hard to get there, and the wait staff had such a good attitude, that really put them in contention. Nolan’s is surrounded by touristy restaurants, so if you want to get away from that, Nolan’s truly shines!
