Great setting on a dock. Had lobster rolls. Really, the lobster rolls are why you go.

A beautiful location, BYOB, and family style food. No cream in the chowder for a change, worth the experience. The stuffed clams are excellent. You have a lot of lobster with the roll, worth every dime. I would enjoy it even more with less butter. Real friendly place, will definitely go back.

A pretty stop for a lobster roll on the Sound. Was going for a drive in CT with my girlfriend and picked this place based on Unilocal reviews. Its a quiet, scenic dock with picnic tables and umbrellas. We each had a lobster roll, clam chowder and a cole slaw. The lobster roll was very good with plenty of meat on the standard toasted roll. The chowder was a broth type that was on the bland side. The cole slaw was also rather tasteless. But the main draw is the lobster roll, of course, and it is worth coming back for.

This place is a gem. Great setting and great food. Glad we found it! The chowder is on point and the stuff clams are a must order. If your coming north on 95, stop in Branford at thimble Island or Stoney creek for a growler of beer to enjoy since they are current BYOB!

We were enroute to R.I. 6÷24÷15 and my wife thought a lobster roll sounded good for lunch. She found a listing in a Connecticut tourist book and we found the place. Very informal, outdoor seating right on the dock, with picnic tables and a grill. The friendly servers took care of us and served up some great, fresh lobster rolls, a dish no common in Wisconsin and a great treat for us Midwesterners.

What delightfully simple, casual restaurant that takes you back to your roots. Eating here feels like summer. Wooden picnic tables right off the dock, umbrellas, BYOB, perfectly executed basic menu of incredibly fresh seafood. The view of the water is fantastic. We ordered the lobster roll, clam chowder, and two seafood stuffed clams. The lobster was tender, fresh and lightly buttered. Fresh, high quality seafood really doesn’t need much dressing up. They understand that here. He bun was crisped up and buttery from the skillet. mmmmm. Coleslaw was crunchy, not soggy and just the right amount of mayo and celery seed. Refreshing with the lobster. Clam chowder wasn’t cream based. But still delicious. Bring cups if you BYOB. They do not have cups. Better than some of the lobster rolls I’ve had in Maine.

BYOB, dog friendly dockside dining– what more could you ask for? Menu is super simple, but if you’re looking for a delicious hot lobster roll on the ct shoreline, this is the spot!

Nothing about this place was impressive. When first walking up we had to walk by a port-o-potty to get to the front entrance. After sitting down I ordered a sweet tea and it came in a can. The lobster roll did have plenty of lobster but it wasn’t that tasty. I was expecting a little more than they offered.

Hidden gem behind the Guilford Moorings. BYOB and enjoy a lobster roll caught by Burt the Lobsterman. Stuffed clams are great too. Seating is picnic tables shaded by umbrellas on the dock surrounded on 3 sides by the Sound. Summer doesn’t officially start until we come here for a lobster roll. A unique spot that makes us feel like we’re on vacation even though we live a few miles away. We bring all of our out of town guests here too.

Lobster rolls and stuffed clams were great. Just wish they gave us cups with our drinks. I love a glass or cup of ice. Beautiful view and breeze.

Great atmosphere! You sit right next to the docks and lobster traps. On a sunny day, it’s akin to having a picnic next to the sea. I had the lobster roll, coleslaw and ice tea. The Lobster Roll was delicious! It was warm and buttery and just the right mix of lobster and roll. I just wished it was a slightly larger. Overall a cheap and great place to have lunch.

Half hour wait turned into forty five plus… no bread no salad. Food was decent… Bartenders good. drinks were ok. Waiter… was ok, could have been little more accommodating.

I was surprised to find this place — definitely worth the stop. We always(semi-reluctantly) go to Lobster Landing in Clinton for our lobster roll fix. The Lobster Pound is much better. Warm buttery goodness, and the crab was fresher than Lobster Landing. 4-stars because why not have a Maine-style roll? So I like a little mayo, is that so wrong?!

Peaceful location by the water and it is either unknown(as it was completely empty when we arrived before noon) or just opened for lunch. Lobster meat is perfectly tender served in toasted bun is as fresh as it comes. They only have few other items on the menu but this place offers perfectly done Lobster Roll, no need to try other items. I ordered a side coleslaw but it did not have enough dressing and was poorly seasoned. Lobster roll will not leave you disappointed.

When we first pulled up, I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the front, it looked like we had arrived at beachside shack. But in the back, we found a dock that had been transformed into a cute outdoor eating area. The menu is small, with lobster rolls, hot dogs, clam chowder, chips, and cole slaw. The lobster is served warm, on a buttered toasted bun, and although portions are small, at around the $ 15-range the prices are very reasonable. The scenery is also beautiful and calming.

The menu doesn’t give you much to choose from. At least you won’t be asking yourself«why did I get the turkey burger?» There’s a Connecticut-style lobster roll, hot dogs, Rhode Island-style clear clam chowder, and not much else. The lobster meat is excellent, and the chowder is ideal for those who prefer an oceanic clam vibe to cream or other distractions. If it matters, there’s an outhouse in lieu of traditional facilities. There’s great scenery nearby: the Long Island Sound and some marshes.

The perfect lobster roll. 4 oz. of lobster on a hot buttered piece of bread — what could be better? The coleslaw is also great, definitely recommend it as a side.

My aunt(who lives in Guilford) and I have been going to Lobster Landing in Clinton for many years. This past summer I made the journey to Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough. On my latest visit from Chicago(helping my aunt set up her first Mac) she proposed we eat at Guilford Lobster Pound. My response was, «What?» I was surprised to discover this place existed! I have been going for jogs from Long Hill to the Guilford harbor for ten years, and I somehow never knew the Lobster Pound was right there. It was as if were hidden in another dimension, sharing harbor real estate with The Stone House and Mooring but unseeable. We pulled behind the Mooring parking lot and there it was, docked boats on one side, salty marsh on the other, a lobster shack right on the water. The tide was coming in. Seating is picnic tables on the dock, under umbrellas. My aunt and I ordered 2 lobster rolls and a chili cheese dog, along with chips, slaw and drinks. The lobster is abundant, buttered and yet sweet and delicate, served warm on a toasted bun. The slaw had a punchy(horseradish?) sharpness that balanced the rich lobster. I love these casual lobster roll places. It made my day to discover a gem under my nose. Lobster Pound is right up there with Lobster Landing and Abbott’s in terms of delicious Connecticut-style lobster rolls and Long Island Sound beauty.
