Twice Told Books is now MOCKINGBIRDBOOKS. The Guerneville shop is the second location for this great independent bookstore, the first being in Sebastopol. They moved into the space in November of 2015, and they are working toward creating the same inviting, comforting, book-lovers’ environment as they have in their first store. They have an interesting selection of used books, and they plan on selling the latest new bestsellers in the coming months. Mockingbird Books is a welcome new addition to the Russian River community!

Great little shop with much more than books– unique cards and gifts are carried, too, for all ages. If you can’t find any used books that you like, you can order a new one– independent bookstores are so wonderful and deserve support! Staff is helpful and the location inside Coffee Bazaar can’t be beat. One of my favorite places in Guerneville ~

This is a gem. The combination of café(next door), used books at great prices, quirky gifts, and cards is my kind of paradise. I make an effort to stop in every time I’m in Guernville. The staff is nice, and you’ll always find something you’re not looking for(but not necessarily what you’re looking for, tis the uncertainty of a used bookstore). Pop in for a peek! You won’t regret it if you like books!

Great little shop. Conveniently located next to a coffee shop, I could have spent an entire day on this block. I also found a few neat vintage posters! Will return.

I love this bookstore and find myself there quite often. Shannon and her staff LOVE books. Simple. Plus she keeps her store adorned with the most irresistible gifty things. I can usually get a all of my holiday shopping done here. What I appreciate the most is their service. I have gone in several times asking for a specific type of book and I always walk out with it.

Small, but sweet, is how I’d describe Twice Told Books. There is an eclectic sense of the books they have, some new and some I think are used. The card selection is great and many made me laugh out loud. The clerk generously offered us a tote bag free. While I miss the old River Reader, Twice Told Books is helping ease the sorrow.

I come here each year when I visit Guerneville. Even when I tell myself I’m just looking I find deals good enough to make me breakdown. The coffee shop attached is a perfect partner and although the non book items are expensive, some are too funny not to purchase. How about douchebag post its??? Rad.

I LOVE this book store. I devour books at an alarming rate and have gone to a ton of used book stores, but this is definitely one of my new favorites! They have a lot of great selections in all genres. I almost felt like I was looking at my private library, they had so many titles that I own and love. The lady that was working(who I also think was the owner) was super friendly. A HUGE plus to me when deciding to patronize a business. This shop will definitely be on my list of must stop at places during my trips to the RR area.

Super cool little shop when you want to pick up a book real quick or a small gift for the loves of your life. Love this little shop and all it’s treasures. They have a designated section for scratch and sniff stickers so what does that tell you? Awesome, right? The books selection was new and old and current and organized in a way that would capture your attention. The gal behind the counter knew her stuff and was extra friendly with a side of smiles. There were these little recipe boxes that were by theme that caught my eye which I’ll have to look at again when I come back here. Great place for gifts and for a quick pick of a book to read while camping out here or visiting friends. With small-town feel and lovely knacks, you will fall in love with this place fast. They even have little bookmarks out – when you leave, be sure to take one on your way out. :)

Twice Told Books is a hidden treasure in the Russian River area. Bookstores seem antiquated, now that there’s Google Books&the Kindle. but this is a PERFECT place. The service is always friendly. The selection is amazingly diverse for so small a venue. I got a great early edition of JRR Tolkien’s «Return of the King» with the author’s original artwork(yes, Tolkien painted), and a few other books. A real deal. One can get fantasy books, religion&spirituality tomes, cookbooks of various sorts(including one by the Metropolitan Community Church that has recipes by kd lang&Rosie O’Donnell) This is a place that is worth seeing more than twice! Sit down and read a book!

You have to be one freaky freak not to love a good old bookstore. Guerneville is ripe with the freak factor, but it also offers this gem. There’s an excellent selection for your river/pool side reading enjoyment and you can meander about with your dog and caffeinated beverage from the Bazaar!

Great gay section and a great Lesbian section. One of the better bookstores I’ve ever been to, bar none. Great selection, great titles, great sections and all the books are in great condition. Love this bookstore and what a great find in the middle of the butt-f**k boonies. I’d move here solely for the bookstore if I could stand to live in the butt-f**k boonies. Not there’s anything wrong with the boonies. I enjoyed my Guerneville stay. Now let’s play a drinking game with this review. Everytime you read the word Great, you need to chug. Ready, set, GO!

Definitely a hidden gem. This is conveniently located next to Coffee Bazaar. Grab a latte and peruse some«twice told books.» I really love bookstores. I really love used books — there’s something special about a book that someone else has read. Case in point: my boyfriend bought a book and someone had inserted an article from a newspaper about the author — and slipped it in the middle of the book. How incredibly charming is that? What lured me was the border collie with two different-colored eyes. She was the watchdog. When I asked the owner if the dog was on sale, he laughed and said, «No, she’s not — I work for her, you know.» And she was adorable! She was inviting to everyone who came in. She’d let you pet her, then she’d get right back to business by greeting the customers. Since I couldn’t buy the dog, I got a new copy of «The Reader»(the movie that just came out and by the way, it’s my new favorite book) for $ 8.

This is one of my favorite used bookstores, even though it’s incredibly small. I don’t know if it’s the feel of my friend’s hometown, but I like stopping in at the adjacent coffee shop for a dose of caffeine, and then not feeling obligated to spend an extravagant amount of time browsing the shelves. The staff is extremely helpful, and sales come with a free bookmark that doubles as their business card. I think I was sold when I saw the name, to be honest.
