Stumptown Nursery

I have to disagree with the other poster. Owner is bat sh*t crazy. A definite mean streak — watched her scream at a teller at the local bank. I know thats not to do with her business but its a sign of her character. I left the bank hoping they would tell her to take her business elsewhere. The teller she screamed at was as sweet as can be.

I always feel like I’m prowling around someone’s private backyard when I visit this nursery. Then a friendly «Hello!» will come from behind a table of tuberous begonias or from the sun deck sprinkled with geraniums, and the owner will emerge to help me find what I’m looking for.
The owner is always helpful in answering questions about the unique collection of plants specifically selected for West Sonoma County’s climate. All of the plants come from local growers, and while the quantity of certain varieties may be a bit sparse (sometimes only one or two 4″ pots of something remain), the owner is quick to discount a plant if it looks stressed. I’ve never asked for a discount, yet I’ve received one three times – I must know how to pick the winners!
The nursery has several nooks and crannies – each bedecked with some unique potted creations that aren’t for sale. My only suggestions would be to put a price tag on some of those exquisitely combined potted annuals – they’re reminiscent of King’s nursery in Santa Rosa which pulls down a pretty penny for potting up similar eye-​catching yet uncanny combinations.
Good selection and fair price on soil and amendments too.
Call ahead to confirm they’re open if it’s not the weekend. I’ve been going there for over a year and still haven’t figured out their schedule.
